YES !!!!! Pike !!!
5 May 2022
I've adored Jeffrey Hunt's Capt. Pike my entire life, and every iteration of Pike since. Anson Mount is brilliant in pretty much everything (he did not get enough credit for Black Bolt). I new I wanted this series while watching Discovery, but I didn't know that withing the first minute and forty-five seconds I'd be out-of-my-mind thrilled. THIS SERIES IS A MUST SEE FOR EVERY FAN OF TOS, TNG, and the Pike/Kirk era's. And Rebecca's #1 does full tribute to Majel. If Season 1 ends with Kirk being introduced to Pike and Spock I'll have a heart attack. PS: Bring on the Michelle Yeoh Section 31 Series *makes gimme hands*

3-May-2022 Time for everyone to watch this again !!!
3 May 2022
The stories in this film are simply three of millions as to why the law to protect a woman's right to choose is so vitally important in a civilized society. Watch this with your sons and daughters after educating them on safe sex, and familiarize them with all the health care services provided by Planned Parenthood so they can stay safe. Two forms of control, one being latex condoms, EVERY time.

Not seen footage is worth it for Kevin Smith fans
12 February 2022
People writing reviews seem to have missed that this was put together by Malcolm Ingram and not Kevin. If you are a Kevin Smith fan this is for you. If you are not, haters back off (stop spamming the reviews with your hatred this footage is not for you). Thank you Kevin and thank you also Jay Mewes for all you do - FANS appreciate it.

Tom Holland .... 12 out of 10
18 December 2021
I was never a fan of Spider-man in the comics, nor any of the Sony licensed films. But, since 2016, I've been "all in" for Tom Holland. #StruggleNation @DayOneWeThere All the principles from the MCU continue to be fantastic, and the fact that Marvel can now establish "our" universe as "theeee" universe, and update/correct anything that fans didn't care for from the original films and cast, .... I mean, this film raises the bar above and beyond where Endgame raised it. 2008 to 2019 is officially laid to bet, and 2021 onward is the new stage for the new next Next NEXT LEVEL. Dr. Strange 2022 is going to be epic. But THIS FILM IS A MUST SEE for All Movie Goers. This film needs EVERY AWARD INCLUDING BEST PICTURE. Seriously, every human who watches films needs to watch this film. 10 out of 10.... actually 12 out of 10.

Meanders but the pay off is huge
5 November 2021
It's after Endgame so 2023 perhaps at the same time as Far From Home or after so for us really still 2020. That said, I don't understand the choices for music at the onset and the exit, at all. THAT said, the pay off in the last part of the film is huge. Any MCU person in it since 2008 has to see it because "MCU". I would suggest reading the comics first and becoming not only familiar with The Eternals but with the Titans (Thanos, etc.). Remember the dude in GotG Vol1 that is shown on a planet during The Collector's description of the Infinity Stoes? Yeah, that's important too so go read up on those! And please for the love of got don't leave the theater until the film is OVER-OVER?!?! People drive me batty leaving. It meanders but then it's great. So it's great.

Alex Kurtzman Chris Pine I'm all in PS
12 March 2021
I would like to know if Alex musical taste is what drove the dialog at "Rhino Records". That scene for the win. If you like Pine, or Kurtzman's it's worth a watch.

23 April 2020 watched this on TCM for the first time, OMG!!!
23 April 2020
THIS FILM IS A MUST WATCH if for no other reason for close attention to the dialog and the hyperbole from 1933 to today is spot on. NOTHING has changed is the take away from watching this film, and EVERYONE knows it; best kept secret ever. Meet the new boss, same s the old boss. Unemployment? Food being thrown out while people go hungry? Not wanting to speak to reporters or answer questions? Yeah, it's ALL in this film, 1933 !! Completely applies to 2020. Should be shown in schools too in Political Science classes.

I tried, I really did. Lesson: don't let your friends work for you.
9 February 2020
I watched Lilly's channel for about three years and had high hopes for her show, but I really tried to watch it an honestly, having her friends working for her really does no service to anyone. Also the show is WAY TOO HEAVILY EDITED. I think the shows are recorded the week prior to being broadcast ( ? ) but whenever they record it doesn't matter because they clearly have way more material than can fit into the time given for the show. THE EDITING IS REALLY BAD. And for the 9 to 19 year old girls who are still the target, the content at this time of night makes zero sense. If she was growing her original audience who are now in college maybe, but the content is no no longer relatable. It's sad really because given the right direction it could have been good. Actually, she'd have been better off as a secondary cast member of SNL if she wanted to break stereoptypes or represent those who go unrepresented.

Perfect, but Dab-Dab distracted me and I don't know why.
20 January 2020
I love this film but for some reason Octavia Spencer sounds like Tiffany Haddish which is fine because I very much enjoy both actresses' work but there is something about Dab-Dab that doesn't fit into the "period' of the film (Queen Victoria era) or the Country. Obviously each actor/actress brings their own qualities to each of the animals and they are all fantastic, but Dab-Dab stands out. I don't quite know how to explain it but Dab-Dab is distracting and I can't figure out why. This is probably the most oddly written confusing review I've ever posted, but I feel like if Dab-Dab's voice were different in some way the character would be less distracting. There is nothing wrong with standing out, perhaps Dab-Dab is exceptional, or maybe it was just the audio settings at the theater, but Dab-Dab's dub/vocal took me out of the period (the intended era). That makes ZERO sense I know, and I'm sorry. But RDJ of course is fantastic.

Anson Mount is perfect
18 November 2019
Anson Mount is the perfect Captain Pike just as he was the perfect Black Bolt. He can deliver so much with just a look, and his delivery of dialog is completely believable. I wish he were going to be in Discovery Season 3 or that he and the crew of The Enterprise introduced in Discovery Season 2 were given their own show.. Anything Anson Mount is in is required viewing, he's awesome and completely underrated.

This film is perfect in every way.
20 October 2019
If Scarlett and Sam don't get at least Golden Globes nominations for this film I'll be disappointed. I think this might be the best work Scarlett has ever done - she was animated, dynamic, and played her roll with impact. The kids in this film are amazing. It's perfectly written and has amazing perspective. The film is out-and-out BRILLIANT, and when it 'hits' it hits hard. It was perfect in every way. And the timing couldn't be more perfect. 10/10.

It's 2019 why is the animation so elongated and flat?
12 October 2019
Why is her head so long? Did teens in an intro to Animation create this? I guess I need to find the 2009 film everyone says is great. I was busy with MCU films from 2008-2019 and don't remember a 2009 Wonder Woman but given the reviews of this I'd better go find it. I'm writing this review as I'm watching "Bloodlines" and I too am finding the voices lacking dynamics and Rosario (who I like) is great, someone clearly gave her some sort of formula to emulate for Diana's voice. I think if Rosario had injected her own personality into it rather than trying to sound like other WW voices it could have been better.

Logan isn't X-Men, Joker isn't a competator to the MCU. It's obvious.
5 October 2019
Lesson: don't kick a person when they are down. Joker is not a 'comic book movie' and should not be ranked or compared to any DCEU or MCU films just as you would not compare "Logan", "... 3,000 ". The richest and the people in charge of 'systems' in this world will never see it, but you should.

Stop calling it a comic book movie - It's a Social Economic Snapshot In Time. PSA: Protect Your Mental Health
5 October 2019
In a society where bullying is the norm and the poorest people get the least amount of preventative care, Joker is a testament to how, since the days of "Taxi Driver" being made, not much has changed. People who are made to feel outcast, people who are scraping to get by and earn food money, people who are alone, ..... often get kicked by an uncaring system. Man's inhumanity to man is alive and well in today's society and in this film. While set in a different decade the message is the same. I don't know what people mean anymore when they say or thing 'comic book movie' because comic books and characters reflect the minds of their creators. Not unlike "Natural Born Killers" the media needs to stop making celebrity out of crazy people and those who do harm to others. The fear of the film inciting violence is ridiculous just as it was with "V for Vendetta". This is not a children's film and it's not a comic book film, it's a pure Drama. It could not be more well done. Anyone who doesn't walk away with a new perspective on what it is like to be poor in America should reflect. PS: Stop bulling each other people, we are all we have.

Tough Start and Obviously Pre-Recorded
24 September 2019
I understand the hustle and the accomplishment. But the first week out the gate did not need to be so heavy handed on the woman of color angle. Those of us who have been watching Lilly for many years now already 'get it'. Those new to her show might feel confused or alienated as if they have done something wrong for showing up to the program. I think with time it will improve. I think she needs an hour also; half an hour isn't enough and the show is clearly heavily edited after a full taping. I'm in it to win it but the first week needs to be set aside and taken with a grain of salt. We can only go up from here. #GirlLove #TeamSuper

DO YOUR CANON RESEARCH (TOHO CATALOG) and Do Not Listen to Critics
31 May 2019
There are So Many people including critics that have ZERO knowledge of Toho Canon, so much so that when I see titles like this I know the person writing has absolutely ZERO emotional or intellectual investment in the 30+ films and Godzilla canon. They espcially have no clue what Mothra is about and missed the 11 appearances over the 65 years, espcially missing the Toho films of the 90's only release in Japan. DO YOUR GODZILLA KAIJU RESEARCH BEFORE GOING TO SEE THE FILM AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE REASON WHY MOTHRA, RODAN, GHIDORAH, AND GODZILLA are of massive significance culturally, spiritually, emotionally, and what they represent socio politcally. From Day One Godzilla has been the creation as a statement against the atom bomb, and moving foward he became a statement against nuclear waste, air polution, polution of the ocean, etc. and how what we as humans do to this planet to destroy it. If such creatures existed today, they SHOULD reclaim the planet because we've doomed it. Mothra IS a spirutal being, Rodan at one point was a serogate to a Mothra egg. Ghidorah was originally a space creature that became a protector when Godzilla was 'off'. To say that this film "fails" at it's own canon which IS a blend of antcient beliefs of our being responsible for (mother) earth with the political statement about what we've done to harm it and how it tears us apart as a race is idiotic. It NAILS this, finally, in a US film SOLELY BECAUSE THE FILMMAKERS FINALLY CONSULTED TOHO. These characters were created between 1954 and 1961 with Ghidorah showing up in 1964. If you don't know your Godzilla and Kaiji canon don't go see the film until you do your homework. Walking into Godzilla King of the Monster 2019 with nothing in your pocket other than Godzilla 2014 is the same as try to watch Avengers: Infinity War and Avenger: Engame but having seen NONE of the 10 years worth of MCU films to lock in an emotional and intellectual investment. (It's also why people keep commenting on all the things Captain American would or could have seen or done after he stayed in the 40s - TIME DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY, he's on a new world line). Start with watching Rodan's solo film, then Gojira 1954, Godzlla vs Mothra (aka The Thing) 1961, Ghidora's two back to back films, etc. Or, shut up.

Anxious, but relieved (spared again)
27 April 2019
I've been waiting for this film since April 2018 after Infinity War. I've read theories etc and the anxiety skyrocketed the two weeks leading up to the opening. Now that I've seen it I can say think Infinity War might be a 'better' film but that might only be because of the unique nature of it (the heroes having lost and the villain trying to be impartial). I think people who don't pay attention to the dialog in End Game will need to see the film more than once. On first glance even avid MCU fans well versed in all the films will say 'wait, but,....' until you remember what the characters who have spent time in space explain to those who have not.... so without spoiling thing folks might need to look at diagrams relative to the film "Primer" to fully understand what is being exercised in End Game.

One Word: Hole
8 March 2019
I learned the theater in my city/town closed for remodeling - I could not see the film 3/7 but have to drive 25 miles. And guess what? I'm going to... because I heard Courtney Love in a snippet on the internet.

I've been back and forth about this character etc for ages thinking that I want to see Clark Gregg and I want to see the cat. Now that I've seen more of the side characters, and understand the set up, I can honestly say that while you don't have to see this film to see End Game, you MUST SEE THIS FILM because Marvel took the time to use SONGS THAT MAKE SENSE.

Best use of a song for end credits since "Walk" by Foo Fighters was used for Thor 2011 and "Live to Rise" by Soundgarden was used for Avengers 2012, is now HOLE's "Celebrity Skin "(albeit released in 1998) is used to launch the end credits sequence.

"Oh make me over, I'm all I want to be...." and Danvers as a character is summarized in a 'nough said way with the opening line and the riff the brings it in.

I am once again "owned" by Marvel Studios. Just when I thought it might be time to exit and that they didn't know I was their audience, they NAIL exactly what I as a female and a fully engaged MCU 2008 onward needed.

You gave me an orange tabby AND Clark Gregg AND Courtney? I'm owned and sold - take all of my money (as Kevin Smith would say). And USAF - props again.

Just go see it. Give Stan Lee's estate your money, vote for MCU to keep bringing us films, and just enjoy the 1995 ride.

Just discovered this October 2018
28 October 2018
I just discovered this film by accident and it was probably underrated and probably still is but honestly, with Scott Weiland and Chris Cornell and others gone, especially Robin Williams, while the film has multiple facets it all surrounds the human condition, how to make or break connections, and how we are all just struggling. It's very much a lesson in how to find people in spite of what is going on around you and rise above with them together. It's not the type of film I would normally watch but I saw Robin on screen and had to stop and look. It's well acted and well paced. It is worth watching - it's the human condition.

The best example of why the autonomous car and auto pilot on a car should be abandoned.
7 October 2018
Every Superfriends episode is relevant today from addressing global warning to taking the law into your own hands even if you have the best intentions, this episode speaks to why autonomous car and auto pilot on a car should be abandoned. In 1973 whoever created this new it was a bad idea. Network driven devices,... what happens when the network goes down,.... The original Superfriends episodes should be watched by all children from age 5 to 11 and RE Watched by all adults including but not limited to CEOs and Congress. Yeah, it's that important of a series.

50 YEARS LATER in Limited Theater Release
10 July 2018
Yellow Sub is back on screen but in limited release July 9 and July 14. I would have to drive over 100 miles south or north or north-east to get to a 7pm show .... and I will. This is probably my most watched childhood film. Releasing it remastered in 1999 was genius. From a pop-culture standpoint everyone should see it once. If a Beatle fan it should bee seen multiple times. While the Beatles don't voice their characters and had nothing do to with the art the inspiration to those who did create the film just from a handful of songs is immense. And, if you can find the VHS or Laserdisc you will see the edited version that was available from 1968 to 1999 until the Hey Bulldog sequence was added back in. So, there are two versions to watch.

Short Sweet, Higher Ground, and helps shed the Infinity War shadow
8 July 2018
Good Fun. Based in SF and not New York is always a great change. This film is short but doesn't seem like it. It is clear, introduces characters from comic canon, brings back Janet, drops a hint as to how Scott Lang can go find Tony Stark to fulfill Dr. Strange knowing that Stark had to live to fix things later. Worth seeing if you enjoy Paul Rudd or Evangaline Lilly, or if you are following the MCU, or if you need help reclaiming some "Hope" for Avengers 4. Look up Kyle Hill's youtube Because Science video on why Ant-Man might be the most powerful hero which includes explaining Quantum Mechanics. Quantum Tunneling and World Lines along with "Time Vortex" are important. Worth seeing at least twice pay close attention to the comic book canon references and the Quantum information as it relates to traveling.

EPIC Beyond Words - Someone identify the Rickenbacker At Avengers HQ Please
29 April 2018
I fear that the theater box office might be slow as people who haven't seen the preceding films have to catch up before the film, or people who have only seen some of the films have to go watch the rest before returning for a second viewing.

Minimally one should have seen Ironman 2, all three Thor films, the GotG films, all Captaiin America films, and all the Avengers films along with Doctor Strange and Black Panther. If you these or read the comics it is a film that would be very difficult to follow ( you won't know the collector or why the Reality stone aka the Ether is there, etc.)

That said, if you've been all in since 2008 you're golden. And if you haven't read the comic arcs from which much of this is taken (five different books I think), you might be in for a shock. For me, all the speculation especially as it related to the comics and the actors contracts ends up being blown apart and I was relieved and shocked at the same time.

PS: The Real Question: In the scene at HQ when they discuss Vision and what to do, in the back on a stand next to Black Widow, is a Rickenbacker. Is it a 620 Fireglo DV247 and is it in homage to Tom Petty? It's not the Pete Townshend 360 and its not a bass. Someone find out which Rick is in the stand in the scene. Oh, and what happens to the Cloak of Levitation - does it 'make it'

Krypton (2018–2019)

Brilliant!!
2 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know anywhere in DC Canon where they go 200 years back in the past to great grandfather of Jor El or even the Grandfather of Jor El. The acting is fine for just starting out the use of the Krypton god mythos and living in a domed Kandor is excellent and the premise that Braniac is not unlike Galactus or Paralax is an interesting idea. As least someone is trying to take a bit of canon and do something new. The result will be the same where they have to lead down to the proper canon but its nice to see WB actually take a chance and let a fiction be told. Back in the day for Wars and Trek authors were encourage to write all sorts of stories that made their way into paperbacks that did not become part of canon; I think of this as the same. If someone wants to tell a story, tell it. I wish I had found it before it started - I can barely wait for all 10 eps (I want them all right now right now). Also the timing with the MCU and Disney films coming out hopefully won't stop Wednesday night SciFi channel viewers. I stumbled upon this looking for something else, and I'm so very glad I found it.
