Wherever You Are (2008)
Comment for Rob
I go to Novato High School where this film was shown to my film as literature class by the writer/director. "Wherever You Are" is an amazing portrait of today's American family and I highly recommend it to anyone who feels like their family is dysfunctional... you are not alone. Each of the characters are relatable and not glamorized like most of the Hollywood movies that are out these days. The story is intricate, but realistic enough to believe that it could really happen. There is also witty, inappropriate (but still tasteful) humor sprinkled throughout the intense drama that makes the audience comfortable. Although a lot of the subject matter is very personal and intense, I left the classroom (and later, the movie theater when I saw it again) feeling satisfied and hopeful for the family in the film, and also for my family and anyone else's who might have secrets tearing them apart. It was an overall very polished and poignant film. Also, Rob, if you are reading this, I really like the new title!
