Southern Hospitality (2022)
Great background noise when cleaning
This show is absolutely ridiculous and makes me thankful Im not longer in my 20s. I usually put it on and let it play on Peacock when I want background noise while Im cleaning up around the house or working on projects. The drama shows how vapid some 20 year olds are and I pray I wasnt like this in my 20s. No way I was. There is nothing that will make you feel better about being past your 20s then watch a show like this where being a club promoter is LIFE! Its also funny because they act like Charleston is hip like LA. Its not. Its not known for its clubs, its known for its history and Southern Charm (Hey shep!). Overall Im not hooked like I am on other reality tv shows, and Im shamelessly a fan of reality tv, but its okay enough for me to take a break from house chores and listen to what the youngin's are crying about and who is prettier then who. Sigh.
Obliterated (2023)
Pure smut
I saw the trailer after I finished a show on Netflix. It looked very entertaining so I started watching it. I surprisingly made it halfway through episode 3 and was done when they "comedically" walked into an "adult" party. I tolerated the explicit "adult" scene in the first episode. I barely tolerated the full frontal of a male striper who exposed himself, I mean, fully, by applying whip cream on himself. I tolerated the "adult" content jokes and more full male nudity but the "adult" party scene was it for me. In addition to all of the "adult" content, drugs were celebrated and promoted heavily in this show. Its a running joke continuously in this show. It out right glamorizes illegal drug use. This show had so much potential. Im so disappointed the writers couldn't come up with a better show without putting in all the smut and drug use. This show had its funny moments where I did laugh like the helicopter scene where the lead had to use the restroom but the "adult" content and glamorized drug use ruined what could have been a good show with unrealistic and over exaggerated comedy. If you looking for a show with heavy adult content and glamorizing drug use, with full on nudity with more smut, this show is for you. Hard pass. Bring back real talent please!
The Recruit (2022)
Extremely unrealistic intel show
This show has potential but its extremely unrealistic. Some freshman kid lawyer gets into the CIA and has no oversight into an investigation he is conducting that has big implications for US national security? Come on! The kid is a lawyer and has zero field experience or surveillance training yet he gets access to classified info and jets off to black sites without clearing it with his boss? And he is so green and inexperienced that he flies to Yemen in a suit?! Really? Is he trying to drawl attention? Then he drives to a black site to interview people about his investigation like he is driving to the beach on a Saturday? And his boss is nonchalant about it all. And the kicker - he tells powerful men in government what to do and they do it?! One minute the kid is a complete dummy in regard to counter intelligence and then the next he is some savvy lawyer telling the AG and others what to do. Okay Jack Ryan. Ridiculous and induces eye rolling. The show is entertaining enough to watch with nothing else to tv. The writing is so up and down and I think they tried too hard. Its all over the place. I love spy shows but this is comedic compared to other shows. I wouldn't be upset if this doesn't get many seasons.
