WALL·E (2008)
Tender, Funny, Sweet!
One of the best movies I've seen lately! Every scene was so well crafted. The graphics of WALL-E on Earth are incredible. You can tell that Pixar THOUGHT about what they were creating, as opposed to just thinking about how to make a buck. Funny thing is, they are going to do just that. This is going to be a blockbuster! Instead of filling their movie with snappy, sassy or suggestive one-liners (as virtually every other movie company would have done) Pixar filled it with sweet and simple emotions, conveyed through tiny gestures, eye movements, sighs and vocals. There's virtually no dialogue whatsoever. Don't think for one moment you'll be bored with that, though. You'll be hoping WALL-E can win the girl (robot) and rooting for him all the way! (I'm not going to reveal any plot details -- just go see it!) Hey, this movie made me LIKE his little cockroach sidekick, and made me believe that two robots were MEANT to fall in love! Well done, Pixar! Keep 'em coming!
Cars (2006)
FUN family movie!
It is so rare to find a fun FAMILY movie that everyone can enjoy! This is such a film! Funny and feel-good with AWESOME computer graphics that 8 to 80-year-olds will enjoy. Everything looks so real -- the textures, the colors, the light reflections -- that you won't remember that it's all just little colored pixels. We loved it! See it on the big screen to enjoy the super fast speed sequences. A classic! Funny, silly characters and NOTHING "bad" snuck in just for cheap laughs (moms, you'll know what I mean.) Trust me, your whole family will like this movie! (Oh yeah, it's also fun to spot (hear) celebrities like Paul Newman and race car drivers like Mario Andretti, too.) GO! GO! GO!
The Fog (2005)
The WORST!
The worst movie I have ever seen (so far)! It deserves a "1," but I'm saving "1" for the movies they make when I'm 70 years old.
I wasn't expecting much but I thought "at least it will have a few scary parts to grab me." WRONG! As far as I could tell NO ONE in the theatre was scared ONCE -- not even those teen girl screamers that are always at horror flicks. I think everyone was CONFUSED, not scared -- Why the two love interests for Nick? Why was Elizabeth envisioning the past? Why did no one comment on the one guy's face ROTTING? Why did no one care the priest was drunk all the time? Why did it matter that the statue was made incorrectly? Why did the ghosts resort to using GRAFFITI? (and why did they use what looked like paint?)
WHY? WHY? WHY DID I PAY MONEY TO SEE THIS? Instead of paying for this, ask an eight-year-old, heck, make it a seven-year old to tell you a scary story. I GUARANTEE he or she will come up with a better plot, more realistic characters, and scarier scenes than this piece of garbage!
