Pontypool (2008)
Not bad.
28 June 2010
Pontypool is one of the few horror movie that used a little creativity and proves you don't need a high budget to a make horror film. The story circles around a local radio station and its crew of three people. As the day moves on they slowly start to here reports of violence happening all over the region. This includes riots, people killing each other and intervention from the Canadian Government. Soon they find themselves hiding in the station from the horror out side they are reporting. If that was not bad enough, they can't figure what's going on. Pontypool takes a very different and more effective way at trying to scare its audience. Most western horror these days seem to mainly focus on jump scares or brutal kill scenes alone. Pontypool on the other hand gives a few vague descriptions on what's actually going on out there. For most of the movie you really are just listening to a broadcast and testimonies of eye witness. This leaves the viewer having his own imagination working against him for a big chunk of the film. For me this was the most strongest for the first half of the film when we don't know what's causing the hysteria. I actually only have one real complaint which I felt the ending could have been better. I didn't hate the ending it just feels kind of weak compared to what we see earlier. I would go into more detail but that would results in some spoilers.

Overall it's a fun creepy horror movie that could be enjoyable for Halloween. I give it a few extra points for what they were able to pull off on a low budget and for an interesting experiment in horror.

Thats why I give this radio broadcast from hell an 8 out of 10.

Avatar (2009)
What so great about it?
25 May 2010
Avatar has got to be the most overrated movie of all time.

By its self its just okay but not worthy of all the praise. Yes, its fun to look at but I don't care if its in 3D or using CGI. In the end it always comes back to story and that is ware it failed. This is one of the most predictable movies I have seen on the big screen. For those of you who read a lot of books or watch older films You pretty much know this story.

I know what the Avatar Fans who will thumd down this review are thinking. They are most likely thinking "But a lot of books and movies borrow from older stories" or "There no such thing as a true original story" Well this is what I have to say to them. Yes its true a lot of the things we loved were influenced by older work but they all stood on there own. When I see those character I don't see a cardboard copy and past cliché cut out like in this. Pluse there is a fine line between influenced and flat out stealing. Avatar made no attempt to stand on its own as a Story. Instead it just follows every cliché in the book.

I also have a few questions for every who loved this movie and I really want you to think about your answer. If it was a book, meaning all you had was the story, would you love it as much? If it was made on a really low budget would you love it as much? If the SFX were really poor but everything els (story, script, actors) was the same, would you love it as much? When the fad dies down and better special effects are every were all we will have left is generic scifi movie. Nothing more and nothing less.

Yes it looks great but the story, acting and duologue all suck.

There I said it! Now Bring on the Hate!!!

Elfen Lied (2004)
A bloody tear jerker.
5 April 2010
At first glance Elfen Lied looks likes its going to be a series that sells on shock value alone. Before seeing it I had already learned that it was filled with lots blood, gore and nudity. This put an image in my head that this is going to be a mindless action SF anime series, nothing more and nothing less. That is until I watch it and a few episodes in the unexpected happens. It turns out be a really deep and well thought out story. It still had lots of blood, gore and nudity but it dealt with tough subject matters. As the story progress it deals with themes such as bigotry, regret, hate, and even childed abuse.

The main Character Lucy/Nyu is a really interesting protagonist. Her character is kind like Dr. Jackle and Mr. Hide. Frist there is Nyu who is a girl who has horns growing out of her head and suffers from brain damage. She can barley talk and has the mind set of a little kid. She's sweet, harmless and gentle. She was found washed up on a beach naked and is taken in by Kota and Yuka after taking sympathy on her. However Nyu is only the result of series blow to the her head in attempt to kill our Mr. Hide. Lucy.

Lucy is intelligent, short tempered, violent and very dangerous. She has four extra arms that come out her back that can tare people apart like paper. Now I'm aware that I just made her sound like the villain but in truth she's really a complexes character. On the one hand Lucy dose really evil things to other people but on the other we cant help but feel sorry for her. Which is impressive because some of the thing she dose makes you really want to hate her but yet you cant. She has lots of regrets and her background just make her great tragic character.

The story its self really had me hooked. Once it started to pick up I had to see what happens next and found myself in love with it. I would go into more detail but I'm afraid I will spoil to much.

I really wanted to give the series a 10 but sadly there one flaw that really hurts it for me. The last episode.

Its doesn't suck, its actually really good. The problem is it looked like the story was not over yet. I wont give it away but its clear there were plans for another season that never went through. So if your not a fan of cliff hangers the final episode might disappoint you.

Overall, Its a great series and I loved it to death but I wish we could of gotten some more closer.

I guess I have to read the Manga now.

Ponyo (2008)
Not one of Miyazaki best
4 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I know some people will thumb me down for not giving this movie a 9 or 10 but I really did feel that this was not one of Miyazaki best. That dose not mean I didn't enjoyed this film and it's safe for your kids who will probably love it. It's just that it could of been better.

The movie has very strong things going for it. For example its fun to look at. I really loved the opening scene ware we first meet Ponyo and her father in there underwater home. Every thing is bringtly colored and gives off a warm feeling to the movie. At first I thought I would not like the story because It striked me as a little mermaid ripoff but I found that it did a great job at standing on its own. Miyazaki truly is a great story teller and he rarly disappoints.

Now the main reason why I felt that this is weak conpaird to his other movies was mainly because of the human adults. They came off as really unrealistic even by children story's standards to me.

POSSIBAL SPOILERS!

For example Ponyo basically destroys the boys home town causing hundreds or maybe thousands of people to lose there homes. Yet no one but Ponyo parents seem to really care. Which is odd since through out the movie her father is betrayed as the main antagonist of the story. I felt that Ponyo never really notice how her actions affected other people and never learned her lesson. Pluse it would have been better if the adults would of reacted a little more realistic in the face of disaster. I know some miyazaki fans will point out how the adults acted in My Neighbor Totoro but that was different. I thought it was obvious the parents thought Totoro was imaginary since they never did see him. This one's a different story since by the end of it all mom and dad get the message loud and clear that Ponyo is real. So why is no one mad at her for whipping out there homes?

SPOILERS END HERE!! Now to be fair to the movie I admit I could be being a little nip picky here. The movie is still entertaining and worth watching for kids and animation fans. The voice acting is great, the story in spite of its flaws held my attention and overall I had fun with it.

If your new to Miyasaki's movies I would recommend watching some of his older films first. Spirited Away, Vally Of The Wind, Castle In The Sky, Howls Moving Castle and Princess Mononke are all good choices to start.

A real Shipwreck!
14 July 2009
This is clearly the worst animated musical I have every seen in my life. I honestly don't know ware to begin because there so much wrong with it that I can't fit it all in to one review. So keep in mind this review is just the tip of the iceberg to how bad this movie is. My first problem with this movie is the idea of trying to take the real life tragedy of Titanic and attempting to turn it in to a goofy, happy and feel good event. Thousand of innocent men, women and children drowned or freeze to death due to the fact they were not prepared for a sinking. Yet this not only dumb down those real life horrors but flat out ignores them and attempts to make things all bright and cheery with a bunch badly drawn cartoon animals that cant sing (or rap). Yes dear reader, there a rap song in this movie (a horrible one to) that comes out of no ware from a dog. One moment he saving a mouse and then he is holding a boom box's, warring a backwards cap and jerseys in a movie about Titanic! The second major problem of this movie is that there where way to many sub plots. It's not uncommon for movie to have one sub plot or possibly two but this movie (including the main story) has at least seven plots and all them do a very poor job at being tied in to gather. I'm also surprise there was no law suits against this movie. All the character here are rip off of popular American films ( mainly children film) There Cinderella, 101 Dalmatians, American Tail, Looney Toons and whole bunch of other non original characters. In spite of the fact movie it's given a lot film time it doesn't use any of it to fully devolve any of the characters. Instead it seem to be in a constant rush from jumping from one sub plot to another. The movie would of been better off deleting half these characters and throwing away all the useless sub plots which where causing it be confusing. All it did was kept characters from having a chance to be more conplete.

Rather then drawling us a whole scene they simply replay footage again and again. As a result it's really hard to tell what's going on in some scenes because it just a jumble mess of repeated clips. Even when you do know what's going on its still painful because the use of stock footage gets very repetitive, tiresome and just shows that there was no effort put into this. Do you really need to see the same ugly drawling doing the same thing 10 times in a row in a single shot? This lead to the next problem. The Animation is dull, plain and as lifeless as all the characters in this movie. The dubbing is bad, movement is choppy and it simply ugly looking. This movie is just as painful to look at as the song are painful to listen to. Lucky for us there's only 3 songs and they all stink! There's the out of place dog Rap, A Mexican salsa song and the love song that keeps being played over and over to pass as more then one song, now that's just cheap. The movie doesn't even try to fill in it's own plot holes. For Example there a Cat and Chihuahua who never do anything to begin with are one moment in there cabins with there owners and then the next moment there locked up in a cage in the storage room. Why? I don't know, the movie never explained it.

Finally there the ending that's just a big spit in the face to what really happen that night. There goofy unfunny humor as the ship sinks, the animals are saved by Dolphins and everyone given a happy ending in spite of the lost of thousands of people! There nothing redeeming about this movie at all. Its ugly, confusing, and builds it self by stealing from more successful film. Plus some might find the whole idea of this film offensive. I would not recommend this movie to anyone, not to adults or Kids because watching it only cause's people to drown in the misery it in flicks on us.

That I why I give this shipwreck a 1 out of 10.

Mr. Woodcock (2007)
A Penalty for the screen writers!
25 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I was actually looking forward to seeing this movie because I have a step father who I often feud with. So naturally I was hopping this would cheer me up and get me to laugh. But boy did this movie depress me and boy did it make me angry.

First let me go over what I did like about this film before I trash it. It had what could have been a really good and funny plot. Our lead character discovers that the evil gym teacher that tormented him in middle school is now going to marry his mother. Basically think of that teacher from high school or middle school who hated your guts. You didn't do anything he/she just hated you and made it clear. Now imagine if that teacher going to be your new stepfather/stepmother. What do you do? This sounded hysterical and in the films defenses there were a few funny moments. Sadly however those funny moments were all given away in the trailer. This would be the first problem I had with this film. All the parts that come to mind as being the highlights were already spoiled and what's left is okay but not great.

However let's talk about the story a little more. As I said before our star use to be stuck with an evil gym teacher who was out to make his life a living hell. Now he's all grown up and has used his experiences with "Mr. Woodcock" to write a self help book. This book becomes a best seller and he now teaches people how to let go of there past. Things are going well until his past come back to hunt him! Now that also could of bin funny. Watching a mans message of letting go of the past get challenge by the bad things that happen to him long ago. Sadly it does not play out well and I will explain later.

This Woodcock fellow dose not seem to regret any of the mean things he has done to him. In fact he's very mean to everyone and everything. They made him such a jerk to the point you can't bring your self to like his character. The mom on the other hand seem really nice but one cant help but wonder what is she thinking, is she that desperate? The guy makes very rude and mean spirited comments to her son, even going far to make sex comments about his mother. He treats the people in the town like dirt and everything that comes out of his moth is negativity and insults. Some time his abuse gets physical.

So I was starting to think the story was about an evil step father who the son had to save his mother from marrying. After all for some reason he and us the viewer can only see what a bad guy Woodcock really is. But no. By the end of the movie the son must learn to Respect Woodcock and his very abusive ways. So according to the movie women are better off pretending there abusive spouse is a good guy in spite of the fact he treats the world like dirt. For all women can't be happy unless they have a man, even if he is a creep. What kind of message is that to send out! Okay, dose our hero at least manage to persevere his message he has become popular selling? No, by the end he turns back on all of that and decided to take after his mom. Give into stock home syndrome and convinces himself that Woodcock is a good guy. So he finds himself apologizing to an unapologetic abusive jerk. He even declares that all the abuses was good for him. What kind of message are they trying to send out? Well did Woodcock learn any lessons, become sorry for his actions and show off that there is a nice guy in there some ware? As I already said no. They make it very clear he is not sorry for any the things he dose. In the movies Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers, our lead faced a similar problem with his father in law to be. However that worked out on screen much better. Why? Because by the end the Character who was being a jerk learned his lesson and realizes he was in the wrong. Something that never happens here. The best we get is when Woodcock said "I'm "Basically" sorry" to the mom but after the entire movie one cant help but feel more mad then amused.

To make things a little worse thing are never resolved. Like there a little romance going on between our star and a girl he knew from his old school but it never went any ware. In fact in one moment our "hero" cames off as a bit of jerk to because it seems he did not care much for her at all. So now our lead character not that likable earthier. Then the movies stops. No really, it feels like it stop in mid-moment and then the credits start. Leaving the movie feeling unfinished and made to quickly.

Over all what could of bin a good movie falls apart because things are never resolved, characters are unlikable, and sends out the message that abuse; verbal or physical is cool as long as your mom love him.

That Why Mr. Woodcock gets a 3 out of 10.

Ed Wood (1994)
A Good Movie About The Man Who Gaved Us The Wores Movies.
15 January 2009
If you don't know who Ed Wood is, he is only a true Hollywood legend! He gave us such films like Glen or Glenda, Bride of the Monster and Plan 9 From Outer Space. Such great classics and other all rightfully gave him the tittle of the world's worst dirctor of all time. He was not only the worst but also the weirdest. He even makes director Tim Burton, the master mind behind this film, look rather sane. With his bizarre cross-dressing life style and collection of odd friends one could easily mistake him as a fictional character made by Burton him self. But no! Ed Wood really did make some of the most painfully bad movies of all time and haunted movie goers through out his life.

Unlike Ed woods Films this movie is actually really good. I think it's my favorite Burton film. Once again Tim Burton cast his good friend Jonny Depp as the lead. Depp performance as Ed wood is really entertaining. In spite of the fact Wood is screwed up in the head, has no talent and is destined to fail one cant help but find him self liking this weirdo. Depp is not the only the great performance in this movie. Martin Landua dose a really great job as the has been Bela Lougsi. For those of you not familiar with Lougsi he only played Dracula and his performance has made him a horror icon to this day. However in this film we see him after his fame has ran its course. Now he is a grumpy drug addicted has been in his old age that no one will heir. No one but his number one fan Ed Wood. Bill Murry plays one of Ed's most bizarre friends. An overly depressed man who keeps moping about how much he wants to become a Women. Sara Jessica Parker also appears as Ed Woods's girl friend who he is keeping in the dark about his wardrobe. Not my favorit actress but it worked out. So we have an interesting cast of people playing a very strange cast of characters.

The first thing to be noted about the film is that it is filmed completely in black and white. In fact the film is made to look similar to what Ed Woods's movies were like. The only difference is that this one is decent. So we are not just seeing a retelling of Woods life, we are also seeing how he may have seen the world and the people in it. So thought out the movie we get a few moments that are much like the things you find in Ed's films but its place in just right. The movie is quite humors to. The things Wood would do to get his horrible film together, the dialogue and Woods "film making" had me chuckling. There is also some emotion found in the film, most notably in Woods friendship With Bela. This on screen drama earn actor Martin Landua an Oscar for his performance. To bad the real Ed Wood never got one of these. His movie probably could not earn a razy award in any age.

Tim Burton's odd Gothic style of filming some how works really well in the retelling of the life of such an odd man. Pluse he catchs that feeling of b-rated 50 scifi movies. After watching this I can safely say this is his most underrated movie. The only real thing that bothers me about this movie was when it neared the end. It's not much but I was hopping we could of seen a little more of what happen after the release of the last movie. Plus unlike everyone ells in Woods little club we were never told what happen to the Actress who stared in Bride of The Monster. I know its not much but for some reason that bothered me. These are very minor flaws and it was not enoughf to lower my ratting. In the end this is a good film about worst film maker.

That why Ed Wood gets a 10 out of 10

Cool World (1992)
Should be renamed S#$% World
8 November 2008
Roger Rabbit! I love this Movie!

Hey, wait. This is not Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Oh, this is that dreadful rip-off Cool World that try to make a quick buck off its fame. Before I go into detail about why this movie should be renamed S*&* World, let me talk about what it did right frist a little.

The one thing in Cool world that I did enjoy was what cool world it self look like. Its a cartoon city filled with bizarre twisted buildings. It was kind of like an album cover to alternative rock band. Some of the main toon characters where cool looking to. Animation ran well and they raged from being drawn to look realistic or really cartoonish. So when it comes to art cool world is filled with lots of eye candy. That's about it. The special effects are crap in this movie. It does not look convincing that the live action actors are in the same room with the toons. I know one could argue that this is an older movie and I should go easy on it for that but look at Who Framed Roger Rabbit which is even older.

The Story Revolves around Frank who gets suck in to Cool World after he experience a tragic biking accident that killed his mother back in the 40s or 50s. So he remains there and becomes the first human cope in Cool World.(A big tough cope working with cartoons? Yeah that does not sound like any other movie) Mean while back in the human world an ex-con named Jack Deeds has now earned famed by drawling Cool World comics. He receives visions of the World and translates it's into his art believing it's his creation. He fall in love with one of the Cartoon girls, the evil Holli Would who's actually bin trying to bring him into cool world. Why? So they can have Sex…………. Well, to give this movie credit it's the first (and as far as I know, only) film to explore the idea of what if real people could have sex with cartoon characters. She is however not looking for love because she likes him. It's the only way she can become human herself. The big thing standing in her way is its forbidden for Toons and Humans to do each other. Apparently it could bring some disaster that could destroy both Cool World and the Human world. Why Exactly? Never explained. So its up to Frank and his spider partner, Nails, to stop these two from getting it on. So Frank is the hero of the movie? Well for 90% of the movie we are lead to believe that Frank is our hero but at the end of the film, seeming at the last seconded Jack Deeds some how gets the part. To make thing even more interesting the ending of the film seems to make up a few new rules to Cool World so we could have a happy ending at the last moment. Poorly fit in rules might I add.

Another problem I found in this film is that we have lots of useless characters. Like this guy with suns glass who cairres evil coins. I don't know who he is or why he is here but his character could have binned deleted from the film and would have little effect on the story.

Of course maybe I miss his key moments in the movie because it's really easy to get distracted in this film and miss important information regarding the story. Through out Cool World we keep seeing crazy toons doing crazy stuff in the back round. It usually repeats it self again and again or we get just random appearances out of no ware of toons doing weird crap. It reminds me of an old music video or what I imagine goes on in the head of a stoner. I think this was place there in effort to show us how crazy cool world is. However this backs fires on the filmmakers. Take the momment were frank is talking to Holi in her apartment. Here we are supposed to be hearing important facts that advance the story by listening to the characters dialogue. Unfortunately we miss it all because as there talking we are looking at a little dog dancing in the bottom corner of the screen, a plane fly in front of the camera in a way that cant be ignored, A dog head warring sun glass floats in the room, a knife fly's threw the room, mice are playing poker and then…..and then your realize the character were talking about something that you should of bin listening to. What did they say? Something about a spike? Imagine if in Roger Rabbit when Eddie is talking to Roger in his apartment that random wired stuff kept floating over the screen that had nothing to do with the story or help the scene in anyway every two seconds! The movie quality would have gone down hill and made it harder to pay attention to the story. (And Cool world story is confusing enough as it is) If you're a stoner you might like this movie. For the rest us on the other hand I would have to say stay away. The visuals are fun at the moment but that does not save this film from its own bad story, incomplete characters, bad special effects (at least compared to Roger Rabbit) and lack of humor. If you want a movie that actually has some entrainment value in it and combines live action actors with animation then stick With Roger Rabbit.

That why I give Roger Rabbit a 10 out of 10

And Cool world a 2 out of 10

Brings Back What Use To Make The Show Great!
11 October 2008
Awwww, the Simpsons. I can't remember a time when this show was not on. More importantly though I remember when the show was funny. During those days I was a die hard Simpson fan. To tree house horror episodes were we meet Kang and Kodus, to who shot Mr. Burns, or To when Crusty the clown was framed for armed robbery. Yes our yellow skinned friends have bin threw so much and I use to love every minute of it. Tragedy came when the writers began to run out of ideas and new ones took over that could not come up with well thought out humor. The show for me went down hill big time when Family Guy (still funny but A Simpson rip off) appeared. With its bizarre random styli of humor giving its key to success I notice the Simpson started trying to mimic it a little. Truth be told it was always better off having its well thought out plots, smart jokes and not to mention a real ending instead of just simply stopping. Fear not dear readers! This movie does indeed have an ending, a good one to, but you will be sad when it does come because you won't want this movie to end! This Film has every thing that made the Simpsons show a success. It has to be of one of the funniest movies I have seen in recent years.

The story takes us back to the town of Springfield with the Simpson themed being played by Green Day. Any way Grandpa Simpson receives a vision from God for telling Springfield's horrible end. With the exception of Marge no one in the family seems to really care and thinks he's crazy. Including Grandpa himself! In the mean time Lisa has a new boy friend from Ireland who also really into preserving the environment. Together they attempt to get the town to clean up the local Lake. Bart is starting resent Homer for being really a lousy father. To his shock he starts to realize that he really likes there next door neighbor, Ned Flanders and wish Flanders was his father. Lisa unites the whole town to clean the lake perfectly and no ones allowed to dump anything in it. Homer however would break that rule. I will not say what he dumps into the lake but trust me it's gross. Anyway, the lake becomes so polluted because of Homer that it gets the attention of the United Sates Government. The Environmental Protection Agency seals the whole town in a glass dome because the place so badly polluted and no ones allowed to leave, ever. Thus Grandpa Simpson prophecy comes true! So now it's up to Homer to save the town he just doomed....Again.

The Simpson movie will have you cracking up with laugher before the opening title appears. There are hysterical one liners threw out the film and catches the humor of the show before it went down hill. Pulse it nice to have a hand drawn film for a change. I was starting to forget what that looked like since every thing has to be CGI these days. They matured the humor a little for the big screen I notice. We have one scene were Homer gives people the finger and one moment involving Bart you may all know by now but I won't give it away just in case you have not seen the film. All your favorite characters are here. Chief Wiggim, Crusty the Clown, Moe, Upoo, Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Barny, Fat Toney, Mole Man, Bumble Bee man, Comic Book Guy, Skinner, and of course Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Marge and Homer J. Simpson. We also get the voices of Green Day and Tom Hanks. Both making a brief but humors appearances.

If your a died hard Simpsons fan then you have to see this movie. If you're like me and think the show has lost what made it so special you still have see this movie. It's a real treat. If you never heard of the Simpsons. First of all were have you bin? Seconded, still go see this movie because it's funny! That why I give The Simpson Movie a 10 out 10. WoooooooWhooooo!

Nothing Special
9 October 2008
The name of the game in Ghost Game is that 11 people on a reality TV show must all live in a hunted location. The last one to stay with out running away wins. This year's location is an abandon war museum ware a horrific massacre took place during a time of conflick. What they don't know is that in this game they might be gambling with there lives.

Ghost Game has a few moments that might make you jump but over all this is just another quickly made d-rated horror movie with all the same clichés. We have a group of young people in there twenty's, we put them in a creepy location that always dark and by the end they all die off in horrible ways. What I just describe is what most d-rated horror flicks in the U.S are like. This one the same only now it's from Asia.

All the characters are not interesting. Our lead character is the girl who won last years show. She a stereo typical star for a horror movie. A young hot girl who over all is nice and innocent. At the end it's even reviled the only reason why she on the show is to get money to help her sick mom. The other charters just come off to me as stereo types you find in a class room. We have the nerds, the super hot snobby girl, and the prankster who has a crush on the snobby girl.

The story is confusing. At first I thought I could follow it until it neared the end. All 11 players are to stay in what used to be a military base ware the commanding officer ruthlessly slaughter prisoners. When facing his own down fall he shoots him self in the head. Years go by and a strange death is caught on camera showing three guards just falling dead from shock. This gets the attention of the producers' of the show Ghost Game. So our 11 heroes must play a survivor rip off but our lead finds her self stallked by a Ghost of one of the victims. This slowly leads to strange events happening all around the others. That's until it lead us to the big unspeakable horror that lead me scratching my head at a pure lost. The final Climax takes a couple times to watch in order to get what happen. Even after getting it still leads to one vary stereo typical ending for a stereo typical horror movie.

The ghost in Ghost Game are okay in some scenes but in other (especially near the end) I did not find them that scary at all. In fact I found the final ghost to be humors looking because the actor was just trying to hard to look scary.

Its not the worst horror movie I have ever seen. Near the beginning there a few creepy scenes and I will admit there were some good moments that I enjoyed but that not enough to save it.

I supposed this is good when you literally have nothing ells to do. There is some, but not much entertainment value in it. I for one however will guarantee you that once you see this movie you will forget about it in a week or even less. So I would not even recommend renting it. Its one of those movie you wait to come on TV (and if there really nothing ells good on) to watch out of pure boredom.

That why I give Ghost Game a 4 out of 10

What were they thinking!!!!!
6 October 2008
Toby, if you're reading this, please do your self a favor. I want you to go to the nearest Church, go to the alter, get down on your knees, then thank God that he forgave you for this awful film and allowed you to get the lead roles in good movies like Spider-man. If you're not a Christian then go to the nearest synagogue, moss, Hindu temple or what ever. If you an atheist then thank your own luck, but I think only God could have caused you to shake this awful movie from your reputation!

Toby plays a kid who now has to spend some time with his grumpy father and grandpa play by Mickey Rooney. The poor old man must of bin really desperate for cash if he agreed to this role. Any way, grandpa Rooney is a World War 1 vet who shot the evil Red Baron down in battle. I thought he was on our side? So Rooney take the parts of the Barons plane and makes a toy plane; that just happens to have real guns. When lighting strikes the plane the ghost of the Red Baron posses the toy, bringing it to life. So this toy plane complete with a cheap puppet polite goes on a killing spree. It up to Spiderman-oh sorry I mean Toby, to stop this evil!

To sum it up real quick, just in case you don't want read the rest; this movie sucks!!!! Stay away!!!!

Now for why. It's really hard to say who this movie is made for because it dose not seem to fit any genera.

Family Film? No way! This movie is way too violent for little kids. The Red Baron shoots who ever he comes across. He kills Toby father by electrocuting him and laughs "evilly" as he does it. This movie will scare the crap out of any one under 7. Parents stay away!

Horror movie then? Oh God no. As I said before any one under 7 will be scared. The rest us will be rolling in our seats in pain! The Red Baron is the worst villain of all time. He is nothing but a cheap puppet with one of the worst German Accents I have heard in my life. It seem like the movie is trying to be scary and yet at the same time try's to avoid being scary. The music is just too bright and happy for a horror flick. The evil one liners suck and how all the characters act in the film kill's any scary mood to this movie. Which never existed to begin with!

Then maybe it's a Comedy you ask? Nope, you see dear reader comedies are funny. This is just painful. The humor in this is much like something that a 5 year old would write. The humor, if that is humor there attempting at, is so cheesy that no one will be able to laugh! The only thing funny and scary about this movie is how did this movie get a script and production team to agree to make it! This is one those idea's that should stay in a writers head, not to be shared to anyone.....ever.

If you do come across this movie on DVD don't watch it. Here a list of things I like you to do instead.

1. Take a hammer and smash it. 2. Take a gun and shoot it. 3. Flush it down the toilet. 4. Burn it 5. Drive over it with your car. Just don't watch it. That would be a waste of your time and sanity.

That why I give this plane crash a big fat 1 out of 10.

and I hope it burns in hell.....

Death Note (2006–2007)
How to become God!!!
5 October 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start off by saying that I'm not a die hard Anime fan but this title has made me want to explore more! Since watching I have open up to the genre! I have never read the manga but now I really want to give it a try. The story follows a young high school student named Light. He is preparing to leave for college in hopes of pursing work in law; just like his father. He is deeply troubled by the mass number of crimes committed all over the world and is out raged with how Japans worst criminals seem to be able to just walk away unpunished.

During this time we also find a different world that is ruled by Death Gods. Higher beings that takes the lives of humans by arranging there deaths. You think this would be an exciting world of horror and adventure but it would seem the world of the death gods is one of boredom. All they do is gamble and joke around causing the boredom for one Death God named Ryuk to become just too intense. Then we find ourselves back in the Human world and Light has discovers a strange note books with the title Death Note. In side there are instructions written in English.

"Who ever name is written in this book will die. Write the person name why picturing his/her face to avoid killing others by the same name. Once the name is written, write the cause of death in the next 40 seconds so that it can happen. If not, they will simply die of a heart of attack. If the cause of death is written then the details must be written in the next six minutes and 40 seconds so they can happen."

Light takes the book home thinking it's a Joke. That is until he test's it out on a pair of criminals with successful results. He latter learns that the Death Note belonged to Ryuk who had thrown the book in to the human world in hopes some one would use it. All in attempt to cure his boredom. Being the new owner of the book, Light decides to take it upon him self to kill ever criminal in Japan and the world. He starts to write the names of every criminal who appear on the news or internet causing them to die of heart attacks. After so many criminals start to die people start to suspect that someone is behind it all. The public comes to know this unknown killer as Kira, meaning killer. Light/Kira actions catches the attention of the world's Greatest Detective, L. A man who's true identity is unknown to all, even those he works with to solve the case. L Promised the public that he would find, catch and put Kira to death. Thus beings the big epic chest match between two rivals. The game is to find the true identity of the other first. If L wins Light go's to jail and receives death but if Light win's, L will die.

That all I will say about the plot. I don't want to give away to much, but it's very interesting to watch this story. When you first meet Light he looks like a nice guy who has noble intentions but as the story moves forward we watch him change in to a monster who's more evil then the people he kills. In fact you may find your self routing for those who are hunting him down more then him by the end of it all. The only down side to this series I can think of is half threw the story we start to meet characters that I found to be annoying, but these are minor draw backs and do not really have a big negative impact on a very good story. I tell you more about them but I would have spoiled too much. The story is very well thought out and well written. Ever move done by Light, L and other Characters is all about trying to stay one step ahead of there opponents. You will be on the edge of your seat as Light make his way to become a New God to rule a world with out crime; even if it means killing good people who stand in his way.

If your an Anime Fan, this is a must see. If your not, it's a great place to start.

That why I give Death Note a 9 out of 10.
