The Climb (2002)
Great Movie. Very well done.
Was great to watch a movie where real life issues were dealt with but where you didn't have to get dragged through a sewer to figure out who was the bad guy. Jason George does a very convincing job of playing the know it all. Ned Vaughn is very good in the roll of the conservative, play it safe type. Good music sound track. Very beautiful scenery. I would have liked to see more climbing scenes, but the action that was in the movie was very well done. It makes you wonder who is the better climber. The actors, or the camera man who has to drag a camera up ahead and make all the climbs before the actors can be filmed doing their roles. Overall the movie was very well done. It was wonderful to watch a movie where your ears weren't assaulted every five minutes with a string of profanity from one of the actors. Two Thumbs Up!
Invisible Agent (1942)
Fantasy, but a great reminder of why we defeated the Nazis.
This movie is of course fantasy. (Unless if the scientists are holding out on us.) But, it was well done. The special effects were fantastic considering when the movie was made. Even by today's special effects standards I was totally impressed with how they made Frank Raymond disappear. On the dramatic side the movie was a little slapstick at times with Frank spilling food on people without them knowing how it was happening. But, the movie was a great reminder of how evil the Nazi people were. It's hard to believe that people could be so wicked and yet that part of the movie was not fantasy. It did happen. Overall I enjoyed the movie and it all played well from beginning to end.
An Affair to Remember (1957)
Very nice movie
My wife and I watched this movie and enjoyed it very much. The coincidences in the movie were far fetched but made for a good story. The detour off the ship to visit Nikki's grandmother was important in order to develop the characters of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. Cary Grant gives a great performance and maintains a consistency in the portrayal of his character. Deborah Kerr also played her part very well. Performances by supporting roles all do their job well. The performances by the children were well done and heart warming. I especially enjoyed the way that Grant and Kerr reunite. The accident gives the movie a sad note and the ending doesn't answer all questions but overall it was very enjoyable. I give it two thumbs up.
