The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
Released in 1974, the energy crisis runs through the film
From the beginning, the 1970s energy crisis underlies the action. Bond initially doesn't want the assignment, considering Scaramanga less important than the energy crisis. But Scaramanga assasinates a top solar scientist, so energy is the root problem after all.
At about 1:37, Scaramanga proudly descibes his private electric power plant. Solar energy powers thermoelectric generators which produce "ample" electricity. Bad guys will have ample energy even if the rest of the world does not.
