Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Disappointing end to the a soulless saga
A stupid, nonsense story that makes up random plot devices as it goes along. Guaranteed to disappoint and anger both fans of the original trilogy and fans of this current trilogy. If this isn't a grisly end to the Star Wars franchise, I don't know what is.
Max Payne (2008)
Not Bad, But Never Played the Game
Truthfully, I never played the game. Maybe that's the reason why everyone is so ticked off with this movie. Personally, I compare movies to a criteria, not other movies and games. Just like the recent Indiana Jones movie; comparing that to the Last Crusade would make it a piece of crap. Overall, the lighting and camera was excellent. The acting, in general, was pretty good. The plot was good but expressed rather awkwardly. It's as if the director didn't know how to tell this story. Also, the ambiance of the movie keeps changing, which expresses why the movie never actually got really exciting all at once. And finally, the "red flashes" and the bullet time was limited, so to speak that the editors were indecisive on how they could portray this movie. Otherwise, the movie was enjoyable.
All in all, I WOULD have gave it a 6 or a 7, but since the majority of the people didn't understood the art in this movie, I gave it a more deserving grade. Seriously, if you plan to watch the movie, lighten up and enjoy the ride.
Pride and Glory (2008)
No Pride, No Glory
I don't usually write comments, but this movie was just awful. First, I never sleep during a movie, even when I'm tired. But this movie was just that boring. It had a good storyline, but expressed it ways that are unbelievably terrible. The plot jumped from place to place until the extent that it didn't make sense anymore. Some parts weren't even necessary. As such, the beginning (the random football game) had no point and the ending didn't tie all the loose ends. The lighting was dim and barely visible at times. The camera was unstable and shaky, which makes no sense in a dramatic movie such as this (does better in a movie like Quarantine). This is probably because the movie, instead of using a rail, carried it by hand in some parts. It made the unnecessary scene into longer scene, whereas the action and the "important dialogue" was cut up into short pieces. The editing and transitions could also use a lot of work too. There were scenes where a different language was used, but no subtitles were given (which is practically a middle finger in my case). Everybody swears: "fuck," "shit," "bitch," it's as if the actors had just quit smoking or it was their period. Finally, the acting was probably mediocre at best all together, even with more experienced actors like Edward Norton and Colin Farell. If you like a good movie, watch Body of Lies or something that doesn't make you say "I was expecting more," or "What the hell was that piece of crap?" Do anything, but don't watch this movie.
The Dark Knight (2008)
It sure put a smile on my face!
I've read past comments saying this was a poor movie due to it being irrelevant to the original comic storyline and the dark ambiance that this movie portrays to younger audiences. But think about it. This movie had everything! Not only was the acting of the entire cast (not only Heath Ledger)superb, but it had action (shooting and explosions), horror (just look at the Joker), romantic toils, suspense and comedic jokes here and there. The meaningful dialogue teaches the audience great moral of order and anarchy, but isn't covered up by the special effects and CGI, which were still impressive. Frankly, after seeing that movie, I don't really care for the original storyline of the comic. Nor do I care that it's somewhat long. Nor do I care that it's unsuitable for younger audiences (like me). This is the best movie since Godfather!
