Abraham Lincoln (2022)
Well done with one exception.
My only complaint in this show was that they used Obama in it to give his opinion. I didn't like him in office and see no value of him or his opinion now. The only thing worse would be the mistake that is in there now.
Noah (2014)
Basically the only biblical connection was the name Noah.
This movie has almost nothing to do with the story of Noah. Do not watch this expecting any real biblical content.
3 from Hell (2019)
Don't waste your time or money.
Captain Spaulding is barely in it. 90% of the movie is about Baby. Rob Zombie apparently was needing more screen time for his wife. The story was horrible like they had no idea where they were going. I couldn't wait for it to be over. I kept hoping it was going to get better, it didn't.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Pointless beginning ending seemed thown together at the last moment.
The homosexual scene in the beginning of the movie added nothing to the story. There was no back story of why Pennywise took the form of a clown. The ending seemed throw together at the last moment. I would not recommend this movie to anyone. The only thing that made it worth watching at all is that it had several scenes with the kids from the first remake in it.
Where the Lilies Bloom (1974)
Great movie didn't like the dad.
This review is only for the movie, I haven't read the book yet. Roy Luther gave me the impression he was lazy. I know he was sick but it didn't mention if his sickness was why the got in tax trouble. I do remember Mary Call saying he was supposed to fix the room but it wasn't his way. I took that meaning he was lazy. Also regardless of whether sickness caused the tax issue or not, he should have been grateful that Kiser didn't kick him and his family off the land. He showed none what so ever. Then he put a 14 year old girl in a situation they should never have been in. I had to put that out there as I'm sure others felt the same.
The Judge (2014)
Great start to an awful end.
This movie started out really great. Loaded with great actors and great dialog in the beginning. About 3/4 through the movie it fell on it's face. It went into a spiral an never pulled out. I especially felt it was extremely weird that Downey's character made out with a girl who turned out to be his niece. I also thought putting his daughter and wife in the movie was kind of pointless especially the dialog with his daughter about a possible divorce. It added nothing to the movie. Honestly his whole fling with his ex didn't add much either. I was ready to buy this movie for my father as he loves these actors but the ending changed my mind. I really felt it had a good chance to be a good movie but they ended really poorly. If it wasn't for the great actors I would have gave it a 3.
Foxfire (1987)
Could have been so much better.
I will say right off this review has a spoiler. Now I loved the first two thirds of the movie. It appeared to have set up a really good story line and then it never occurred. They introduce the character Holly and then she tells how she has a crush on Dillard. We know his wife has left him. Dillard's mother wants to stay home and not move. Dillard finds out that Holly and his Mother do not like his new way of singing and wish he would sing like he used to. He sits down to do just that at one point and that is the end of it. He never pursues Holly and talks his mother into leaving her home. Why even have Holly in the movie? Why even have Dillard's father in the movie if they were leaving? A much better movie would have him move back home to his homestead and marry Holly. Raise his kids in the mountains. The movie looked to have set up a great movie and then threw it out the window. It would have been great except for the ending.
Heartbreak Ridge (1986)
Good movie made on the wrong coast.
I loved this movie with the exception that it was filmed on the wrong coast. I'm a Marine from the 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, which is the unit they are supposed to be in. It definitely is not Camp Lejeune, NC. No mountains there. If it had been shot on location it would have been perfect. As for the Recon being as undisciplined as they were, it was on the extreme side of reality. Recon did get away with a lot compared to other grunts but there are perks to being in an elite unit. Most of the actors did a pretty good job portraying Marines. This is in my top three movies about Marines. Being a Marine is a part of my life I will never forget. One last thing, it was said the Marine Corps disowned this movie officially when it came out. This was said because of the foul language. Reality, Marines cuss, and often, it is a fact. The move was only for PC reasons. Ask most Marines and they liked the movie.
The Expendables 3 (2014)
Great Movie.
I had read the reviews before seeing this movie and wasn't expecting much. It was way better than most people gave it credit for. I loved the cast. Kelsey Grammar's character was a hoot. I was afraid he wouldn't mesh well with all of the big action stars. He did great and held his own. His part was well written. I wish there would have been a little more back story on the new guys. It was good seeing Wesley Snipes back in action. Antonio Bandaras character was a mess but still fun to watch. Harrison Ford was fun to watch in this movie. Ronda Rousey got bad reviews from others but I thought she did fine especially when you consider it was her first big film. Mel Gibson did a great job as the bad guy. My only complaint was the fight scenes in the end were way too fast to see what was really happening. Over all I loved the movie. If you liked the others you should like this one. It was very funny and I saw nothing that would be too much for kids who watch action movies already. Great movie.
The Wolverine (2013)
Not the Best but Watchable
This was not as good as I thought it could be. The story was way too slow for your typical comic movie. I feel that the movie will not appeal to younger audiences as they will loose interest early in the movie. I biggest problem with the movie in my opinion was the lack of adventure compared to other movies involving Wolverine. There also wasn't very much comic relief that is usually in these movies. I felt it was more of a love story than an action movie. There are not very many mutants in the movie. A real downer, in my opinion. Many of the big stuff that were in this story I felt were not good for the storyline. There aren't very many mutants, and the ones there are weren't very important to the story. If you do go see the movie stay around for the credits there is stuff to see during the credits. I just felt the writing did not live up to other movies with Wolverine. This story had a good idea poorly executed.
Grown Ups 2 (2013)
My Family Loved It!
If you liked the first one you'll love this one. I found it to be a really funny movie that was not too over the top for my teenage daughters. I felt like the story was very entertaining. It was a typical Adam Sandler movie. You either like him or you don't, my family does. This is another movie I will buy when it goes to DVD. It has potential for an awesome soundtrack also, if released. This is one of the most under rated comedy's of the year. Everyone in the theater was in stitches. Maybe it didn't touch people of all backgrounds but the people here in the Midwest loved it. The funniest movie Shaq has been in. It really was good from beginning to end. I would like to see it again. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Adam Sandler movies. He absolutely done worse movies.
