Countdown (1996)
It's True!
As far as Lori Petty is concerned, this movie is proof positive that the long rumored "casting couch" in Hollywood, is not just rumor, but indeed fact. This is not be to be a slam on Ms. Petty, but, she is no where near talented enough to carry this picture. One can also fault the scriptwriters. There is no actress that could have made this a better movie, but Ms. Petty's lack of talent is obvious. On a positive note, Ms. Petty has made a career, and a lot of money, doing something that she is not very good at. At least she gained financial security while living her dream. Which brings us back to the beginning. Since she doesn't practice her craft for free, and she's not very talented at all in her chosen profession, then the only explanation must be the couch.
12 Monkeys (1995)
What A Waste!
I had been wanting to see this movie. I had high hopes. It turned out to be a total and complete waste of 129 minutes! This is another example of where the actors and actresses are too ignorant the ask the scriptwriters, "why would you write this?". Everyone seems to be confused about what's going on and what to do about it. That's because no one is smart enough to ask simple questions. Madeline Stowe, playing a psychiatrist, seems as if her lines were written by an 8th grader who thought they knew enough to write a script about someone with a Doctorate.
The casting was alright and the stars did their best, but Brad Pitt being nominated for an Academy Award for his role, shows just how weak the year was for decent movies. Another one of those that could have been decent if not for amateurish script.
Level 9 (2000)
What Could Have Been.
There is a reason that only about 9 of the 14 episodes actually aired before this show was canceled! It's too bad, because this could have been a great idea to base a show on. The writing was mediocre at best. Some of the characters were a little too ignorant to be computer geeks. For example, the character of Sosh, I can't believe that Kim Murphy didn't stop at times to ask, "Who wrote this stupid drivel?
If you've got a couple hours to kill, check out a couple episodes. There are worse shows, that's for sure. It's seems as if someone will come up with the premise for a good show, but the scriptwriters, or the directors haven't got a clue. I know that the actors and actresses can only go by the script, but a lot of the time they can't even manage to do that.
