Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (2009)
For a fan, there will be fidgeting
By fidgeting, I mean certain things in the plot that need not be there. There is a romance, but not in Crepsley's city. Sam isn't in there. Evra is... different lets say (he has something after the Von). Des Tiny isn't old or have his watch or boots, rather a fat, bald, plain man. Steve is kept the same but is transformed way too early. This is the only reason I would take off one, it's a great movie As for a sequel idea, it's hinted by Des Tiny, Gavner, Crepsley, and Steve. There just didn't seem to be enough cliffhangers for it to be completely certain. It could go either way. Personally, I hope there will be a sequel, I think they will learn what to do better in respect to the story, which is what they really got wrong, and to the film, which I didn't have a problem with, camera-work and graphics were just fine in my opinion, from some of the critics.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
Phenomenal
The first time I went to see this film, I was with my whole family, we were about to see a different movie (I forgot what it was, possibly Bedtime Stories...), but I was completely thrown off my feet when I saw it. It was touching, funny, dramatic, told a great story, and had its share of action. The story tells of a man, who is born at around 85 +/-. He grows up in reverse, taking his first steps out of his wheelchair, going for a day downtown, and going on a tugboat, from which he departs the USA when he looks around his late 60's. While in Russia, he meets a woman who he falls in love with. He is put in the war on the tugboat. As he returns to the USA, he finds a girl he had a crush on when he was "young", who has since grown up and found a career. After many events, the girl falls in love with Benjamin and they are married. They have a child, and that is where I will stop. I don't believe I have given a spoiler, so I'll sum that up into fewer words. Benjamin is a nice character, he was raised that way. He has amazing adventures, interlaced with others' interesting, sometimes humorous, adventures. I know many people who cried during this movie, and rightfully so, this story will have you thinking about the movie for the rest of the week.
It has many memorable quotes, some being "You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You could swear, curse the fates, but when it comes to the end, you have to let go."- Capt. Mike "Benjamin, we're meant to lose the people we love. How else would we know how important they are to us?"- Mrs. Maple Among others.
I can honestly say, without a doubt, this is my favorite movie OF ITS GENRE. The genre of Benjamin Button is quite unique, being mostly a drama, but also an "old-fashioned" sort of genre, and seeing the lifestyles and backgrounds change is quite interesting and fun.
Invader ZIM (2001)
One heck of a show, one wrong network
Great show, great actors, humor, animation, everything! From the wild antics of GIR, to the plots of Zims to conquer Earth. This show was the top of the line, it still remains as my favorite show on Nick, even though I was pretty young when it was in its prime, I loved the humor then, too! But this show had dark times coming, darker than the show itself. Nickelodeon is a kid-oriented network, and when they take ratings, they take them from kids 5-11, so where do the teens fit in? The ratings would have skyrocketed had Nick taken the ratings from teenagers. Even some adults I know love it! It wasn't because Zim cursed in an episode, not because Nick found out of all the images Jhonen had hidden. Nick had just been doing their job, making shows for kids, and kids only. CN however, that's a different story. They have afternoon shows for kids, nightly shows for adults, and early-evening shows for teens (i.e. Courage the Cowardly Dog, etc.) many of which are pretty dark. This would have been the perfect network for Invader Zim to continue throughout its hilarious storyline. So all it was was a poorly chosen network... Well, its over, and the creators and actors said they wouldn't ever do it again, possibly to spite Nick. One things for sure, no other show can mimic the voice of GIR, the natural darkness of everything. I love it, if you haven't seen it, its available in many places. many places.
