The most complete experience looking into the possible future...
3 April 2006
I've just come out of the theater 75 minutes ago, and I'm still searching for words that can properly describe the experience that it was, to be part of a revolution not to far into a possible future. I'll try of course...: It was a very complete experience. It had all the elements, or at least all the RIGHT elements. When I first decided I wanted to see this film, I knew very little about it, but I put my faith in two facts : Natalie and the Wachowski brothers !

I knew (!) this was going to be a sci-fi action movie with a good story, great effects, great acting and likely a few surprises, but what I got was SO much more ! Before I went in I was wondering if the film and the story would actually TOUCH me at the emotional level. How DEEP would it be ? Well, it was DEEP ! I could actually FEEL what Evey was going through, since Natalie Portmans acting was so convincing that I completely forgot and/or ignored that she was speaking with a British English accent. I was there with her, living it through her, and it gave me both thrills, scares, joys, tears and goosebumps from start to finish ! She is nothing short of brilliant in this movie, worthy of an Oscar for sure, and I'm NOT just saying that because I'm a big fan of hers...!

The last touch to this film is the dialogue. It's genius ! Intelligent and well chosen for this type of film. Big words and long sentences that SOME people might find a bit on the heavy side, and possibly a little hard to understand if English is not your first language, but it works ! It's used mainly by V when he on several occasions tries to make us (Evey) understand the point of it all, without telling her too much at a time. And being a KIND of a "wanna-be" Shakespearean character it's very cool that he quotes Shakespeare from time to time, and of course always on the RIGHT occasions. Only very few other actors could pull that off, and make us believe it, but Hugo Weaving does it very well indeed.

Personally I don't think I've seen a more complete movie since "LEON - the Professional" (My all-time favorite!). It gave me the feeling of having been part of something really special, and in my experience not many movies can give a person that feeling ! Is it a coincidence that Natalie Portman stars in both "V for Vendetta" and "LEON", you ask ? Do yourself a favor : If for no other reason, at least go see this movie to find out just HOW good she is ! I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed !

The funniest movie in a VERY long time !
27 January 2005
Trey & Matt has done it again ...AND they've managed to do something that most people thought could not be done : They've taken the concept of comedy to a whole new level ...MARIONETTES !!!!!!!

No one believed it could be done. No-one dared to even think it ...except THEM ! Trey Parker & Matt Stone not only dared to think it, they actually did it, and successfully too ! Indeed, in hindsight, no one else COULD have pull this off, no way !!! Only the creators of South Park could make this new concept a success, and they did !!!

I'm a regular visitor at the cinema, I go to the movies approx. 20-25 times a year, there's pretty much no comedy worth seeing that I haven't seen, and I swear to you : I haven't laughed this much in 12 years !!! I couldn't stop ! Here's some non-spoiling clues as to why this is the comedy of the decade :

Have you ever seen a marionette fire off a machine-gun or a rocket launcher ? Have you ever heard a marionette say "f**k" ? Have you ever seen a marionette in a nude scene ? Have you ever seen a marionettes head explode ? ...and the no. 1 : Have you ever seen a marionette puke ??? If you have - you only THINK you have !

Go see the movie, you won't regret it ! But be warned ; Laughattacks are plenty and overwhelming ...yes, it WILL HURT !!!!! :-D

Fast, fun and fingerlicking cool !
12 November 2002
Taxi 2 is a classic example that it IS possible to make a great sequel ! It's got everything you'd expect from a future classic action-comedy ...and it's French !?! Well, it's no surprise to this critic. Author and producer Luc Besson hasn't let me down yet. The guy just doesn't make a bad movie ! Just go see it, you'll know what I'm talking about !

The humor never reaches the level we hoped for
17 August 2002
The title as well as the trailer promises a fun movie, a good fun comedy, but it just never really delivers. Sure there's two or three good laughs along the way, but that doesn't make a very convincing comedy on it's own. And the plot is so predictable, you feel like you've seen the movie a hundred times already. From a man's point of view, this is the kind of movie that you only want to go watch if the girlfriend/wife wants to. It's not worth the effort OR your hard earned money !

The bad acting overshadows everything else
17 August 2002
The acting in this movie is so bad, that it's actually quite funny to watch, which is the only reason I didn't give this movie a 1 ! Other than this : Predictable plot, boring and un-creative monsters, a trying-to-hard wanna-be bad guy, almost amusing robot guards that argues among themselves and of course... very nice half-naked girls in leather bikini's.

Draghixa lights up yet another film
30 July 2002
I'll make it short. From a mans point of view this is good porn. Scenes are very nicely shot in the halls and rooms of an actual hospital. It gives the movie a certain amount of credibility. Great angles and close-ups. Good looking actresses, whereof most of them appear to really like the freaky stuff. And then there is Draghixa...! Once again she's a feast to our eyes. She'll do it all, and she does...

Only downside to this film is the fact that it's dubbed. Pretty big downside I think. I really prefer Draghixa's own voice over any german one. German dubbing sounds so fake, and this one is no exception.

Best non-stop action from the Master himself
6 July 2002
John Woo has proved it again. No-one does it better than him. It's a symphony of action, drama, suspense, thrills and superb acting from Cage and Travolta. All is blended wonderfully with a music-score that makes the final outcome simply perfect ! I worship you, Master Woo !

Fantasy or reality ? It's time to live out your dreams !
25 June 2002
Breathtaking from start 'till finish ! A plot so well thought through I've never seen before. And it's perfectly backed up by stunning effects and great acting. Turn off all the light, and lock the door. Sit down in a digital surround sound environment and hold on to something, cuz this one will blow your mind ! What's fantasy and what's reality ? At first it won't matter, but after a while you'll start to wonder, and THAT's when your journey begins ...your personal journey into the MATRIX universe !

See it ...and commence your journey ! There's nothing more to say...

...and thus begins the science fiction era !
25 June 2002
The first, the original, the only ...STAR WARS ! This is where it all began, when the Science Fiction concept was finally accepted among the broad audience. And what a beginning - the ultimate adventure, a story of good versus evil, and the scene set in outer space... does it get any better ? No ! The only reason I don't give it a perfect 10 is because that should be a privilege for true perfection only. When you have watched Star Wars as many times as I have, you begin to see the little flaws. Granted, for 1977 the flaws are pretty meaningless, still - they are there.

But Star Wars should be watched as an important piece of movie history as well as a damn great science fiction/adventure experience ! If you have not seen it yet, which I find hard to believe, do so. You will NOT be disappointed !

High level of entertainment in spite of Lucas' stray from original SW-formula
6 June 2002
Great film. Contains all that we might expect in an adventure-science fiction movie of the 21st century; Action, thrills, comedy, romance and tears (drama) ...not to mention the superb special effect throughout the entire film. But a perfect 10 it's not. There's still too much Disney over the two droids. In short; the movie is still not dark enough (and who knew R2D2's capabilities were THIS advanced...?). At first I thought the lines spoken by Anakin and Padmé, when they were alone, were very un-original, but after having seen the scenes three times, I realized that it's Hayden's rather poor acting skills that's off. Don't get me wrong; I like him, and I think he's right for the part, but those lines could've been read with a LOT more credibility than that. He's sounds like he's late for date or something. Last there's the little things like why the spacecruisers and fighters all of a sudden sounds like propeller-driven aeroplanes ??? NOT good ! Still... I'm a hardcore starwars fan... Any sci-fi fan would be a fool not to go see it,...it's worth it, I guarantee it !

Perfection on a screen
6 June 2002
Words fail me, it's SO awesome ! It's a must-see for everybody - there's no getting around this one. Seen with sci-fi/adventure eyes : This one will never ever be topped ! ...unless Tolkiens two sequels by some miracle manage to impress us even more, in which case we'll need an 11 on the rating scale !

The most complete movie I've ever seen
5 June 2002
Ever since I saw LEON for the first time I've had it on my personal top 3 movie list of all times and genres. Like the summary says; it's got everything : Action, love, thrills, comedy, tears and much more. But what really makes this movie truly unique is these three things : 1) Really great acting by both Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and Natalie Portman (she is simply the coolest!). 2) A plot that is both credible and original, thanks to the creative skills of director Luc Besson, whom I consider no less than a God ! 3) Original Soundtrack by Eric Serra - words fail me. The music really catches the intensity of the film, and adds to it. The last piece that makes LEON complete as a truly great movie experience.

Perfection has been achieved at last !
