I honestly didn't expect to like this movie. I just thought this would be another wonderful, crazy Catherine O'Hara performance (which it was). While some of the humor is ridiculous, there are some genuinely comedic moments as one event after another seems to doom the prospect of Shawn (Colin Hanks) getting into Stanford. I even found that I felt attached to the characters (even a tiny bit Jack Black's character) as I got to know them better. The ending was sweet and satisfying. While it's not the deepest movie or the funniest, it's got a fantastic cast (Harold Ramis, Chevy Chase, and Kevin Kline cameo!) and a nice story. Or you can just watch it, like I did, to see Catherine O'Hara kill it as another crazy character.

This is honestly one of the best shows I have ever watched. Watching this family stumble through learning to live without money, without people to do their bidding, and with each other is both hysterical and heartwarming. The town of Schitt's Creek is a world where homophobia, racism, and every other ism does not exist. While you would expect the townies to be the ones needing an education, it's the ex-wealthy family who have a lot to learn from the town. The acting is superb, even the smaller roles feel authentic and have their own spot on comedic timing. Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy have impeccable on screen chemistry, as in all of their other projects. You will laugh and cry all in a twenty minute episode.

It is a movie about a kid who wants to live before he enters adulthood. It is also a story of prejudice. Catherine O'Hara steals the show as Frankie's mother with outdated, inaccurate, and fiercely held opinions. It's the story of a kid trying to figure out who is and what he wants out of life rather than following the strict rules of his family. The cast is splendid and the story (while not action packed) is a nice watch.

Simple and to the point. This short show is wonderfully acted and makes you think. Definitely worth watching.
