So bad I demanded my money back
4 April 2023
This movie was so bad I demanded my money back. I had heard that this was the best thing since the matrix. It was so cringe, pointless, and nonsensical. The Matrix is a great movie from 1999 when they still made good movies like Fight Clube and American Beauty. If this is a great movie today than civilization must be near its end.

Everyone says it, but I wanted to like this movie, that is why I rented it on Amazon Prime. I watched about half and could not take it anymore and stopped the movie. I went to review the movie on Amazon and it would not let me review it since I had not watched the whole movie. Keep in mind I paid to watch it.

I called customer service. I said "let me review this movie, or, give me money back or I'm cancelling my Amazon account." I meant it. They gave me my money back.

This movie was terrible. You'll want your two hours back.

Finally, a great movie!!
25 March 2023
Really enjoyed this movie! Great story, interesting, and I really learned a lot. Has its funny moments and I definitely laughed out loud a few times. Crystal Reed is the definition of cute in this movie. There is also nothing really bad in this movie and I think you can watch it with just about anyone. Don't watch the trailer, watch this movie cold.

We can all change...
14 March 2019
That's what I like about this movie, no matter what has happened or how low you feel, you can become something better you can change and you can even find opportunity where you least expect it. If you let go of any preconceptions or judgments you'll walk away from this movie feeling good and hopeful. Yeah, Danielle was a porn star, but she was also a person. This movie deserves at least an 8.0. 6.7 IMDB rating is a crime. Watched it several times over the years.

Pretty Bad
3 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
We're in an age where everything has to be politicized. In the series the terrorists are just misunderstood family men who have been victims of injustice. Americans are sex crazed immorals without any honor. Syrian refugees are 80% women and children.

Basically all the facts are turned on their head, just the way the left likes it. If you want to watch something with sex and violence that completely distorts reality and includes every imaginable liberal trope, than this series is for you.

Tom Clancy would not approve.

Very important story the world needs to know
26 June 2018
All people should have the right to live in peace and not have their property stolen. There is a huge story here that the media does not want to tackle, but Lauren Southern bravely does. How? By actually going there and getting the story directly, something that rarely happens these days. These farmers need help and decent governments and people around the world need to step up to help them. Lauren made this documentary at great personal risk and she deserves a lot of credit for making this excellent documentary.

Great Cast and Wonderful Thoughtful Movie
22 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Major spoilers below. This is a great movie if you like a mellow thoughtful drama.

Spoilers beyond this point.

This is what I thought about the movie: William was a damaged person who could never relate to women. Women found him attractive, but all he did through his whole life was have sex with them and throw them away.

When he was in Copenhagen he really needed Effy's help and he wanted to sleep with her badly, but when he found out she was 14 the fear of getting in trouble kept him from doing it, but then something else happened. Since the legality slowed him down he really had to get to know her and he really did love her deeply and not just as a girlfriend, he loved her as a person. She was his friend and girlfriend though unconsummated.

When they were in the hotel and she wanted to have sex with him he wanted to very badly, but I think at this point it was no the law that stopped him. What stopped him was that he really cared for her and he knew she was too young and it would be bad for her so he stopped himself.

I would guess Effy's motivations were that she never really had a father so she was attracted to older men. Like is hinted at in the movie in the beginning, 'she needed someone to lean on.' William was a poor choice but as I said above her age and the law slowed him down enough so that he became that better person that she could lean on.

Perhaps in some ways it seemed erratic at the time, but I think this came to a head when he punched her mother's boyfriend. she wasn't going to let anyone hurt her no matter what the consequences.

Effy taught him a lot too, she helped him live and grow and you see this in the final scene when he observes the two seas she was talking about.

I have to say that now that this is on Netflix it is quite likely that this will reach a wide, wide audience and that Frederikke is going to be a huge star. She has the looks, the voice, beautiful accent, and the screen presence to be a major, major actress. She can do anything she wants after this movie. I believe this is her "Winter's Bone." Other than Frederikke the whole cast and the entire movie is just wonderful. watching it for the second time right now.

For those that say this is about a man taking advantage of a 14 year old girl....that is the last thing it is. It is about this girl helping this man to not just become a man, but to become a good man and she succeeds, even if it was not her intention.

I'm giving this 9 out of 10 stars.

Josh Blue: Sticky Change (2012 TV Special)

Great Comedian and seems like a good guy
18 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
As of this date, you can watch "sticky change" on Netflix. I can't believe this is the first review for this show. This guy is really funny. I have to say I have a lot more respect for people who can laugh at themselves, and Josh can do that. I was also born different and I can't stand people who are so uptight about everything.

Spoilers below: If you read what I will write below, I'll tell you a bit more about his background from what I learned about this guy, but reading this will also give away some of the jokes that are in this comedy stand- up routine.

Josh was born in Cameroon Africa and grew up in St. Paul. (hey I live in Eagan). He lives in Denver. He played on the U.S. paralympic soccer team (he has Cerebral palsy). He does a lot of performances for the troops. I have also seen that he has done performance at conferences for the disabled.

So that is short background about the guy. "Sticky Change" is really funny. Josh makes fun of himself and tells great stories about his wife and kids. Second spoiler warning: When he said "you're only half way out of the box!" I nearly had an aneurysm. (funniest part of the show for me).

Full disclosure: Don't know Josh at all, but I could not believe there was no review here and wanted to write one. Josh, thanks for the great comedy routine. I probably watched it 5 times already on Netflix.

Good Movie, Worth the money, but not Great
10 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to watching some decent sci-fi and when I was this was on at the local regal cinemas I decided to check it out. Jumped on IMDb quick and was shocked to see it had a 9.3 rating at that time...maybe it was a mistake to look at the rating, it may have pushed my expectations too high.

I was expecting something "over the top" good, and it just wasn't. The movie could have used more technology and more serious thinking and dialog. The revelation at the end I saw coming probably in the first 30 minutes of this nearly 3 hour movie.

There are some good and exciting moments, and there are definitely scenes that have the cool factor, but it is not a 9.0+ movie. I give it a solid 7. It seems a lot of people enjoyed the movie a lot more than me and that is great, but this is my opinion of it.

An old school gem
12 January 2013
This movie has the same emotional tension that you would feel when watching "Breakfast at Tiffany's." The acting is fantastic. Jennifer Lawrence continues her rise as probably the best actress of this age. She may not win the Oscar this year as Jessica Chastain also had a fantastic performance in Zero Dark Thirty and I expect her to win, but I expect Jennifer to be at the top nearly every year for the next 40 years or so.

The supporting cast is as good as you would expect from the known and unknown members.

This movie seems to get better and better as the minutes tick by right up until the end.

George and Audrey could have done no better.

Entertaining
27 July 2012
6.4 is too low for this movie. In my opinion it is easily a solid 7 if not a tad higher.

I had never heard of this movie so I watched it with no expectations on netflix.

If you like the sword and sandals genre you will love this movie.

It is very violent. The action scenes are great and very gruesome. I would imagine though that war is always gruesome and especially so in this time.

It also interesting that Neal Marshall is responsible for this. Just found out about that aspect of it. He also brought us "The Descent" which was another very good movie that surprised me. I see he also made "Dog Soldiers" which I'm going to watch in a bit.

If the review seems thin, well I don't like spoilers, and while I will talk about a movie in general I normally refuse to give away any movie details.

The almost perfect Sci-Fi Movie
26 July 2012
It is the perfect Sci-Fi movie because.....

This movie has great special effects.

The story is great.

It is a great mystery.

It has only one minor Spielbergesque weakness: That is when the guy is flying in the apartment and the flames from his jet pack cook the burgers. That was pretty lame and made me roll my eyes a bit, but other than that minor weakness it is great.

I think many people who don't normally like sci-fi will still like this movie. The story is good and the sci-fi is not intrusive and only used to further the story.

Mostly unknown piece of history in the west
14 July 2012
Totally enjoyed this movie and it was a piece of history I did not know about. If you like the movie and want to know more I would highly recommend that you read the book. The names are changed in the movie.

I'm reading the book now and I'm about 80% done.

If you remember the events with Reagan and Gorbachev and the discussion around SDI, this movie and book will fill in some blanks as to why the conversation and decisions were possible on both sides.

This is the story of a man who deperately wanted to be important and was determined to make his impact on the world in one way or another.

This is my 10th line of text (kind of a dumb IMDb rule).

Great Movie, huge surprise
1 May 2012
I really like animals, but I'm not much into animal movies. I expected more of a kid's movie and I did not think this would be that good.

Boy was I wrong. This is a fantastic movie. The dog is the star but there are a lot of other good characters as well.

I'm from an iron mining town so this also made the movie more interesting for me.

This movie is based on true stories about a real dog in Australia in the 70s. I found this movie inspirational, funny, heartwarming, and sad in parts. I think almost anyone would really like this movie and they are crazy if they don't release this DVD in the U.S. It will sell like crazy here.

13 years later, still the best movie ever made
28 April 2012
I have watched this movie more than a dozen times over the years. I watched it the first time in the theater. I stumbled out amazed and in awe of this incredible movie.

The acting is perfect and it is a crime no Oscars were handed out to these actors. The movie has many messages, is philosophic, and yes, over the top as well.

The people who only saw the violence, and nothing else, have no clue about this movie and missed the whole point.

1999 was one awesome year for movies with both Fight Club and the Original Matrix movie in one year.

Excellent Action and Fight Scenes
28 April 2012
If you have watched the Bourne Identity you have seen some of the worst fight scenes ever. Missing frames and shaking cameras don't make for great fight scenes.

This movie just had excellent fight scenes that depended on the knowledge and abilities of an great, real life fighter and man does it show.

It is puzzling that this only has a 6.1 because there is also a cerebral element to this film, you have to watch closely to know what is going on.

Maybe there is why it is rated so low, most out there like quick action, but poor fight scenes and dumbed down fluff.

This is a solid 7 of 10 and I'm looking forward to the next movie from Miss Carano.
