Dune (2021)
Lasers, force fields, interstellar travel and hand to hand combat with swords?
Doesn't make sense. They show lasers that can cut through a hillside, spacecraft capable of interstellar travel and force fields to protect cities and a person's body, yet the infantry fight with swords and knives. Say, what? This movie was like pairing Star Wars technology with people in the era of King Arthur and the Round Table. Come to think of it, this movie does have a lot of similarities with Star Wars. Emperors, Barons, royalty etc. I was waiting to see if some kind of "force" thing was going to happen with the "voice."
The eye candy was okay, but it looked like they tried to pinch pennies. Seeing actors associated with other movies like, "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Spiderman Far From Home" doesn't help either. Finally, this movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes and a lot is really, really monotonous.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Social Engineering Garbage
LGBT, mixed race, mixed specie, Luciferian crap. If I wanted to brainwash children that LGBT was normal and that most males were wimps or neanderthals then this series would fit the bill. So many attempts at social engineering is sickening. It must be true that sociopaths and sex perverts control the entertainment industry.
Hardcore Pawn (2009)
Operating In Rough Neighborhoods
I'm of Asian descent. My uncle had the only supermarket in Watts, L.A. He had surveillance cameras in every aisle. His family lived in a house right in the middle of Watts. I would go visit him every once in a while and it would be commonplace to hear gunshot fire almost every night. I'd imagine American Jewelery and Loan is in a similar position. As far as I know the people in Watts were thankful to my uncle because it was one of the few places to go to cash their welfare checks and buy food. Hardcore Pawn reminds me of my time spent in Watts with my uncle and cousins. The irate customers on HP are real and hats off to Les Gold and family to be able to deal with it day in and day out. Is the show completely staged? I don't think so. You won't see much interesting merchandise but you'll see a lot of interesting people to people interaction. I only wish the show wouldn't edit the sound so much. More raw realism please.
Encounters at the End of the World (2007)
Don't Look for Science
For the life of me I couldn't figure out what the main idea of the documentary was. First it was very, very shallow in its science and equally shallow in presenting and introducing the people who live and work in Antarctica. As others have mentioned, this film is disjointed and haphazard. I suspect that this production was made with some serious time constraints on the part of Mr. Herzog. He seems to be perceived as more of a nuisance by some of the personnel he has on film. This is probably due to the ambivalent like questions he asks. Asking questions to only provoke a response instead of from a passion of scientific curiosity or genuine interest in the personal lives of the people there will get you bad camera reaction. I felt like the people were only "cannon fodder" for his camera. One final criticism is that I found the cinematography only mildly interesting. I don't think IMAX would have helped out either.
