Better than twilight.
2 November 2011
i thought it was anyway, because twilight spends too much time brainwashing and imbuing youth with crazy ideas. This is the way werewolf films should be done, concentrating on the werewolf stuff & not using it as an excuse to turn it into a romeo and juliet rip-off. anyone agree on the whole twilight thing? good film, good mix of humour and horror. i found brigette very annoying at first, but then she grew on me as the film goes on. good Friday night film!!! cant think of anything else to say to make this ten lines long, so i'll mention the giant weed farm in that kids greenhouse. wish i had one of those. " Wicked, smoke us up!"

James van der beek was excellent!!!
2 November 2011
A lot of the reviews are moderately negative. I would have to agree to some extent with them. eg - it may be a run of the mill kidnap film. But for me James van der beek made this film very watchable indeed. I've grown up in the generation of Dawson's creek, so that was all i've really seen him in. Except from another good turn in The Rules Of Attraction. His performance in this was outstanding. What i consider a fairly realistic interpretation of a sociopath/kidnapper. But how do i know whats realistic for that character? LOL. Give this film a watch, it may have been done before, but van der beek makes the difference between bad and good in my opinion. 8/10.

The best cycle film for me.
2 November 2011
As a few other reviews have stated, this is a different kind of costner. An earlier, less-famous costner. He was very good in this, i didn't see the end coming either. The fact that there isn't many well known faces in this film is what makes it so watchable, because you have no pre-conceived biases due to not knowing any of the actors. You just concentrate on the storyline & what they're doing, instead of thinking about all the other stuff they've been in. The music was brilliant as well. Some f*cking breathtaking cinematography on the mountain race scenes. A simple film, executed well and with a satisfying ending. Also took me a while to realise his teacher was the guard from "lock up" & the owner off McDowells restaurant from " Coming To America" LOL.

This is just plain fun for me. it is funny, serious & sometimes violent. the perfect afternoon show to lose yourself for an hour. i never got to see lee majors in the 6million dollar man. so this is my first real experience with him (apart from a few film roles). you can never take this series to seriously, its just so entertaining. E.G - just watched an episode where colt,Jodie & Howie, along with some stunt men buddies, break into devils island Mexico to rescue an old flame of colts. colt and his stunt men friends jump out the back of a helicopter on motorbikes!!LOL Jodie throws fake bombs and smoke grenades out of a moving helicopter LMAO!!! and Howie punches his way through the Mexican soldiers. Man its so implausible but thats what makes it soo entertaining. get some friends, some joints (or beers) & settle in for some laughs thrills and spills!!!!!!!!! hell yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Rock & Chips (2010–2011)
Brilliant Pilot!!!!
24 January 2010
This prog was hyped up, big time, in the uk & going into it i thought i was going to be disappointed by having hopes set too high on the utter brilliance of "only fools." For the first ten minutes i could not get out of the mindset of only fools and wanted to see some of the gags and jokes we've come to know the trotters for over the years. However, after settling into the story i found myself intrigued by the trotters begginings & pleasantly surprised. "Rock & chips" has a far more serious mood too it than only fools did, with no laughter track and subtle jokes and some well-placed gags. The mix of humour and drama is excellent! I think this is where it will excel and grow substantially,as it lets us see what life was really like for the trotters in 60's London. I say give it a watch even if u haven't seen only fools, as it can work both ways with prequels and sequels. Top-notch bbc again!!!

Goodfellas (1990)

Scorsese's finest mafia related hour.
8 August 2009
this is easily martin Scorsese's best mafia movie. i don't care if no-one agrees with me on this one. also the soundtrack is stunning, apart from scarface i think the best gangster soundtrack ever. the scene where sunshine of your love by cream is playing is just one of the top 10 DE niro moments(with 1 being taxi driver mirror monologue!!). and the other scene with Eric Clapton's Layla part 2 is brilliant. it just makes it so authentic!!!. exaclty what Scorsese is the master of.

"Hostile & Intollerant, Thats borderline criminal!!"

Warning: Spoilers
im sure you've heard this many a time before, but hughes always was the master of laughter and emotion all at once. especially his endings. this movie is no different. in my opinion its one of candys best roles and you really feel like you wna meet Del in real life. the warmth and heart that candy brings to this role is legendary!!Im stil not decided on whether or not this or buck is his best performance, but hey, they're both good. anyways.... as I've said many times b4- a truelky gr8 movie has a simple storyline. In this case a moody business man making his way home during the holidays(thanksgiving) meeting en-route a colourful character who changes the trip completely. thats where this films strengths lie - the candy and martin dialogue scenes, purely because there's so much electricity coming off these two its just impossible not to be hung on there every word. I don't know about any of these 2 actors off-screen antics. but im sure they were very good friends. and you can really see that on screen. all in all, without revealing too much of the plot. if you've never seen this movie before. go into it paying lots of attention, but not too seriously. And i guarantee the ending will have you crying or wanting to cry in a way that john hughes perfected: drama through to laughter through to adventure and straight into heartfelt emotion and possibly tears.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE!! stunningly authentic!!

Warning: Spoilers
many people nowadays leave negative comments about movies because of there lack of realism. but i think that in itself is hypocritical. a movie is supposed to have some sense of realism yes, but its a movie. we are supposed to let our minds wander for 2hours or so and believe what we are seeing. anyway - One of the best things about this movie is the second opening shot(not kings narration). the way the panning shots of H boulevard show all the public going about there daily business and living life on a normal day is excellent.letting us see cast member,by cast member hidden away as if they are just normal average people. something rarely seen in movies. I'm not gonna elaborate too much on the whole plot. but for me, i was at a real low point in my life when i first watched this movie. i really liked king and the way he cared for all the kids. which is what makes the ending the saddest in history. please empathise with me on the fact that if your going through a bad time in life a movie like this can sometimes be that lift you want!! my favourite movie.

Warning: Spoilers
being a big fan of DE niros work i went into this one biased. but was absolutely surprised as hell by the ending.people who aren't die-hard DE niro fans wont be disappointed either. without going into this movie too much, chazz palminteris performance was amazing. and the scene where he locks himself in the bar with the hells angles was my favourite. seeing all those huge guys there with one small mafia-don was so atmospheric. and of course the inevitable beating was done superbly. not too much blood. but a lot of hitting.LoL. and thats the best thing about this movie. you never quite see it %100 percent seriously until the final scene( which i wont divulge) containg a certain cameo from one of DE niros closests friends. the main theme in this movie is that for every cent of money that is earned....there is sometimes a hard and uncompromising lesson to be learned. i gave it a nine because i thought that it lost 1 point in the lack of DE niro scenes (not that much of a lack tho). but hey, thats just me. a truly die-hard deniro fan. to the death.

nightwatch - watch at night !!

Warning: Spoilers
this is a fine piece of suspense-horror movie making. nick nolte was superb as the deranged necrophiliac killer.Ewan McGregor was good but his accent was terrible, as the law student. josh brolin turning in a good performance as his wise-cracking friend. as always Patricia arquette mesmerising us on screen with her good-looks and soft-tinged voice. maybe these aren't all Oscar-winning performances. but this movie is one of the few able to pull of a momentum that speeds up all the way through right to the end when it gives us the feeling of stopping still and confronting the evil after one hell of a thrill ride. let your hair down, grab a cushion or a cup of tea, & settle into one and a half hours of nail-biting(sometimes funny) suspense-filled horror. also brad dourif and john.c.Reilly turn in sum good acting to. as they always do of course.

True Romance (1993)

most mens dream women lies within Patricia
14 January 2009
For me this movie has to be my all-time favourite, until (if-ever) i see a better one with a better story and better actors(not-likely). Christian slater has always been,in my opinion, one of the finest young stars to have emerged when this film was first released. His James-dean style image adds a certain depth of character to his acting in this and many of his movies. Patricia arquette plays the role of Clarence's (slaters) girlfriend so well, that i stand here today and challenge any-man to tell me that you don't remotely want to love or get to know her in at least a small way. The way Alabama (arquette) genuinely falls for Clarence for me was one of the many fine-points about this excellent script. Coupled with the fact that there love for each other bonds almost instantly & Clarence's jackanapeses makes Alabama his perfect life-partner, because they are chalk & cheese plus she tames her Clarence!!. Both these factors make the scene - where James Gandolfini subjects her to the beating to obtain information, genuinely heartfelt for the viewer. Every thread inside me wanted to put gandolfini down, and have Alabama run back into Clarence's hands. Because there love for each other was just meant to be. Yes this film has a-lot of action & violence in it, but this just makes Quentin Tarantino's predominant love-story a-lot more genuine. Adding tony-Scott's direction makes this one movie you will never forget...... Because it really was TRUE ROMANCE.
