Night Court (2023)
Disgraceful to the Original
I wanted so badly to like the show, and I have stuck through it into the second season simply because John Larroquette has. It has departed so far from what the original was supposed to be. The jokes are terrible. The majority of the characters are unlikable. The cuteness that Melissa Rauch had on big bang is just annoying now. I will probably finish out this season for John, but unless there are major improvements in the remaining episodes, I'm giving up on it, and I think everyone else should too. It's clear now that this show never should have happened. The charisma and talent of the original cast is what it made so special. None of that is present here.
Family Guy: Old West (2023)
Wild West Doesn't Work
I love Sam Elliott, but the Wild West character simply does not work. It does not fit into Family Guy and every episode that involves the character is boring. Definitely does not live up to Adam West. This was a failed experiment that they need to move on from and find a new mayor. Elliot is great when he cameos as himself, but should be limited to that. At this point, I would much rather watch a Meg episode than more of the Wild West stuff. There is infinite potential for a better character in that position. I do not presume to have the answer to who would be a great replacement, but that's why they have dozens of highly paid riders on their staff, who are clearly not earning their paychecks at this point. I have watched family guy since day one and will continue to watch it regardless, but it's getting painful.
The Stand (2020)
Terrible Adaptation of a Great Novel
If you have read the novel or seen the original mini series, this show is not for you. It is shot out of sequence and the acting is subpar. Also, I'm not sure why there's so much focus on Harold. I'm going to give episode two a chance and if it's as bad as episode one, I'm done.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Please Cancel This Show
I was so excited when I heard this is coming out, but it has lost site of everything that Star Trek represents. The characters are boring with the exception of Captain Pike. The plot has completely lost sight of what Gene Roddenberry had intended for his vision. I am hoping this will be canceled and we can all focus on the Picard show.
