Midnight (1934)
Excellent Crime Flick
I just came across this old Bogie flick. The description shown on Amazon prime made it sound rather interesting.
With a couple of twists and turns occurring quite unexpectedly, added to some very fine acting, not only by Bogart but also by the rest of the cast, it will definitely keep you 'off balance' trying to figure out what is happening next.
O. P. Heggie plays his part so well, you feel his inner turmoil and angst as he faces the toughest decision of his life, which he knows he must at some point soon. Will he go against everything he has stood for all his life, or forsake those values when a situation occurs which could devastate his family?
Alpha House (2013)
Too Much, Totally Unnecessary, Gratuitous Cursing
While I do, occasionally, utter a couple of expletives, I couldn't even watch 10 minutes of this, due to every other word being the 'F' word or some other offensive expletive.
The Twilight Zone: Judgment Night (1959)
Great Emotions Shown By Persoff
As an actor, it is often very difficult to convey a particular emotion to the audience in a very credible way. Here, nehemiah Persoff very successfully transfers the anguish of not being able to remember his past to the audience. Your mind moves with his as he gradually changes from that anguish to the fear knowing that death could could come at any time when the subject of German subs attacking the Glasgow comes up. The viewer can almost feel his righteous indignity when he corrects the 'facts' being cited by Major Devereaux about German subs. Overall, a notably outstanding performance by Mr. Persoff.
MacGyver: The Ten Percent Solution (1989)
An Excellent Episode
When Sam (Nehemiah Persoff) is asked when the painting was stolen, he says, "1940, a Saturday morning", very quickly. Later, he is again asked when it was stolen and he again, clearly and slower this time, says '1940'.
In two places I have read that someone thought he was saying '1948', them saying that the Nazi's wouldn't have been confiscating art at that late date but I just watched this on Amazon Prime and 'rewound' it a couple of times. The first time he says '1940', he adds 'a Saturday morning' so quickly that the 'a' sounds like '8'. When he repeats it later, there is no mistaking that he says, "1940".
