ITS MORBIN' TIME!!
2 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Finally bit the bullet and watched this film on Prime rather than cinema and honestly a worthless POS. The cast is decent with Jared Leto who has been good in other roles but this (and Suicide Squad) were awful, Matt Smith who is generally pretty good and Jared Harris who is also usually pretty good but this film suffers from atrocious writing that makes the story and characters unappealing. The CGI is some of the worst I've seen in some time for a mainstream film and the fact this is in the Spider-Man/Venom universe is a disappointment. The end credit scene hints at a potential sequel and I hope it never sees the light of day.

JUST WHY?!
11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes you just have to leave a franchise dead. The first couple of films were great but they got progressively worse with the odd decent one but this film is utter garbage, not even Sam L Jackson could save it.

JIMINY CRICKET, HE FLEW THE COOP!!
4 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Having only seen The Darjeeling Limited and The Grand Budapest Hotel I had limited exposure to Wes Anderson's brilliance that reminds me fondly of the Coen Brothers works, so when I saw this on Netflix decided to dive in. Absolutely loved the story and the characters from the cute relationship between Suzy and Sam to the quirky characters portrayed by Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand and Bill Murray to name a few. The film is exceptionally well paced and never exceeds it's welcome as Suzy runs off with her pen pal and scout member friend Sam which leads to Suzy's parents and the scout leaders to set up on a hunt for the pair. Would highly recommend, I look forward to watching it again.

WHAT DID I WATCH?!
4 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Always known about this film being a cult classic so gave it a go a couple of months ago and it's taken some time mulling it over. It's very artsy and I'm not too sure what David Lynch was trying to achieve apart from messing with the viewers brain. Hardly any dialogue, story or character development makes me feel really empty towards it even though it looked well made but nothing to live long in the memory or make me want to come back.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE YEAR!!
30 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
For most of my life i've been a huge fan of The Rock/Dwayne Johnson whether it being as a wrestler or an action hero and his team up with Ryan Reynolds who I love watching too I thought this was gonna be a sure fire hit. Truth be told the film is terrible, the story is massively poor and any chemistry between the leads was shot to pieces to the point if you've never seen their work you'd question why they were so popular. The second half tried to rip on Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones which was embarrassing but the plot twist was decent but doesnt save the film.

WASTE OF TIME!!
29 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Was known as a prequel to Train to Busan but like the sequel that came out recently doesnt cut the mustard. I didnt care for the story or characters at all and actually found them quite annoying. The animation was the best part about this.

UNNEEDED TRASH SEQUEL
29 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Then original film was a brilliant and clever take on the zombie sun genre but this sequel feels like a cheap cash in and never really captures what made the first film so good. Over use of action, not enough story or character development and generally just quite boring.

UNDERSIZED AND UNDERRATED!!
24 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Phase 2 draws its claws back in and introduces another character in Paul Rudd's Scott Lang a career criminal who gets a change at redemption when he steals Dr Hank Pym's Ant Man suit. Hank;s protege turned enemy Darren Cross decides he wants to use Hanks tech to sell to the highest bidder and its up to Scott to stop it. This is a really cool movie thats funny and uses the usual Marvel formula and is criminal that the movie is thought of as little as it is.

NOTING GOES OVER MY HEAD, MY REFLEXES ARE TOO FAST, I WILL CATCH IT!!
24 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First things first, this film is amazing and will never get old. Its Marvel's attempt at Star Wars but with more comedy and a team of characters that mesh so well as the team are put together in prison they bust out and lure Ronan with an old relic. The film is an important jump ahead of the future films.

MCU TURNED UP A NOTCH!!
24 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After The Avengers and the first few films of Phase 2, this film was more than needed to turn the story, characters and action up several notches. Centred around a CEO working for Hydra Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) hatched a plan to use the Winter Soldier to knock off Nick Fury and Cap so he can launch his plan to police state society by force. The Russo's did an amazing job with this andf was one of the stand outs from this phase.

THORS DARK WORLD!!!
11 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It shows how strong the MCU is when this is one of the weakest films in it and its not a bad film at all. Set a little while after the New York episode in Avengers Assemble. Thor and Jane havent seen each other in 2 years but that changes when Jane becomes exposed to the aether which is essentially one of the mystical infinity stones and Thor takes Jane back to Asgard to get her treatment and protect her from the elves of the dark world. Like Iron Man 3 I have grown to appreciate this more as time has gone on and whilst the weakest of the Thor films in general, its still great entertainment to be had here.

RIPPLE EFFECTS OF NEW YORK STARTS HERE!!
11 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After the events of the Avengers we reach Phase 2 which starts with Iron Man 3 where Tony faces a blast from his past Aldrich Killian who Tony ghosted. This film is much more about the characters than the action but the character development of Tony since the events in New York which changed him considerably. Tony has been humbled a great deal as he deals with the imprints in his brain, coupled with Ben Kingsley's brilliant Mandarin character which allows Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) to work in the shadows. This is a film that gets better each time I watch compared to the disappointment I felt when I saw it in cinemas.

A MUSICAL THAT TELLS A BROADER STORY!!
11 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Set around a 30 year old writer who dreamt that his script for a broadway show would pave the way for his career told as a musical and it was brilliant. Andrew Garfield was brilliant as Jonathan Larson who died in real ,life as one of his shows hit broadway for a successful run but this film details the trials and tribulations he went through to get there from hope to rejection and losing/pushing away those closest to him. Absolutely wonderful film that I would highly recommend to everyone.

A MINIMALIST MASTERPIECE!!
11 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The near entirity of this film takes place in 1 room as a jury must decide the fate of a young adult being tried for murder. What started out as a seemingly overwhelming verdict decision, turned into a debate that flipped the thought process of everyone in the room. The acting was superb and brilliantly written that kept me engrossed throughout. A masterpiece.

SHOULD HAVE SAID NEVER AGAIN!!
11 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Sean Connery back in an unofficial, non canon Bond film and it was definately one of the worst of the bunch. Its a remake of Thunderball but far inferior even with Connery who was still pretty good as 007.

A DECENT DALTON FILM!!
11 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I preferred this film to Dalton's previous effort, it was more of a revenge film and instead of seeing him as Bond but more of a generic action hero. Again its a well made film and the action is brilliant with some beautiful locations.

A SHIFT IN THE TONE!!
11 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Gone are the Roger Moore films which I enjoyed even if they were a bit silly and into the more serious tone that the future films would adopt. Im not a huge fan of Timothy Dalton as Bond, I never really got the feeling he belonged as Bond but the film in general was well written and was entertaining.

END OF AN ERA!!
5 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Roger Moore run was certainly fun but sort of veered away from the path Connery set and later films would continue. This finale was a decent fare not Roger's best but enjoyable nonetheless as 007 goes in hunt of the microchips from Max Zorin played wonderfully by Christopher Walken. The jokes felt tired but the action and Bonds suave was still there to be seen.

BOND IS BACK!!
27 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This penultimate Roger Moore Bond film had to run alongside another non canon one and after the previous 2 it looked like Roger had run out of steam but this film set in the height of the cold war where Bond goes after a jewel thief was a thrilling film with great action sets and Bond at his suave best.

AN IMPROVEMENT ON THE PREVIOUS ENTRY!
27 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Moonraker was very much a so-so outing but this was for me a much more enjoyable fair. From the opening scene excitement and Roger Moore seeming much more into the film. Strong villain and just flatout an entertaining Bond film. Only problem is it will be largely forgettable after a while.

NOT MY FAVOURITE BUT TONS OF HEART!!
24 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The opening half hour of this film is my favourite to be totally honest and everything that was charming was sort of lost once they shifted into space but not to the point it became a bad film. The animation as always is brilliant and Wall-E is such a cool character. Shades of 2001: A Space Oddysey in the film too which is cool.

NOLAN'S MASTERPIECE!!
24 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Considering Christopher Nolan's body of work, this is the piece of film that stands out for me. Set around Cobb and his crew that embark on a dangerous dream jump chain to plant an idea into a CEO's sons head and the dangers they would encounter. As with most Nolan stuff theres plenty of thought to debate about, the production is fantastic and the acting likewise even though this was much more about the idea than the characters.

MEDIOCRE!!
24 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Following on from the first three Roger Moore outings, this film was a massive disappointment. The comedy was off generally, the writing was meh and the action sets were uninspiring.

MY FAVOURITE MOORE BOND!!
18 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Bond comes face to face with Scaramanga an elite assassin who claims his victims with a golden gun for a million dollars a hit. Roger Moore is at his most comfortable here and opposite Christopher Lee we have an excellent addition to the Bond universe.

NOBODY DOES IT BETTER!!
18 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
From the excellent theme, the introduction of Jaws and nemises Stromberg with the help of Russian Major Amasova we had an excellent action film here, following on from his second film Roger Moore absolutely kills it. Stromberg is intent on unleashing nuclear warheads and its down to MI6 and the KGB's best agents to stop a global catastrophe. Brilliant film.
