Dresden (2006)
Too much romance, too less bombs
When you are going to watch a movie called "Dresden", it's logical to think that historical bombing of Dresden must be the main argument in it. Unfortunately in this movie the bombing is almost residual in its plot.
We can see a beautiful (but unbelievable) love story between a British officer of the RAF and a pretty German nurse (all in a few days). No real problem about this, but for my was a disappoint because I waited for something different, for more history and less story.
Finally, bombing of the city happens, of course, but it results no impressive. It was one of the most terrible bombings made in history, but in my opinion this is not reflected in the movie, and this is the main cause of its fail.
Briefing, not a bad movie, but if you want to see a war movie or a disaster movie, try another.
Carmen (2003)
Pretentious and boring
Another pretentious film from Vicente Aranda. If "Juana la loca" shinned of the same, at least its quality was superior (mainly thanks to the great performance of Pilar López de Ayala), but "Carmen" is boring and full of topics (ardent brunette with a dagger in the stocking, poor man dragged to madness due to passion, Sierra Nevada gangs, "toreros",...)
Obviously Paz Vega is a pretty woman, but about its talent there're more doubts, and Sbaraglia role is so stupid that results almost incredible. The script is weak and and Aranda's presumptuous character influences the entire film. With these ingredients the result could not be good.
Not the worst film I've seen, but a complete failure, in my opinion.
Rose Red (2002)
Good entertainment for all Stephen King's style lovers
The film accomplishes the task of entertain its public. As habitual in more Stephen King's adaptations (Langoliers, Golden Years, Apocalipsis, etc.), Rose Red was planned as mini-serie, however my fascination about haunted houses theme and King's novels made me see the film without interruptions and I didn't feel tired.
Actors are correct in their roles and the story (although a little predictable as in most haunted house's films) will not disappoint the lovers of this sub-genre.
