great movie and love the 1945-1947 time setting
30 November 2023
Just saw this at a theater in Missouri. Great movie! Was not expecting the human drama to be so good. You actually care about the characters and root for them as they tackle their own personal issues...and the setting being in 1945-47 was a very good idea too. Some nice surprises toward the end of the movie with these people and things becomes very emotional. Yup, it's a new kind of monster movie. When Godzilla finally appears in Toyko...watch out...it's terrifying. Awesome special effects and menacing sounds. Your put right in the middle of the "battlefield" as he rips this city to shreds. Could have used some more of that...that's why I give it a 9 instead of a 10.

movie was good, but left me with a craving
27 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So I enjoyed the movie. I'm glad Mija got to save the pig/pet Okja. But, I found myself craving more of something by the end of the movie...oh yeah, it's PORK CHOPS! I love pork chops, bacon, and ham. This movie made me crave those things even more. YUMMY!! I grew up on a pig farm, so we cared for hogs and yes butchered them too. Shake n Bake pork chops were my all-time favorite. But also slow cooked in a crock-pot with cream of mushroom soup..mmmmm gooood! Also, my favorite pizza is ham/candian bacon. I love BLT's too. So Pigs are wonderful. We should all go out and support the pork industry today.

Much better the second time
1 July 2022
The first time I watched this film, I didn't like it. Many plot themes introduced were not explained by the end of the film.

Now, after seeing the next film, JW: Dominon, I noticed some plots in that filmed that looked familiar...so I decided to rewatch JW: Fallen Kingdom again. Wow, now it all makes sense! No wonder I didn't like this movie the first time. Some plots were not explained in the JW: Fallen Kingdom film because they didn't want to give away some of those further developed plots for the next film. The two films are that dependent upon each other. Ok, I"m good with film now :)

Better the second time around
1 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Several years ago I watched this film and was not impressed, mainly because it didn't follow the original very well, and I didn't like the idea of nanobot technology destroying everything. However, I decided to give it another chance (now several years later), and I was ok with this film for it's new approach to the classic film.

First of all, I was expecting the worst of J. Smith's performance after reading these reviews right before watching the film...but He was NOT that bad. I work in a public school, so trust me, there is much worst spoiled little brats out there. Plus, I believe the director had him be that bad so Klaatu could see that if he (the boy) could change by the end of the film for the better, perhaps he could too. Mankind is a complicated kind of alien in the cosmos...and Klaatu finally sees a touching moment between two of the main human characters to help him see this.

So, the film works great if you don't think about it trying to be the awesome original classic. Instead, It's a much different story in a new/good king of a way.

In addition, the hundreds of Orbs transporting species to another planet to save them before destruction of the Earth was a unique concept. The old man/alien stationed on Earth for 78 years who told his side of the story about mankind to Klaatu was unique too.

So come on, give it another try all you "nay-sayers"...I'm glad I did.

Navy's version of Pro-Wrestling, ugh
24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Egotistical Characters that were spoiled Brats with attitudes and believed they were better than everyone. I couldn't stand them. The only one who was half-way decent, "Goose", died. I could care less if the rest of these jerks died in a plane crash or not. The Only thing good I can say for this film was that it had a great soundtrack...that's it.

Potentially great, but ONE thing ruined it...
26 March 2022
As a Godzilla fan, I have all the movies and rotate watching all of them from time to time. This movie has a great monster named Battra! However, this film is ruined by one thing: The idea of two 6-inch twin fairies who talk with a giant silly larvae/butterfly named Mothra, and they have magic powers to appear/disappear at will...STUPID!!!

Ghidrah is great, but the rest of the film...
26 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As a Godzilla fan, I have all the movies and rotate watching all of them from time to time. This movie has great destruction scenes with great monster named Ghidorah tearing up the city, But is has two big flaws: #1. Godzilla can't defeat a goofy looking bird called Rodan? This battle is super silly as they "play tennis" with rocks...good grief. Also, his atomic breath has no impact what-so-ever. So much for "King of the Monsters". #2. The idea of two 6-inch twin fairies who talk with a baby larvae monster named Mothra, and they have magic powers to appear/disappear at will...STUPID!!!

fantasy, not science fiction
26 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As a Godzilla fan, I have all the movies and rotate watching all of them from time to time.

This may be the most overrated Godzilla movie of all time. Godzilla wakes up from a long sleep of being buried under a sandy beach...ugh, what, why? Then, Godzilla seems to be intoxicated as he stumbles all over the place. He gets his butt handed to him by a giant butterfly (lame), but even worse, in the end he gets his butt kicked by two baby larvae...good grief. I thought he was the "King of the Monsters"? Embarrassing. Finally, if that's not bad enough, the biggest joke in this movie is the idea of two 6-inch twin fairies who talk with the giant butterfly and have magic powers to appear/disappear at will...STUPID!!!

Tied with the Original as the Best Terminator film!
5 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is tied with the original as the Best Terminator movies! Pure action from beginning to end. The Soundtrack by Elfman delivers too. Two badass characters (John Connor & the mysterious Marcus Wright) lead this movie together superbly. Although they are different, they must work together to defeat a common enemy. Enjoyed the slow reveal of Wright's mysterious character and backstory. I love the fact that there are NO liquid Terminators in this movie (a ludicrous concept). I really enjoyed Blair William's role as a strong, kick-ass character too. Arnold's surprise end appearance as a prototype T-800 Terminator was awesome. Many plots/storylines talked about in the first films are now fully realized or further explained. The necessary & sad fate for Marcus Wright was clever. Lots of different types of terminators / droids / vehicles were so cool. I really don't understand how anyone could give this film a low rating.
