Terminator - children version
11 May 2016
Let's try to figure out what happened when they decided to do this movie. "Hey guys, what's up with Terminator?" "oh man is over we got beyond the trilogy and the last one was a mess." "oh no way, that's right without Arnold is not the same" "yes I know, how old is he again?" "almost 70" "almost 70, damn... I mean, can't he just play again as terminator" "guess it's now or never" "OK let's call Arnold, I mean, what to loose?" "yeah but, we can't make it like the last 2, we need a 100% return of investment" "yes, right well... let's just throw in the classic love story, a bunch of cliché dialogues and the same old happy ending with not too much drama so the kids will not be terrified" "the kids?" "yeah, of course, what's the target here? Terminator 1 was in the 80's, all those ones have a family now and need to bring the kids out with them, we can't make it too harsh" "got you, OK well, let's not get Mila Kunis though, she is too expensive, get another actress, still the same type of stereotypical beauty" To play Sarah Connor?" "of course, who else?" " you mean a naive Sarah Connor, that will not work out" "Oh man, turn off your brain, that's Hollywood here, stereotypes, stereotypes, that's a home run with profits". "Alright then, you want to call Disney Pixar?", "nah, they are busy with Zoolandia, a much better investment." "I see..."

a masterpiece, should have a better title though!
23 March 2012
I am so glad I've watched this movie. I was overwhelmed by all the Hollywood crap and this instead is a genuine example of a true, funny and deeply romantic love story, exactly what I was expecting.

These are the movies that inspire the filmmaker to do movies, and I am one of them. Sean Ellis in a simple but sharp way throw a love crush into an whole world. I loved the flash backs, the idea of time freezing and the characters of the script, so well build and interpreted by the actors.

I have no words to describe how beautiful is this masterpiece. Thanks to exist.

Avatar/Prince of Persia mix?
19 March 2012
I'm just back from an IMAX 3D experience with John Carter, the latest Disney movie. I am pretty happy with it especially thanks to the last 5 minutes which turned out to made ALL the entire movie making sense, I confess I was about to be pretty disappointed if the movie would have been end with Carter marrying the Mars princess.

As I say in the title, to me this movie was nothing more than a mix between Avatar and the previous Disney movie Prince of Persia and I'll tell you why.

AVATAR: Not only the aliens pretty much look like the avatar ones, but even the Center of their religion is a huge tree, which this time is DRY and the space shift again looked like the avatar ones.

PRINCE OF PERSIA: the Idea of the trip in the desert of John Carter and the Princess of Mars, not only that but the setting of their relationship is pretty much the same: that kind of powerful man who treats his girl mean sometimes but in the end loves her. John Carter character was more Man rather than Jake Gyllenhal I have to say though.

About the department:

Photography: nice and well done. I liked the 3d and the panoramic view of the scenes. I would say something more could have been done to make the fighting scenes more entertaining.

7/10

music: honest and pleasant, I don't remember it so probably was not that special, but at the same time, it never get out of theme and stays perfectly in line with the moods of the scenes.

6/10

costumes and locations: I liked the Roman style of the martians, and the simplicity of Carter one. The aliens were nice looking, I would say they look like the Street Fighter Indian warrior. and locations were OK, again nothing that special, but OK.

7/10

editing: good and simply, straight to the point, I would give an 8 to it because of the nice interlace of the first and last scenes. the ones of the earth. I liked that.

8/10

director: I would have expect more from the actors at some point, and also some camera shot could have been better.

7/10

I don't really want to continue forever with this analytic thing, let just say that I have to admit at one point I kinda feel asleep, so don't expect a master piece. It is a nice movie, not a MUST SEE, so look around, there might be other worthwhile seeing. Disney could do better I'm sure.

Easy Watching.
16 December 2011
Let's just say it: Charlize Theron made this movie, if it wasn't for her my 7 would had been a 6 or even a 5.

The screenplay especially was not good at all at certain times, has any of you remember the line at the buffalo bar "what are you doing here? I'm....bla bla bla... the question is, what you are doing here..." Horrible, and other couple of moments were not just right.

Another thing I don't like was this so weird relationships between Theron and the fat guy. I mean, was it a need of it? Are we sure, well... let me get this straight: I think Theron by her self would have it made it better rather than through dialogs/confession with the fat guy which I don't even remember the name actually!

Charlize Theron was great, and I agree with the most that think that it is one of her best performance, but sorry for her, she wasn't lucky enough to have a great crew on the back of her shoulders like for instance happen to mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler".

As I'm saying in the title: EAsy movie, lower down your expetacion because it won't be a surprise for you, but Theron makes it funny and delightful and I'm so glad she did her job well done!

Nonthe less a lot of things were missing by the character played by Patrick Wilson, I mean, I couldn't believe that a girl with you you were having a child and had a natural abortion wouldn't really matter more in your life.

I mean, if it was me, no matter my wife and my life, that would have been something so strong and almost unbearable to handle, in some scenes he plays like she is just one of her ex girlfriend, nothing more. The character deepness should have been developed more and I'm sorry for Patton Osvalt but even his character lack of something, especially humor actually, I don't know, I'm so disappointed when a great performance of an actor is kinda compromised by what surrounds it.

The only supporting character who I pretty much enjoy was Theron's father, who was really cool actually and played a simple and straight forward role.

I was supposed to give an 8 to this movie, but writing this review I discover there were too much stuff I didn't like much so I stay on a 7.

that was a big spine chilling
17 June 2011
Just finishing of watching this movie, I have to thank God my girlfriend got home a little earlier not to let me finish watching it alone.

This movie was not just scary, was way realistic, and when I mean real I link it to facts and events well documented in the "ghost departments" and the thing that actually scared me the most is that I had an ex-girlfriend experiencing kinda the same stuff as Katy does.

This film was way too terrifying for me I had to take off my earphones a couple of times and just pause it at least three. I actually couldn't stand to the "drag" scene, and the last was just so suddenly cruel I didn't expected it, I mean, wasn't it a day by day slow grow of elements?

What the hell was going on with that crazy monster? I was thinking about some "relief" or some holy stuff, that was so cruel and it actually chilled my spine from up to down giving me the freaking "amygdala shaking" sensation.

This "scariness" didn't happen to me since 10 years ago when I first tried to play Silent hill alone in my house with all lights turned off at midnight, the worst experiment ever.

Good job guys, this movie scares more than any other on the market! And BTW 8/10 is the maximum I give to the Horror Genre, so consider it a 10/10.

Kick-Ass (2010)
9/10
Way beyond my expectation!
16 June 2011
I was at the point to think that there would have been any more super hero movie that could surprise me till I saw Kick-ass.

Such an amazing work, able to combine a down to heart plot to a super - hero legend. The movie start kinda like American pie and end like Green Hornet, having in the middle this surrogates of Batman played by Cage which is a really funny character "Big-daddy".

I am still astonished by the main actor performance which was unbelievably true and real, also I like the photography and the special effects.

I decided to gave it a 10 as I did for "the dark knight" because I believe this is the light-side of it, or maybe the teenager version actually.

Only thing I don't like at times was the soundtrack, actually to pushed to the "parodistic" in some scene, but still it wasn't enough bad to get it down to a 9/10. IT is absolutely a masterpiece and most of all, an inspiring movie.

Kick-ass kick the major ass!

Bad Moon Rising!
15 June 2011
Sam Bell caught my attention and empathy throughout the entire movie. The atmosphere surrounding the Moon and the inside of the bay's was dark and disturbing, but I have to say the story goes out to a point of a uniqueness I couldn't find in any recent movie.

I like the Camera, the location, the music, Sam and the Spacey robot. Nothing was forced to be too far from reality, and the special effect were content enough.

I like the choice of a sick Sam and a brand new Sam, the choice to make the "controllers" looking like bad guys just out of jail and the "emotional" side of the robot which gives to the relationship a tender quietude which I liked.

I have to say there's something missing beside the everlasting loneliness sensation, but this lack of "action" makes this movie unique in his style and an unforgettable one for me.

Good Job guys!

Triangle (2009)

Pretty good film, some plot incongruence must be put in evidence though
25 November 2010
Despite at first sight I felt it was the obvious movie about friends lost and killed, like the previous movie of the director, which was a laugh riot rather than an horror, I have to say watching it that it caught my attention and especially my critic side.

I won't spend time saying the acting was good, photography and editing as well, pretty good soundtrack, but what I found in this movie, discussing with a friend of mine was:

  • first of all, the protagonist follow a straight time line from the beginning of the ship sequence to its end (the death of her while she was masked), and it comprehend 3 and I underline, 3 times the ship comes back. So... if the times where just 3, how could the red haired woman been death so much time, and how could have been written so many papers and so many lost collar? If it was a never ending sequence, like this elements suggest, the ship would have been rather full of people trying to kill each other, don't you think? beside the fact that the repeating sequence didn't valid for the other guys on the ship, who where not so many, and most of all: have you ever seen two masked guy on the ship? the answer is NO.

  • second: I would have conceived that once the protagonist would have come back to the island the time line started again to be "straight" rather than circular. I didn't get the birds on the reef and most of all, I didn't get the fact that with a surrealistic act, the protagonist appear ALIVE" after being in a death frame with her child. Where the hell she came from? that sound non sense to me mostly because if we assume that the time is circular even on the island, so... how could it be linear?, I mean... it is a complete chaos, the protagonist wouldn't even get old in this way.

  • Third: I don't get where it all started from. Since the movie seems not to complain any mental disorder or coma status of the protagonist, I don't get the beginning why the story happen, does she have to understand something? it doesn't seems so. Does she have to die? So why?... Is she trapped with the fact that she doesn't want to accept the death of his child? so why there seem not such to be a cathartic moment...

at times I think that the plot choices for the actors are just weird and doesn't seem to contemplate all the options of action.

I mean, comparing this movie with Inception, I couldn't find a logic a math formula to interpret it. Even Donnie Darko talk about time line, but still referring to a straight line. In Triangle the Director pretended to much from the plot and end it with a tail bite. I preferred a car accident death with the ending title rather than the taxi driver, because, if you think about it as a curse, this would have been happen once the girl beaten her child, not on the ship... but at that time the time was straight, so she might chose NOT to go on the ship again...

I would like to have some comment on it because I didn't find any good comments on the plot which I would like have! Cheers...

Tim & Johnny I won't buy you this time.
5 March 2010
Dear Tim,

I really like your style, your way of chew stories and create masterpiece, BUT this time there's was something wrong with the plot, 3D is boring to my self till it won't be better, but this doesn't matter, PLOT was not good at all, not coherent with the original, not strong and not convincing.

THEN... no one talked about Alice character: I mean where was her curiosity???? NOT AT ALL. I'm so disappointed with Alice character cause She didn't express love for the world she most love, she was just "use to it" which I don't buy, Alice was Use to it, but not just that, she loves her world, she would forget the real one for that.

The Screenplay: I didn't like the "I'm in a dream" so often, We all know that it WASN'T just a dream, and Pinko Panko and Panko Pinko dialogs... what a shame! Not funny.

Photography: The only thing I like, good, simple and smart.

Editing: Man, I would get some SPEED.

Johnny: Johnny poor Johnny, as my girlfriend just said, we are tired about "no sex" character, The MAd Hatter was boring, predictable and depressed.

I liked Anne Hatway, I loved her here, She is the star in a dark sky.

In the end, I'm afraid this was not what I was expecting and I pray Tim not to get into projects he's not personally involved emotionally, I won't say Tim Burton loved Alice in Wondderland as much as I do, so please next time, just stay out of it.

Thank you.

The worst Tinto movie. It would have been avoided to shoot.
14 February 2010
This is not Tinto Erotic Genius, this is a fragmented re edition of his last movies from "Così fan tutte" to "Fallo!" What I have noticed watching this last movie of Tinto carrier is that there is a re edition of same sex scene and stories that this time where TOTALLY fragmented and non sense. If I think about it I just see this young Ukraine actress with her bouncing ass and boobs, and that's it.

What I have to say is that I do not agree with the decision to use a WAY BAD actor in the role of the lover, especially when before him Occhipinti did. Occhipinti performance in The Key and Così fan tutte were genius and well done. INSTEAD this time actors are so bad!!! the acting is horrible, light are horrible, screenplay is stupid and horrible, photography not at all like I remember it in the past Tinto Movies and I would say the only thing to save are the paintings. that's it.

I didn't like this movie at all and I'm sorry to Tinto to which I usually give a from 6 to 8 score. This time is 3/10. He had to finish his carrier with Fallo!, this is a useless and nonsense film which I think He has done just for movie or forced by someone else who wants to make movie on him and his name.

Hopefully Tinto won't dare to make another movie.

Simple and well done. European movies rocks!
10 February 2010
I can't believe how I keep on discovering GREAT European actors, some of the WAY better than Hoolywood stars, how could it be? True emotions, simple and catching story and a really good editing with perfect cut and as fast as I like it to be. Good costumes and locations. The way this movie talks about a simple and catching story is smart and interesting to see.

Music lace together all of us and this movie is an emblematic example. I must admit every character is deep investigated by the actors which are one best than another. Great Atmosphere and a good photography makes this movie a really WELL DONE JOB!

8/10.

Am I the one who thinks the end was not that great?
7 February 2010
First of all, I love this movie and it is a Tarantino's film, so since the first time I'm starting to watch it over and over catching the minimal glimpse or sense into the scenes.

Tarantino's fetish's never disappoints.

About Actors, man I have to say Christop Waltz is a master in his role, I just saw in trivia section of IMDb that Tarantino wanted Leo DiCaprio for that role, but no way Christope Waltz is the best, after his scenes I unconsciously started to imitate him. And the Sherlock Holmes Pipe? the way to put ink? Cigarette in the strudel? but the scene I love the most of him was the one where he indicates with the pointing finger the place for the lady to put his foot: way too funny!

I won't be that good with Brad who did a pretty good job, but still lack of characterization.

About other actors, I didn't believe German actors where that great! I'm thinking of flying to German to catch actors for a movie...

one of the reasons why I din't give him a 10 is that I did't see any redemption or cathartic moment, I mean there are some, but none of them strikes much... not as much as the one of Jules in Pulp Fiction actually.

What else to say, Tarantino have changed history with this masterpiece and I have another movie to work on for my acting style!

God bless him

Avatar (2009)

1 hour and a half with growing tears. I ain't thigh it was possible since AVATAR
24 January 2010
When a smart and creative idea meets a great director of photography, a great editor and a great director, then AVATAR comes out.

I don't mean to leave out the actors job which still is over the top of what I usually expect from actors, especially after I have seen 2012 which comparing with avatar is 2/10 rating.

Excellent work on graphic, and smart especially because this sci-fi was not something we can't even imagine, but a reality where things we usually like are powered: The led on natures, the blue-green gradient, the tall blue habitants of Pandora, the great half dinosaurs creatures...

AND the MOTION. The motion of things, animals and people was everything. From my point of view, Dynamism was the best part of it, besides the beautiful special effects of colours and shapes, the quickness of movements of the blue guys was amazing and astonishing. beautiful to see and to feel.

Here another topic: James Cameron know s how to make people FEEL the movie. I don't understand how, but He knows how make us audience sniff flowers, touching the ground, and tasting the air of Pandora. I didn't watch it on 3D so this means it's not about the third dimension.

About actors: I loved most of performance, I got something to say about the cigarettes that could have been avoided besides they have no sense in the movie, but great, great great.

And the best part: When I saw "The dark knight" which I do like a lot, after Harvey got fired in face I told myself "that's the end" and I mean it cause I felt even tired of the next 45 minutes. Comparing to Avatar, I stand with holding tears for 1 hour and a half. For instance, Clint Eastwood movies got you in that mood usually during the last 10/5 minutes and you say "this is a great movie". But Cameron, damn gets you in after a hour and KEEP you there for the next 1 hour and a half, incredible, and when avatar finished, I didn't want it to finish.

I really have a lot to say about it but I'll stop here, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING???? GO AND WATCH IT!

Carlito's Way... You Are So Beautiful
10 January 2010
The Most thing I like about Carlito's way is the weird mix between drama and subtle funny scene. I just can't help my self smiling looking at the guy who run after Carlito in the last scene at Grand Central, he acted like was into Hot shot or a Leslie Nielsen movie, and how about the Big fat guy who didn't even got the chance to shoot right not "one time" to Carlito right in front of him...

And I must not forget the clock at grand central signing 11.17 and the 25 minutes passed without the 11.30 train have been left yet.

I loved Al Pacino acting, simple and deep. Calm like and old and mature man and mean just in the right scene. Nothing over the top and mostly natural.

Sean Penn did a great job, but still... a little more irony in his role have would give the character a spin up.

Good job for Penelope as well in the role of the Al Pacino so long lover, caring and loving.

About the Director of photography I agree with the idea of the big screen shot but some close up were a little "too much", better If they would have been left out in my opinion.

Music... right for the genre, but sometimes it just didn't fit in, I guess something more could have be done on it as well, for instance, nothing comparing with the "taxi driver" soundtrack.

So for a movie that pre load the Pulp Fiction break out, GOOD JOB! 8/10 is fare enough.

That is a wonderful movie!
25 August 2008
There's this weird atmosphere for all the movie that makes you can't look out to see Heat Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall love story in every single scene. It's like everything is surrounding them without affected their feelings for each others. And the thing I was impressed the most is the ability, thanx to the director Ann Lee and also to the editing and scenography section, to make the "Time" absent. It is like no matter how time passing by, no matter where and with who...the focus of the attention is always fresh and vivid on the two lovers.

I like both Gyllehall and Ledger as actors and they really made a good work out there. I would say that no matter how they try to dress Gyllehall, he keeps looking always as a young guy, even with those mustache that actually seemed kinda funny on him.

I would have liked to see more strong intimacy scenes but for what I could understand they cut them off, good to know they were inside the project, cause sometimes the movie seems to slow down too far...but that's the only personal critic.

Excellent work 8/10

Exactly how I have Imagined it, awesome!
2 May 2008
I couldn't pretend better than this. This movie shows exactly the meaning trough the lines of Kundera's novel. Daniel Day Lewis has been great and to be sincere when I was about to watch this movie I was scary to know who's gonna play Thomas character, to who I really felt close to, but when I read Daniel Day Lewis I took a breath, and I can say "obiouvsly" I was right. Great interpretation, and even Teresa, Sabina...so cool, and Franz cool too, even in the novel is the one with the less sympathies on.

I love the plot, and now I love even the filming of it and I'm pleasured to have the imagine of Thomas made up from Daniel Day Lewis.

If I can say the best scene of the movie, or peraphs the one I like the most...what about Thomas met Sabina in Geneva? That dancing of body that they started together and the final imagine with the Sabina at the mirror with the hat, oh wow! And...yes, the end of the movie still reach that sadness that I felt reading the novel, even without some parts of it, like the dream Teresa's made. So sad and pure at the same time.

I ain't give a 9 because it needs a little more from Teresa and Sabina...just a little, but great job! And great director, good choice about the black and withe scenes too!

Surprisingly interesting and cool!
1 May 2008
I was a little undecided to watch this movie or not, 'cause the plot seems to simple or you know, about the same old things: money, girls, Vegas, chasing, etc...Well actually it is about it, though.

BUT: The Cast: - Jim Sturges, what a great interpretation. He looks like he's an England actor, so expressive and into it, a really train wreck actor - Kevin Spacey in the role of the teacher and the business man. Great Work, actually were two different roles in one! - Pretty good even the "girl" of the movie Kate Bosworth - Fishburne not at his best performance, but still good as the Casino Rock.

And the steak is always up to the top. Never fall asleep, or loosing attention, thanx so much to Jim Sturges. And a really good plot.

I can say I was thinking the movie was about to ending with the reconciliation between Kevin Spacey and Jim, like father and son, or something like that. And I get terribly surprised by the changing of the point of view.

Yes, Surprisingly interesting and cool!

I LOVE Manhattan!
18 April 2008
I just said I loved this movie, yes of course I do and especially for the ending. Terrific, as they use to say trough though all over the movie. I am personally watching all Woodie Allen movies. I watched "Bananas", "Everything you always wanted to know about sex" and this is the third one I'm watching. Well, I would say that his style has grown a lot. So stylish now, If in the first comedy we can see the genius and silly curiosity of the young director. Now his style is clear: Love at first place, and always focusing on the relationship between man and woman, not from man side, not from woman side. Just on the Relationship between them. So innocent and at the same time effective.

I love the way he is able to makes the audience see all the 360° spectrum of couple's issues. Great, absolutely great. And at my 25 years old age I can say I saw myself in ALL of them! How forward Woodie is.

If I gotta say a critic to balance I still think he could be a little bit more into the situations, too much into his ironic character I think, but this is a personal opinion, and I'm just say this because I think he is great and soo hard to find something not good in his Terrific works.

So 9/10. Great prove of Meryl Streep, I really appreciate the innocent passion of the Heminghway, terrific in the last scene, and good choice of B/W. The only color mentioned was "The brown water".

Absolutely to watch, I'm so sorry I just saw it at 25 years old!!! And by the way...I'm watching it over again!

See ya, Roberto

When you forgive, you Love
4 February 2008
...When you forgive, you Love And when you Love, God lights paths on you...

Learning the meaning of "happiness sharing" ,Emile Hirsch get on this running away from society and family searching the wildest side of his soul. The deepest connection with nature. The meaning of life. Along the road he'll find out many friends who took care of him and helped to go to the north. Alaska was calling.

The movie is interlaced with past scenes regarding Alaska trip, and scenes regarding Alaska living life. The interlacing gives rhythm to the movie and make it far behind a boring slowness that had could ruin the great atmosphere of the entire work that reaches an holy calm and sense of freedom.

Since Seneca years (3 BC-65 AC) trip were used helping soul becoming healthy, and now more than then we need to find our selves, where society pushing everyday to control everything, many sensible human being could suffer lack of freedom more than others. I think that everyone have had or will have an experience like that. It is not necessary to go to Alaska, but wherever is good to find our personal light inside us. Our truly self.

I think that the movie meaning is much below the appearance. Emile Hirsch sacrifice his self to make everyone has watched the story understand the limits of meaning research. "Sharing happiness" and "reconciliation", kinda like the gospel of the lost child. He didn't succeed in turning back to forgive, his path had a cruel and lonely ending...but probably we find ourselves when we forgive, and once we forgive, we can go back and solve our past. Forgiveness is related to Love, and Love is related to life. Just forgive and sharing happiness. That is what I learned from this movie, that I can tell...it made me pouring a drop at the end, an unexpected one by the way...

I advice everyone watching it, better alone,in a calm and lonely place, you must feel into the wild! Hopefully this could be an inspiration for someone else future thoughts!
