Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)
Good Review
I enjoyed all the Nightmare movies, but this one is the best since the first. The fact that Wes tried to rationalize his own movie by bringing Freddy into reality so speak makes this film great. Freddy's change in appearance in this film is fantastic, and even more frightening than his original incarnation.
The Howling (1981)
Praise
This werewolf movie ties with American Werewolf in London and Ginger Snaps as being the best were-beast movie ever. There were some really scary parts in this movie. Joe Dante did justice to the story by directing this movie. This is a must see for Werewolf fans.
Terror Toons (2002)
Good Cheese
This was one of the cheapest movies I have ever seen, but I liked it. Don't get me wrong it's not the best horror movie I've seen, but for the 2300 dollar budget that the movie had it was good. The little sister Candy (Lizzie) struck me as a bit odd, but once again I like odd. The villain Dr. Carnage was great with the maniacal laugh. I wish I could have given it a 7 but I just can't.
Gosford Park (2001)
Pain
This movie made my head hurt. It was the slowest and most bland movie I have ever seen. Believe me I have sat through some stink-burgers in my movie watching career but this one is the icing on the cake. Boring !!! The story goes nowhere! Just pain, thats all you get from this movie. Upper class yuppies with no taste should love it.
Jason X (2001)
Best One Yet
What more can I say, this was a great Jason movie. He is the ultimate horror movie slasher. This is the best Jason incarnation since part 7 (New Blood). Kane Hodder is great what he does. I suggest if you are even a remote fan of the series to rent this one when it comes out. There are some interesting kills and a very good change with our main title killer.
Ginger Snaps (2000)
Great Movie
This was one of the best Were-beast related movies. The fact that it centers around female characters makes it all the better. This movie, in my opinion, ranks up there with The Howling and An American Werewolf in London. The only reason I didn't give this movie a ten was the fact that they showed too much of the beast, which I wasn't that impressed with. Keeping the monster in the dark more would have helped. Otherwise this movie was great.
The Evil Dead (1981)
Praise
This was a very inspiring movie for anyone who would want to make horror movies themselves. For as low budget as it was it was still an enjoyable movie. I liked the characters and the evil "force" was even more believable and scarier because they didn't show it. They left the evil "force" anonymous until it entered a body.
Wishmaster (1997)
Pretty Good
This movie and it's direct sequel are pretty good. Andrew Divoff makes for a good villian as the Djinn or Demerest. I am glad to see it becoming a franchise with multiple sequels, even if the main character has changed.
