Pointless movie with lots of boring filler scenes done clearly just to reach enought minutes to call this " a movie". The cast done the minimun to be pay and the ending was really dull and rushed.

I can't figure out how is possible that this movie was presented at the Venice International Film Festival, if this is the state of art about movies in Italy better skip these kind of products and watch something else.

After Thanatomorphose (2012) and Contracted (2013) another bad movie where the main character slowly rotting or transform in something else without foolishly even go to the ER. Apart from this the big problem for me in "Bite" was the plot used to intersperse the body horror scene. It was basically a damn boring soap opera. A pity because the visual fx aren't so bad but the plot and lots of mistakes put this movie in the bottom of my ratings, unfortunately i'm starting to accept the idea that we will never have more masterpiece of body horror like "The fly". 2/10.

Boring and not so original.

As for their previous work from the same directors (Yellowbrick road) this movie has a nice concept and tries to be innovative the first 5 minutes but unfortunately he just falls in a derivative horror genre with a boring story and a lot of lazy screenplay (one example: the "accidental" meeting with his old friends that work in the FX).

A mix between the Coen brothers' movies, the noir genre and the revenge theme. This is "Blue Ruin", a small indie gem that really worth the watch.

The main character (a great Macon Blair) is an homeless man that became an improvised killer after informed that the man who killed his parents (10 years before) was released from prison. Simple plot of course, but what really works in it is how much realistic and naive is the revenge plan of the main character, most of his actions are improvised and a veil of black humor is always present.

The director Jeremy Saulnier did really a good job in the script and the direction of his movie, i really suggest to watch 'Blue Ruin' and keep an eye on his future projects.

The mokumentary/found footage genre is without doubts excessively over-used in the last years especially in the horror genre, nine movies out of ten with this kind of gimmick are garbage, "The Banshee Chapter" of course isn't a masterpiece, but is the one that i save.

"The Banshee Chapter" (i still need to understand why put Banshee in the title because that has nothing to do with the plot) have some appealing "fresh" elements like number stations, mind control, psychedelic/mind-expanding drugs, other dimensions and...Lovecraftian horror too.Yeah because if you've read Lovecraft's "From beyond" when like 30 minutes in the movie you can easily think about it and then have confirm of the excerpt later, when the character interpreted by Ted Levine sums the short-story to the main character.

Of course there are flaws too. I can accept the cheap visual FX and creatures, probably it was just a matter of budget and OK, but the big flaw is that all the good and interesting elements described before are not, in my opinion, deepened enough. All the explanation that you receive are just plain, even the plot twist at the end is nice but not a mind blowing one.

In conclusion "The Banshee Chapter" is a decent creepy movie with a good story concept and some good jump scares, it's really interesting in the first part but lose some of his appeal in the second part but a 6 out of 10 is well deserved anyway.

I found the DVD of "Brain Damage" in a cheap-DVD-chest in a tech store and of course i've immediately bought it, at the time the only title in mind by Frank Henenlotter was "Basket case".

Well, i must admit that was a great surprise, the story, the cheap props, the psychedelic lights, the '80 visual effects (the first "lsd-trip" of Brian with the room filled with water is great), everything works well in a funny and splatter context. There are also some genial scenes like the intro part with the elderly couple, the one with the blonde girl in the Hell club, the scene with Duane Bradley cameo and, of course, the ending scene. In conclusion, a must-see milestone in the '80 splatter/horror comedy genre!

Honestly i don't understand how it's possible that this movie at the moment got so many good reviews and a general decent response. The screenplay is just dull and the characters makes stupid things for all the time. Really. What kind of parent would leave their children go alone for a walk in the creepiest spot in the world while doing a quick bang in a car parked? Or again what kind of parent would bring their children to see who was supposed to be their harasser just after a psychologist have told them that their children needed support because they are experiencing a traumatic event? The movie is full with this kind of nonsense plot things, completely unnecessary nude scenes (like the lesbian scene at the start of the movie), plain dialogs and the ZOOMS. There are lots of zooms and all of them are really really annoying. In conclusion "Here comes the devil" it's just a mess, avoid it if you want to see a good horror movie, but if you are looking for a comedy keep it in mind because like "Manos:hands of fate" it's so bad that eventually you can even found it funny.
