DAMs: The lethal Water Bombs (2010)
Indeed Thought Provoking!!!
Saw this video on a video portal....This is the first video that has given me the complete picture of the major dam dispute in Southern India. Sohan Roy has definitely shared his fear along with the 2.5 million people who are in danger. The statistical data sure does explain the reason the dam still remains in question. The entire duration of the video sure keeps the viewer glued to the screen till the credits roll. The graphical representation needs no special words as it clarifies the obvious with no need for a second glimpse. Sohan Roy's DAM999 carries the glimpse of a dam disaster but this video carries an entire history to the date info of the same.I say this is a must watch and I rate this video a ten and nothing less!
Dam999 (2011)
This movie carries a message
Dams become curious idioms of love, in Sohan Roy's DAM999. Just like a 100 year old dam, ineffective and feeble in holding the water and its pressure, the main protagonists of the movie -Vinay and Meera, turn unsuccessful in holding back their 'forbidden' love for each other. The fates of both are parallel and predictable- disaster. The dam breaks, bringing with it massive damage to lives and harmony. So does love, once exposed and let out, especially when it is barred and forbidden. Here lies the basic analogy and philosophy that the movie admits- Dams happen to be concrete representations of love, burdened with unrestrained fluids. Vinay, at one point in the movie talks about how he and Meera are like dams themselves – taking the pressure of emotions for others. Dam999 is essentially a beautiful love story, told in the backdrop of water, akin to its precursors, including 'Titanic'.
