Doomsday Mom (2021)
Disturbing
The movie was good - the acting more than decent for much of the cast but wow - did Lauren Lee play her part well! She truly came off as "way out there" and believing everything that she was told about her husband and children going "dark". Well played but disturbing that it's a true story.
I am a bit confused about Kay's character. Is she Charles sister or parent? In the beginning, during the interviews, she said "when my brother Charles met Lori".... but JJ called them Mamaw & Papaw (which I believe is a term for grandparents) and then when they reported the children missing, the news reports say "their grandparents are looking for the publics help in finding them". Just a hiccup in the script I guess but overall a good movie that left me shaking my head, wondering how anyone could do that to their loved ones. But I know it happens, all too often.
FBI: Most Wanted (2019)
Spin Off?
When I watched the first episode of FBI, I thought 'meh' - it didn't really get my interest or attention. But with any new show, I give it a few episodes to either make or break my "must watch" list. It made it after the second episode and each week, I look forward to it. This episode was reminiscent of the pilot episode - not enough for me. As soon as I saw the guest credits, I knew it had to be a spin-off set up, too many big names for it to be a 'one of' episode. Granted Peter Facinelli & Matthew Lillard won't (probably) become regulars but Alana & Julian certainly will. I'll give the spin-off an episode or two before I make my decision but I'd rather see Maggie & OA and their team catch the bad guys. I appreciate Dick Wolf and all the shows that he's delivered, but sometimes, spinning off a successful show can lose interest for the original. Especially if they cross over often....
Modern Family: Torn Between Two Lovers (2018)
Where did Cal come from?
Just watched this episode. I didn't think I'd missed any of them yet somehow, Cam & Mitchell have a son named Cal? When did that happen? They keep bringing Dylan back so my guess is that Hayley will end up with him, no matter what and that's ok. He's like the modern day Phil, geeky but lovable. I find it strange though, that C & M have another child when I can't recall them adopting him or having seen him in any prior episodes. Poor continuity on the writers part.
9-1-1: 7.1 (2018)
Spoiler Alert...
This show has lost my interest. As much as I like Peter Krause and Angela Bassett, I'm not believing their relationship. And no, it has nothing to do with race, it has to do with their lack of chemistry or passion towards each other. Maybe that will change as we see their relationship progress. When the fella fell out the window of the hotel and landed on the ground, I was surprised. Didn't the FD say they were going to put an air bag underneath "just in case"? If so, where was it? I sure didn't see it anywhere near where he landed. Last season had some unbelievable storylines - like Buck taking the fire truck out when he wanted to make a booty call. How is that even possible? But they got around that storyline by giving him a stable relationship - that one was more believable than B & A's. I'll give it another couple of episodes and see if my opinion changes. I like to give new shows a decent chance....
Hard to Kill (2018)
Spell his name right....
I haven't seen this show yet, it hasn't aired in my area. But I've seen the commercial for it countless times. I find it funny/strange/baffling that when they show his name on the screen, they show it as Tim Kenndy (not Kennedy as it seems to be). You'd think someone would have proofed the commercial prior to airing it. Either way, thank you Tim KennEdy for your service!
Gone: Pilot (2017)
Not sure about this show yet...
Watched the Pilot episode but when I look at IMDB, the show's been on since late 2017?!? If so, why is the pilot aired in the Fall of 2018? A bit confusing but maybe it'll be addressed and clarified in future episodes. I'm not sure how a kidnap victim (Kick as a young girl) becomes a member of the Field Team on a task force to find missing people. I can certainly understand her ability to understand the mind of a predator and her insight would be valuable to the team, but to actually go out into the field? She isn't law enforcement so her use would be more set to being in the command unit passing along insight. Just my opinion. Why isn't Frank out in the field anymore (Chris Noth's character)? Based on this episode, it doesn't hold my interest and I love my crime shows! But to give it (and any new show) a decent chance, I'll watch a couple more episodes before deciding whether it's worth my time or not. So far, it isn't....
This Is Us: Super Bowl Sunday (2018)
Possible SPOILER ALERT
This show is amazing! I fell in love with it from episode one and can't wait, each week for it to air. Tonight's episode (Superbowl) had me in tears within minutes! MINUTES!!! Granted, I recently had a personal loss so my feelings and emotions are a bit rawer than normal but still..... His love for his family - her love for him - her reaction to the news - everything I can relate to. My husband had a heart attack (almost) 6 years ago and her reaction, absolutely accurate. My hubby survived (it was a 'minor' attack') but Jack's being catastrophic, that just makes me go back in time and relive what if that had been us? How strong she had to be for her kids? When mom was diagnosed w/cancer, before she told me what was wrong, she asked me to be strong and I promised her I would be. And I was - for the 3 months that she survived after but hearing the words 'be strong' just brought back memories and feelings. The show hits on real life, whether you've experienced the issues before or may in the future, it's real. I hope this show goes on for a long time because it's better than a lot of the others shows on TV....
Saving Hope: Hope Never Dies (2017)
Spoiler Alert....
I thought it was a decent enough ending. Too many shows don't give a finale of any sort but this one did. What I don't understand is when Charlie is in his 'future' and meets his daughter - that was kind of a sweet moment - but the ending when Alex meets up with Charlie didn't make sense. Alex tells Charlie that it's been 50 years but when Charlotte meets Luke at the hospital, she tells him that 'it won't be long'. Neither child looks close to 50 - not even 40 to be honest. So how is Alex on her death bed, Luke is about to get married and neither are close to 50? It would have been more likely if it had been 35 years - Luke would be close to 40 and Charlotte about 35. Sad to see this show end, I did like it.
