Legend Quest: Masters of Myth (2019)
unnecessary restart
Warning: The translation may be inaccurate. Translated from Russian into English
This sample is a relaunch of the animated series "In search of Legends" in 2017. Yes, yes, you heard right. This is not a continuation, but a restart. You understand this when you gradually watch the series and completely change the canon.
IF YOU DON'T WANT to read my whining about this, just watch "In search of Legends" 2017 ("Legend quest" or "Las leyendas", titles in English and Mexican). Strongly, absolutely. And touch this raw children's sample only after viewing the original, so as not to spoil the impression.
It's strange that I didn't understand this at the first viewing. Was the reissue worth closing the project with an unfinished twist at the end? Let's figure it out
The animated series borrows all the images and characters that were in the 2017 project, changing only the animation style. I must say right away, a change of style is bad. It is suitable, except for children's spin-offs and animated series for girls, but not for 19th-century fiction with horror elements (we all understand that the horror of the last series was at the 6+ level, but it still smacked of something creepy and maybe equaled Gravity Falls just trying to smooth out the rough edges in an attempt not to scare off the younger audience). Everything that should somehow frighten, does not frighten. All monsters look cute or ridiculous rather than scary. Perhaps this is a subjective judgment, but there are unlikely to be dissenters. Especially those who watched the original project. Of the advantages, I will only highlight the fact that the animation has become smoother, but it just pales against the background of this "vanilla" style
Plot. As for him, he didn't move forward. In theory, a restart is a fresh start, giving the opportunity to implement new ideas without contradicting the canon of the previous project. What do we have? The series has become tedious, the twists are not exciting, the narrative is drowning in the romance of Leo (the main character) and Theodora (the foreground character), the plot is banal. The original series even made me worry about.
Legend Quest (2017)
You have to look Legend Quest
The accuracy of the translation may be inaccurate. I'm not good at English
This is one of my favorite animated series and I am very disappointed that no one knows about it, not that in the CIS, but in the world. Why?
The animated series has a very interesting idea. Traveling on a fantastic flying ship around the world of the 19th century, the mythology of various countries in each series and the interesting villains shown. By the end of the series, the levels of twists are accelerating and you are already really worried about the characters. It would seem like a "children's cartoon"!
Unfortunately, the low budget does not allow the animated series to accelerate to the fullest. The animation here is quite simple and not very dynamic, even despite the presence of a considerable number of battles
Nevertheless, I strongly advise you to familiarize yourself with this creation. Although it is quite childish and the animation is "far from Gravity Falls", but during viewing and after it leaves only positive impressions. The characters here are ambiguous, and their development is interesting to watch
I will also mention that this animated series has a sequel in the form of "In search of Legends: Masters of Myths"
I thought to put 7/10, but "In search of legends" settled in my heart and I will give it
8/10.
