Vantage Point (2008)
7/10
the jury is still deliberating.

Warning: Spoilers
i didn't know what to expect from this film. i can say that there were plenty of plot twists that will surprise you and keep you interested throughout the movie. one annoying factor is the constant rewinding back to 12:00 noon. that part gets very annoying but its pertinent to each perspective being told.

another part i didn't like was the subtle clue to who was involved in the plot(quaids partner or whoever.dude from party of 5) because it made me automatically point out that he was involved nearly an hour and a half before he was actually implicated. if you notice when he's talking to Quaid in the car and Quaids just talking about being around and thanks him and his partner makes a face and says "Dont thank me yet" ..very subtle clue that goes thru one ear and out the other of most but once i heard it i knew he was either involved or was gonna be killed pretty soon, i was sure he was involved and just as i suspected he was. a movie is never as good to me when i pretty much figure it out early.

Forest Whitaker gives another great performance, albeit a small one. he was charming, informative, curious and even remorseful all in one character. he risks his life for a little girl who he previously had bumped into and keeps her out of harms way to find her mother after an explosion, these events magnify the events going on in his own life(battle with his wife) and make them actually seem much smaller when he thinks about it...good addition to the movie the whole subplot with the one guys brother being kidnapped has nothing to do with the movie. i don't know why it was in there but it easily could have been done without....

the remote controlled gun was amazing lol.. that part surprised me a lot.

overall a decent movie but if you expect it to be groundbreaking throughout you will be a little disappointed.

Senior Skip Day (2008 Video)

surprisingly funny.

Warning: Spoilers
you know how it is with these kind of movies..they usually throw one or two almost notable actors in the mix to garner interest and its usually horrific all the way through.

well this one surprised me a little, not only was it funny but it didn't run too long and it wasn't that immature for a high school movie.

Larry Miller is priceless in this(as he is in just about every role). the scene when he gets handed the cocaine by the mobster is so funny to me when he's like "ohhh this is plenty" or when he's on the phone with his secretary and zones out like "hello my old friend" and takes a whiff..

the only parts i didn't really like were that i think the main character was kind of miscast, either that or he was just kind of annoying, especially at the party when he singles out the girl he likes, he came off so corny there...the girls boyfriend was hilarious though, he played that role very well and made us all wonder what she really wanted him for in the first place.

the movie wasn't great by any means but if you're trying to find a teen style comedy that isn't one of these run of the mill national lampoons or ___movies(insert Scary, Date, etc), then check out Senior Skip Day.

Into the Wild (2007)

wow

Warning: Spoilers
i saw a preview for this at the beginning of like Roscoe Jenkins or something of that nature..figured it'd be interesting, maybe boring, but interesting...well, was in in for somewhat of a surprise.

i loved everything about this movie, so many elements of Chris are in myself, and while i'd never take it to the extremes he did, i can feel for him and understand how he did.

he was rather selfish, especially when it came to his sister, but its ultimately his life. he lived it to the "fullest". he saw things that the avg person would never see outside of a magazine or article.he truly embodied the "live out your dreams" mantra to the fullest. its just a shame that such a slight mistake ultimately cost him everything. them damn lateral veins, one sentence of material could have saved him basically. and just like in every story, once you start to realize why you really did something or loved something, its taken away..

great great movie. i'd recommend it to anyone with an open mind on life or any movie buff. i honestly hate movies for the most part but loved this one. Emile Hirsch is climbing up my list.

Hilarious and Underpromoted..

i saw the commercials on TV for this movie many times, but none of them ever made me want to actually see this movie. it wasn't until i saw a special on Comedy Central about it that i had moderate interest in seeing it...

long story short, someone told me it was very good so i took a chance at my local redbox and i was definitely satisfied by this comedy.

whoever said its in the same vein as Spinal Tap is absolutely correct. the movie is funny throughout and John C Reilly really shines throughout. my favorite in the movie is Tim Meadows, i don't usually like repetitious phrases & whatnot in movies but his "you don't want no parts in this sh*t" had me dying each time. not to mention the 2 wives as well, they stole the show with their antics.

the duets in this movie are hilarious as well. this movie is recommended and easily at least an 8.5 out of 10.

Dewey Cox lives on.
