Main Street (2010)
Awful Film, Bad Plot, Poor Directing
Not to knock Hallmark Channel movies, but this is far worse than something that network would air.
Main Street has a fine cast, but the plot is lacking, editing and directing are poor, and the entire film suffers.
There is no antagonist. We keep expecting things that we are being told to develop and instead they do not. Many characters seem to be in a different movie, and sometimes the plot thinks the viewers are in second grade.
For example, one character, we are repeatedly told, used to "go steady" with another character in high school. They are still in daily contact. At one point in the film the other character stops to explain that another character isn't her father, he's her step-father. The first character says, "I know". He should, he dated her for years, according to what the characters keep telling us.
The biggest problem with the film is that it simply ends, with no clear ending point. I felt like much more had likely been filmed but it was edited in this manner to get it out the door and let the studio wash their hands of it.
A complete waste of an hour and a half.
