It actually is

Hold That Lion, at least the footage of Curly is from that short. Curly had passed away in 1952, and Shemp started having heart problems, so they started more and more in taking old Stooge Comedies and reusing them. That is taking large patches of an Older Shemp Comedy and then adding four or five minutes of new footage. That way it was less strain on an older Shemp, who could not longer do the physical part as well. I too love the Three, actually Six Stooges. I never don't mind Joe De Rita. There's another Curly Cameo from Mlaice in The Place that I saw in a theatre but was cut in TV Prints. Moe, Larry and Shemp rush into the kitchen, and are chased out by a very thin Curly with a handlebar mustache. I hope that they can find this footage.

It Pays to Be Ignorant (1949–1951)
I love It Pays To Be Ignorant
11 March 2006
As there is an air of lunacy about the show ,thats infectious. The Cast is having such a Good Time and some of the answers are such nonsense

that they are hilarious. I wish they would revive that as well. Its similar to The Gus Edwards School Daze Show where the Students never got anything right either. I just bought a CD of It Pays to Be Ignorant and it still is funny. I think that Fred Willard would be great as Host with Jerry Van Dyke,Rose Marie and Geoerge Lindsay as Panelists. I wonder if people Today would find stupidity all that funny,it may be a show of its time as it played off the more serious shows like Information Please and Dr IQ.

One of The Stooges Very Best Comedies!!!
27 December 2005
The amazing thing to me is that Larry finds a man on a Truck with a record player playing Pop Goes The Weasel. The Record never ends and even when Larry crashes the truck through a brick wall the song is still playing at exactly the right spot. And Al Hill was a professional fighter albeit with a career than ended about ten years before this comedy. And Curly was the Butterbean of his generation,on a smaller scale. Look for Maxie Rosenbloom as one of the Fighters that Curly knocks out in the Cafe. And when we watch we love how the little shove that Moe gives Larry ends up with him being about ten feet away, head first in the stream. One of my Favorite Stooge Comedies!

I saw this Short
27 December 2005
Years ago on the PBs Series Matinée At The Bijou, and enjoyed it. Joe Palooka is living high off the Hog in New York City not knowing that his stay is being financed by his manager Johnny Berkes making endorsement deals with rather shady products. When Joe is invited to go on a Radio show and endorse Asphalt Chewing Gum he surprises the sponsor by telling the listening audience that the Gum is poison, and that no one should buy it. What does the sponsor do?He starts a fist fight with the reigning Heavyweight Champion Joe Palooka and gets clobbered on the air. An Entertaining,if somewhat odd Short Film. One wonders how Palloka came to mean a poor Fighter when Joe Palook won all his bouts.

The Lost City (I) (1935)
Lost City is one of my Favorites
17 December 2005
As I saw it as it was intended to be seen at the Delta Cinema,in my home town of Hamilton. They showed a lot of older films as the Gentleman who ran the Cinema was money challenged. So they showed Serials Chapter by Chapter and the Lost City ws one that I saw Three or Four Times when I was young. This is a Serial that throws in everything but the Kitchen Sink, with Africans being turned into Giants,Slave Traders and a Tribe Of Spider Men. There are interesting people like Gabby Hayes, and Gino Corrado who was the Singer in the Three Stooges Microphonies. And Billy Bletcher as Gorzo, who was the voice of the Big Bad Wolf in the Three Little Pigs. And a young Kane Richmond, later on Spy Smasher. The acting is so over the top its enjoyable. I recommend this to anyone who loves that sort of off the wall lunacy in their films.

Curly ,my Favorite Stooge
12 December 2005
Actually Curly did not pass away until January 18,1952. And he made another cameo as an Angry Chef in the 1949 Malice In The Palace, and after he married for the 4th time, and had his second daughter. He is funny in this Comedy, and its nice to see the Howards all together. Its a shame that he didn't take better care of himself. Shemp is excellent here, and is under rated. And Kenneth McDonald is so good here,as he was as the Judge on the Perry Mason shows. His granddaughter Andrea Server is a fine Singer. RIP Curly, you were Funny! And its nice to see Curly as he is quite good in what was clearly an improvised, off the cuff appearance. And Dudley Dickerson was a scream as always.

The Amos 'n Andy Show (1951–1953)
The Song was known,as the Perfect Song
14 February 2005
And was a Hold Over, from the Radio Days! I have some shows, from a Video Store, that no longer carries ,them, because,of one customer, who had never seen, the show! My Favorite Episode, was the Vacation, where The Kingfish, tries to trick Andy, into thinking, that he is getting a Trans Us Tour, while going around Central Park.Or The Rare Coin, where Alhoun,is at his best, that was Classic, and believe me,there are far more offenses shows,on the WB,now!!!The Jackie Childs,on Seinfeld, was about the Only Black Actor,on the show, and nobody, called that racist. And he was a rip off of Alonquin J Calhoun.Great Comedies.Wish,I had the Vacation Episode!
