Breaking Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet (2021)
A great documentary with a major flaw
It is a very good documentary for sure. Everyone must understand that it is not just a small problem, but we are facing a global environmental crisis and we do not have 30-50 years more to start changing status quo of destroying everything around us. What was missed is the way how everyone can make an impact right away, without waiting for politicians to finally act. We need to adopt a fully plant-based diet to stop killing billions of animals each year, stop polluting rivers and oceans with cows' and pigs' manure, stop cutting forests so we could eat "less beef". We do not have time anymore for "less meat" and "flexitarian" nonsense. Our planet is dying, and we have mounting evidence that the plant-based diet is the best way how every single person can make the change. And yeah, side effect include better health, normal weight and a great feeling that you are not paying someone to keep living beings in terrible conditions with a brutal slaughter at the end of their short life so you could eat a steak for lunch.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
A beautiful story of horror and love.
There were rare moments in my life when I thought "This piece is a real purpose why television/cinema was created. To help people open their hearts and minds to something really important." And The Haunting of Bly Manor is exactly this case. I admire the work of its creators! It is so complex, so intriguing, and when you understand everything and think that there is nothing more, it offers you the most beautiful and deep ending of the story. It reminds us to appreciate every single moment with our loved ones, never talking them for granted.
Brave Blue World (2019)
A very important solution is missing.
The film is ok. The technologies shown are interesting and inspire some hope in the survival of the humanity, but the simplest and maybe the most important solution was not even mentioned. Ok, home filters of the "grey" water waste can save several thousand liters of water per month, but let's have a look at another example. The production cycle of just one liter of milk requires around a thousand liters of water; one burger patty requires several thousands liters. Just by switching to an oat or soy milk and ditching beef (and preferably all the meat) you will save enormous amounts of water, hundreds of thousands liters per year just in your household. We need to think globally. Water is used not only in our taps, but for all the products which we buy and we eat.
Kiss the Ground (2020)
It's ok
If you cut out of this movie all the nonsense with happy ranchers holding their hands and the need to breed and "humanely" kill animals to regenerate the land, then it is a pretty decent documentary about the importance of moving from conventional farming to a sustainable one.
You (2018)
Season 2!!!
I really enjoyed season 1. It was super interesting, captivating, and the storyline was just amazing. And season 2 is even better. One mind blowing plot twist after another. Very well done!
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
Why stuff like this will never work.
There is a very good book "Time and time again" by Ben Elton which shows why these "time travel" kills in the past will not solve humanity's issues. You can avoid one war by killing some people in the past, but you will not avoid other wars and conflicts. And people will never be happy. Nothing will be enough. An idea of killing people in advance because they can do something bad is a first step to totalitarianism where a small group of people will decide if your future choices are good enough to let you live.
So, the time travel ideas were good. But the political/moral message is really disturbing.
Lethal Weapon (2016)
Even better in season 3
Despite all the whining about Clayne leaving the show, the season 3 is really good. Seann William Scott created a great character with an interesting story. The quality of the episodes is really high and the stories are fun and packed with awesome action. Hopefully we will see more seasons with the same team.
The Night Comes for Us (2018)
Good old school
Just wait through the first 25 minutes with all the talks and boring stuff and you will be rewarded with 1.5 hours of nonstop action. I'm glad that I didn't stop watching in the beginning. If you liked The Raid, this movie is for you.
