A Very Married Christmas (2004)
Another movie that Joe Mantenga f'ed up.
How is it that Joe Mantenga keeps getting casts in shows or movies when he is such a horrible actor, brings nothing to the parts he has played and is at best remembered for playing a thug in a Godfather movie and he sucked at that too.
His voice is like broken glass so I don't get how or why he keeps getting cast.
BOO, BOO, BOO.
DuckTales (2017)
3.22 gets a 5 rating. The final episode got into some kind of werid thing. Didn't like it as the series finale
I remember so many DuckTales reboots and this one is by far my favorite. I loved the voice actors, David Tennant, a real Scotsman voicing the character was great. The boys had great people voicing them and everyone else was excellent and it has made this very enjoyable. Every voice actor was not only great, but they meshed and were perfect together and turned it into something special mostly due to the diversity of the boys and other characters that made them more interesting.
But, the final episode "The Last Adventure" was a bit creepy. I mean, what was Disney thinking? Webby has been such a good character going from an overprotected and isolated kid with no friends to someone who gets exposed to kids her own age and over time forming real and lasting friendships not only with the boys but with other girls like Lena and Violet and the love between all of the kids was very heartwarming. I thought they really focused on the power of true friendship by helping each other overcome things while the adults stood by. I really like that they had more of Scrooge's family from his parents and sister to other nephews and I felt that they were really going in a good direction. Then Della was included though I wished they would have mentioned who the boys father was and thought they would in future episodes until Disney killed it after season 3 out of greed more than any practical reason.
Mrs. Beakley was a great addition as Webby's grandmother, Launchpad, Fenton and Gandra, Gearloose, the three Caballeros AND Daisy Duck because they brought back some characters and modernized them. Even the villains were good, funny at times and I really enjoyed that.
Then we get to the series finale which came from out of nowhere and it was weird and a little creepy. Of all the things they could have done, they did this.
It was not all bad, however, anyone who has ever watched older and even more modern reboots before this knows that April, May and June are Daisy's nieces who would be on The Three Caballeros but I'm not sure if they interacted with the boys. I thought they would bring them back in future episodes in season 4 but there was not to be a season 4 so there would not have been time to introduce them and give them a story. They could have done other things such as making them Daisy's nieces but they've gone missing, FOWL has them and are using them against Donald and Daisy as bait for the Duck family, or McDuck.
But to clone Scrooge, which they never explain how and when this happened, only that Beakley took her and raised her. What? There was this old duck scientist who breaks the news and may have been the one to do it. I don't quite get this and to top it off they make her Scrooge's daughter? Really? What, did they roofy him, give him a powerful electric shock him to get his sperm cells and then impregnated three eggs or whatever and that was that? That is just too creepy for me and was just bizarre.
Maybe I'm alone in this, but I do not think the finale was very good because it seemed as if they were looking for anything to fill the gap with some elaborate, half-cocked, Friedman (AKA Benioff) and Weiss kind of stuff. In fact, I would not be surprised if they did write and direct it with this "subverting expectations.
The Necromancer (2018)
So much material and potential for an original story about so many things wasted
I'm not sure if this was one of those Indie thing because usually I like to watch them because in spite of budgets and new actors you can find a pretty good, unique story about all sorts of things. However, a war period piece about the French and English wars, being near Germany (which in a way I'm not sure if factual) and entering the Black Forest, well it seemed as if the writers, etc missed a golden opportunity about tales, legends and the early reputation of the Black Forest was such a wasted opportunity for some "blow you mind" type of stuff and those things can more often than not lead to some good story telling.
The beginning battle scene was not very realistic but that can be forgiven as some projects do not have the budget for great battle scenes and I can get that weary soldiers being tired of the horrors of war and wanting to leave and somehow come to the Black Forest. Okay, that could be interesting given how isolated that area is and still is to some degree. I thought maybe a "ritual" type of movie about creatures that inhabit that area in a story book fashion and the effect it could have on this group of men as they travel through it, being confronted with their past, with things they feel guilty about or bad things they have done and having to face those things and either resolving them or falling victim to them in the way of the punishment fitting the crime/sin/bad thing they did where some live and some die by their own behavior. That sounds interesting and the beginning of their travel into it seemed rather good. It would be interesting to have a horror/war drama/mystery type of film with mythological creatures that were rumored (usually from outsiders) to allegedly be there. If anyone has seen them tv series "Grimm" would understand a bit.
But then it fell flat. Sure, there were those who were confronted with the things they did and the people they hurt and were punished in ways that for most didn't make to much sense.
Then we meet the Necromancer and it is anti climatic mostly because the backstory flopped for the most part and it could have been something rather interesting and wasn't. There was mention of the Brother's Grimm but that was practically a side note and nothing came of it.
The characters and movie fell short of something that could have been unique and satisfying for the audience because one thing I think people like in horror films is a little bit of mystery as to WHY things are happening and to have some sort of decent explanation.
Instead there were these elves, half elves, demons, whatever running around and appearing for some people and not for others. That seemed like something they would have expanded on a bit.
As far as the acting and actors, I only criticize them if there was absolutely no effort or if they sound as if this is the first time they've read their lines. There was a descent enough attempt by the actors to tell the story and some were quite good and that is why I am giving this a 4 out of 10.
I really wish the writer and director would have put more thought behind this story. Sometimes having the audience come to their own conclusion works very well but it didn't in this one. The audience has to have something to work with for this to happen. It had a lot of potential and fell very short and that's sad because this could have been a very good story or a descent one.
Brahms: The Boy II (2020)
Actually a very good movie, dont understand the low rating, would recommend it.
Creepy dolls always make for good horror if done right and I think this one was a very good following of the 2016 movie. It was not a "typical" sequel and really could be a stand alone film and maybe it would have been better received if it had been.
Katie Holmes give a solid performance as does Ralph Ineson who give it a very authentic vibe as both an Englishman and what I would call a tragic character.
.
It references the first movie without overdoing it in a way that makes it mysterious and something to be solved. The ending of the 2016 movie is not only explained but also has a twist that I don't think most saw coming. A good performance by Owain Yeoman as a caring and loving husband and father. Christopher Convery plays the part of the young boy Jude and makes it believable which is not always easy for a child in a horror/thriller movie.
Sequels are always hard to pull off without it becoming a clique so I was surprised that it didn't follow the typical sequel movie. While it may have had some over dramatic touches it was not done so often that you get bored with the tension building.
It does suffer some of modern day horror/thrillers and it is that of the "loud noise jump scare" which is used too much in modern horror and there was some of that in here. But, I don't think it was overly done IMO and someone else may think it is because it is hard to tell or know how many are too many and I did not think it took away from the story.
I really like the history or mythology that is explained in it. I thought it made for a more interesting movie. There was at least one scene I would have done differently because the scene can be seen as too coincidental on purpose and I would have had it come about in a more believable way.
All in all, it was a solid movie that told a story. As for the ending, that is for discussions on YouTube and other places. I would recommend it.
Camping (2018)
The actors were the ONLY saving grace
I thought this would be a lighthearted drama/comedy about a group of friends getting together that would be funny and enlightening. But instead we got Jennifer Garner, who I really do like, being some elitist, unstable, neurotic, major control freak that is in denial and is incapable of human communication and who also ousted her best friend and caused problems in her marriage; David Tennant, who I also really do like, being a passive husband who is afraid to talk to his dismissive and majorly controlling wife; Juliette Lewis, another great actress, who I still can't quite figure out except that she's a nymphomaniac who is accused of and does screw most of the men or they are trying to screw her and doesn't care about anyone who may get hurt and is so incredibly self absorbed; Arturo Del Puerto who is on the rebound, gets with the nymphomaniac and spends most of the series whining and crying; a couple who is trying to reconcile but the husband can't forgive and goes off in an anger burst at least once per episode and the last couple where the husband/partner is in recovery but drinks to excess throughout the episodes and finally realizes that he loves his wife/partner all the while none of them realize that the teenage daughter possibly has an eating disorder because the food supplies are being "stolen" and no one thinks to look around.
This could have been so much better than it was. All the actor's talents were wasted, it was not funny at all and things are done and just left there hanging.
After episode 3, I looked on here and saw Lena Dunham is one of the writers and was like "that explains it." This was written or adapted to American audiences by a over privileged, entitled, very disgusting in general Millennial "woman" whose parents were part of that weird and very odd "artist" community in Soho and I've met them in my life and they are bizarre but Lena came up as if she dropped down from another dimension.
Insatiable (2018)
If I could give a negative I would. How did this get approved
I think that Netflix is getting desperate and their standards are so low that I'm thinking of pitching an idea. This show is not darkly funny, amusing or really even interesting.
Not another heavy girl who gets thin and goes psychopathic and sociopathic and wanting revenge on...hell I don't even know. It has every cliche that it was predictable. Even the adults were seriously disturbed.
I guess it's for Millennials, Gen Z or whatever generation comes after that.
The Twilight Zone: Point of Origin (2019)
All the tears and anger, oh how I love them
For one viewer, they were not saying all people from one country look alike and it's an odd thing to say. There are blonde blue eyed Arabs and I know this because my step aunt has them. The writers are going off what the multitude of white Americans think so blame them.
I drown in the tears and anger of the Trumpkins, Trumpettes, Neo GOP, Super Neo Con supporters who vote against their own interest and then wonder why their lives are not getting and will not get any better. It just flies right over their heads but they know the reality of it and they don't like it.
The Outsider (2020)
HBO needs a streaming service
The first two episodes have been good. Ominous and kind of spooky, it sets up the events that will happen later on.
However, HBO is starting to lose out to streaming services that allows the consumer to watch the entire season if they choose. The days of "tune in next week" are going away and I wish HBO would consider it on their HBO GO platform.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
This is down right STUPID
Arya kills the Night's King? Really? This entire season shows just how lazy Friedman aka Benioff and the yes man Weiss are and now they don't even have that SW money anymore. GOOD. The director was asked to do the impossible. That stupid library scene was ridicules, San surviving was nonsensical and that stupid crypt scene was laughable. Now I know a very strong man or woman would have had a hard time punching their way through a stone block, but the dead people had no problem. Were they given this supersonic strength or something?
Then Sansa wants to complain about Dany who did not deserve it and starts to bad talk her and Tyrion just says nothing. Misandy is the one who points out that they would all be dead. Sansa is not a player but they wanted to make her one. I really started to hate the Starks in this season. Ungrateful people, oh and the North were made out to be racist when all that was needed was someone telling the "outsiders" that the Northerners were very different and distrust any outsider. No, instead of that, they snubbed people which did seem racist which I think is an extension of the Moron twins and Brian Cogman.
Horrible.
Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
Complete idiots
I gotta say that this episodes made me HATE the Starks and they were the family to root for. I think some of it was Arya saying "that's alright, I don't need many allies" like some dumb little hag who lives in a bubble, and then she leaves and goes South so we can be manipulated into "caring more when you're with someone you know" As if we would not care about the people UNLESS Arya was there. I feel insulted by this and anyone who thinks all of this makes sense or is good is an idiot.
Fyre Fraud (2019)
Interesting, the one I wanted to slap the most
I thought this was interesting as they took a different approach to this one. Marc Weinstein, no relation to Fat Harvey, said in an interview that he did not participate in this one due to Billy being paid for it. BUT, I think this shows just how clueless this SOB is and how much of a functional psychopath and sociopath he really is. Billy and his blank stares into space.
While I find violence distasteful, I did find myself wanting to slap the out of his "girlfriend" who I believe we all know was there to garner sympathy but I found her very annoying because she does not realize that the ONLY reason she was or is his girlfriend is because she is just arm candy to make him look as if he is actually a man and it makes her look like a complete fool. I really wanted to slap her when she said that everyone makes mistakes because this was not a mistake, he's a lower rent version of David Friedman aka Benioff. Total "boats and hoes" mentality. I hope in her everyday life she has menstrual cramps for her stupidity. Yea, definitely not the brightest and I think the dye from the bleach she uses has killed a lot of brain cells, sort of like Cabin in the Woods did.
Criminal: UK: Edgar (2019)
Reminds me of a class I co taught in grad school. David Tennant was outstanding.
I like this series. I used to co teach and was a graduate assistant for a professor while getting my Masters in Criminal Justice and one class she taught and I eventually co taught with her was Comparable Criminal Justice Systems. The US is based on English Common Law except Louisiana which is under French Civil Code so I am always interested in seeing shows that go into CJ systems in other countries and this delivered quite a punch.
It also was a bit heartbreaking and fascinating to see David Tennant play such a vile man. He was brilliant and he's so well versed that you do forget for a minute that he's acting. I'm becoming a David Tennant fan very quickly and all I can say is well done. The basic cast members were outstanding as well with DT being a support cast member.
There are just those actors/actresses who always make it seem so easy as if it's not a big effort on their part and the cast does that as does David.
This is very well done and there is nothing more that I can put into words about any of the performances.
Demon House (2019)
I would give it a negative and I think I lost a few brain cells watching this
I actually like when there is a documentary style movie about strange and as of the date unexplained by reason, logic however does present some kind of scientific data suggesting something did happen. I find those interesting and mostly enjoyable.
I watched a couple of episodes of Ghost Adventures and the show seemed more like it was catering to Zac's ego more than anything else, but the crew seemed to have picked up a few things that maybe right now we don't have a science sophisticated enough to explain. But there were parts of this that made me bust out with a laugh, especially the "Demon recreation" which was totally cheesy as well as some of the "recreations of events" which were horrible.
This guy claims to be an expert and I've seen other shows where recreations were done very well. You would think someone who has made a living from ghost adventuring would be able to or know how to recreate something decently in this so-called documentary because it's been done a lot of times, but the recreations looked cheep, redundant and were so stupid.
This director and "cast" should be sued for claiming something is real when they presented nothing remotely substantial.
I still cannot get that stupid "demon" out of my mine because it was so stupid looking enough to be a joke instead of he ominous entity they were hoping for.
Get a day job Zac and don't lose it.
The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann (2019)
Those with money and those without and those who think they are detectives
No one knows what happened. I think it is justifiable that the police would question the parents story and I have no idea what I would do if this had happened to me and I don't know how I would act. BUT, that father and son "team" who thought they would play super detective, they were/are a joke. "Oh a little girl is involved" YEA, well what about the little girls whose parent DON'T have money and need help? They were a joke.
And harassing those two men over and over and over again and the one guy was young and 10 years of his life have been severely damaged because who wealthy parents, who could have either found a nanny or used the babysitting service didn't.
Yea, I blame the parents and I am sorry for the little girl. But that does not mean they or their minions who don't have a freaking clue about procedures, evidence handling or anything but a good team of expensive lawyers, yea nothing going on there. I thought the Kennedy father and son team were awful, horrible people and I would not spit on them. They don't care about missing children, it seemed that what they were interested in is making a name for themselves because, and I don't care how much money they have, they are two useless human mounds of flesh.
Fuller House: Perfect Sons (2018)
Least favorite episode since the disagerous 2nd half of S03
I am glad that some of the fresh wounds from the 2nd half of season 3 were addressed, amends made and friendships mended. This was though the season. It surprised me that Candace Cameron Brue would have episodes that dealt with an unintentional humiliation and broken hearts and I was glad to see them straitened out.
But this episode sucked. I can understand being proud of your children and grandchildren, but Bob Saget's attitude as Danny Tanner was abhorrent in this episode. He's co host of a television show and has kids on his show, one of which was his grandson, and the funniest one of all. However, his attitude, which he states, of "it's not my grandchild so I don't care" and says it to another child was horrible. I'm surprised that Candace would have it in because what it said was that no other kids count, they are second rate for the "show" because they were not related to Danny and Becky and that really was messed up. It was rude, obnoxious and for a show that call itself family friendly really did not show it's self to be in this episode.
It might as well be called "The Tanner family takes presidence over everyone in the world.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Subject to change--A lot of holes and storylines that went no where
While I understood that it was going to be darker than the 90s sitcom, I was not quite expecting this. I can understand the idea of the dark baptism and the world of the night as any religion that includes "witches" has been very secretive until the the latter part of the 20th century and there is a lot of misconceptions about how many are organized. I was a bit taken back about the writing in the book of the beast and seems to be about the stereotypical idea of satanism than what we know as the Church of Satan and Anton LeVey. Levey's idea was total free will, the idea that women were equal to men or even more so given they create life and can channel their "power" because of it. LeVey was about sex, some drugs and rock and roll which was my generations way of saying "party on dude" and were not necessarily "evil" as many would believe.
While Sabrina was not completely evil, the idea of a series showing a more evil and menacing Satanism was a bit confusing. However, having a song by Charles Manson was also strange as well as the contempt the "witches and warlocks" seemed to have for mortal humans made it seem more elites than anything and what was very confusing was that they also played music from the Hippie era that was not menacing that seemed counter to the Dark Church's theme or atmosphere.
Hilda was very different than Zelda, both played by great actresses as I am a fan of both. Hilda was more tolerant, kindly, sympathetic with no animosity toward the mortal humans and it seemed to show her similar to the Weasley family who liked the Muggles and thought of them as not very different than the Witch/Wizard community. In fact, she seems to like the mortals and this is proven true when she takes a job at a bookstore. SHe is nurturing and quiet maybe even shy and is very different than her twin Zelda and does not want to see the mortals harmed or bothered unless it's necessary for the greater good of all while Zelda, at least in the beginning, thinks of them as less than.
One thing I thought was interesting and left me wondering if there are more "witch" communities different than the Dark Lord's church and that was the name of the girls group Sabrina and her friends start, WICCA. Wicca if anybody doesn't know, is an Earth based religion where the practitioners assimilate into the larger community, do no harm and helps others with teas, soups, bathing salts and things more positive. Less scary and more healing where anyone can leave the community if they choose and still be a part of things the community does. I am wondering if that is there for future episodes and season where an actual WICCAN community moves into Greendale and settles there and are at odds with the Dark Lord and the Church of the Night and brings with them creatures and lore with them to Greendale but do it in secret and fighting against the High Priest's agenda and not making themselves known. I would not mind seeing a WICCAN community move into Greendale and secretly working against the Dark Lord and maybe attracting Church of the Night's members to them. See, this is where I see Hilda being a part of and rejecting the way of the Church of Night and it will be interesting if that happens. Maybe in some way, Sabrina called out to them without knowing it.
Zelda is a competent person who wants things her way, doesn't care about causing pain to others usually but also has this need to nurture as well but rarely shows that to people.
It would also seem that not everyone is too keen on everything the High Priest is about or the Church like Ambrose who seems more free spirited with Hilda and can recognize a very dark path when he sees it. I wonder if he would like to be free of the Church as well.
Things they didn't address were what actually happened to Sabrina's parents, does Sabrina have a sibling or twin or if Sabrina truly gives herself to the Dark.
I kept getting annoyed with Sabrina for not knowing what NOT to do such as resurrect Tommy like she did and doing things without thinking about the consequences. At times I wanted to slap her even though I know she meant well.
Haunted (2018)
If I could, I would give this a negative number, -10
The first episode was actually decent and I thought it was going to be about similar instances. But, the second episode was what made it laughable and outrageous, and ILLEGAL. "The Slaughterhouse" is unbelievable for a few reasons. I can understand why the kids lived in fear and I can go so far as to say that maybe something in the house or around it, given that the claim is the "house" was built over Native American burial ground, and that it altered the personalities of the occupants. What I find very hard to believe is that, according to this family, their parents and grandparents were serial killers who killed an unknown number of people, "stays," and not once was there ever any notice of it. Now, given that this supposedly occurred in the 70s it's not too far a stretch that people would travel about and never be heard from again. But, even families will start to wonder after a while.
The Slaughterhouse episode was too outrageous because at NO time were the police ever mentioned. All of the family members also admitted to hiding evidence in an investigation, and I am not talking about when they were young where no one would believe them or would get them in deeper trouble. No, they talked about as adults they know that people are buried or think they are and are not saying anything to the police about it, keeping it secret and even talked of burning it by calling the fire department. Hello? I am not completely sure of this, but the fire department would want to know why they wanted it burned, it's a murder scene. It's not that I think things like that couldn't happen, but at no time did anyone ever think of notifying the police. Oh, and then one of them allowed their mother, a co murderer of unknown number of people, to live with her. Stockholm Syndrome maybe? It's not laughable because it's funny that this may have happen, but the "family's" logic is so messed up. They will tell their story on some stupid show, but not to the police? That's laughable.
The third one was not as bad but it was stupid too full of someone wanting to tie a poltergeist to them, for some reason, a overly religious nutbag mother and after that, I just stopped watching, I couldn't even finish episode 3 or 4 because it became so absurd.
I can't believe Netflix would actually take the time to do this.
Sierra Burgess Is a Loser (2018)
It's easy to blame Sierra for "Catfishing" when Veronica sent Jamey her number as a joke on Sierra
I've seen a lot of people say how bad Sierra is and how sweet Veronica is and that proves the point of the whole exterior appearances nonsense. It seems that a lot of people are clueless when it comes to life.
Of course Veronica is a good person and was really very sweet. That's one of the points of the movie. She had a lot she was dealing with and didn't feel safe talking about to her shallow friends so she acted the part of the b@tch mean girl because no one ever gave her a chance to be herself until she started going around Sierra.
Yes, Sierra has some dark in her, it's called having no self confidence, not feeling she could never be considered beautiful and was a deep and caring person who had some self esteem but inside it bothered her that she was not considered beautiful until she started going around Veronica.
MAYBE it's just me, but what Veronica did to Sierra, giving her number to some guy she didn't know is DANGEROUS to begin with and was a mean thing to do. It seems no one or very few caught on to the moral of the story or the event that brought these two girls together and that is the story.
It's so hard to think that even today people can be so shallow as to MISS THE POINT OF THE MOVIE. It was NOT about a boy, it was about the unlikely friendship between two girls who needed each other and it was a little like a fairy tale of sorts. Veronica thought she was dumb and she wasn't, she had self esteem issues of her own she was dealing with and closed herself up to project these "mean girl" image of herself so people wouldn't find out when in reality she was hurting too, just as much as Sierra. Sierra had body image issues and thought she was ugly when really she was wanting for people to look past that and had some talents she was not aware of until Veronica and her became unlikely friends, a friendship that was based on both of the girl's true selves without any "normal" shallow, phony nonsense and THAT was the core issue of this story.
And yes, Sierra realized that she had a bit of a mean girl in her too like everybody does. However, and I know this from experience, all of us have that inside ourselves. Sierra did betray Veronica and only hurt herself and almost lost a wonderful friendship because of a situation that BOTH girls created but both of them did grow to love each other and IMO both girls needed that experience so that they would grow as people. They both learned that there is a deeper level of friendship and they both got to have that with each other. No, I do not like what Sierra did, but I don't like what Veronica did either about giving out her phone number the way she did, so both girls were in the wrong here.
I believe the point of the story was to show that even though the grass may seem greener, it's isn't always the case and I think Sierra understood that standing in Veronica's house. Veronica understood that by getting to know Sierra. The important thing is that Veronica learned the true meaning of beauty and so did Sierra and they both inspired each other and decided to remain friends. I thought it was an unusual tale of how to get these two girls to be friends.
Criminal Minds: Blood Hungry (2005)
Was that kid's voice really his?
The little boy in the beginning was kind of cute, but I am wondering if that was his real singing voice because it grated on my nerves to the point that I wanted to rip my ear drums out and scratch my eyes around. Nothing sets the mood better than a cute kid singing some religious song in a high and unnatural voice that just grate on my nerves. seriously, if I was not watching it on Netflix, I would have thrown something at my tv set.
I would say that the episode was good for the reason that it shows what happens when you live in a pretentious area and things, serious things, get ignored because of "what the neighbors would say" or "money makes things go away." type of mentality that tends to exist in these types of communities and I know because I've been around these type of communities. The idea of someone with a serious and manageable mental illness being dumped out on the streets and his own mother not taking it seriously is very alarming and so fitting in today's atmosphere. Typical.
The FBI crates a lot of problems and most likely creates more psychopaths than it gets off the streets.
The Originals: The Kindness of Strangers (2018)
Mikaelson family drama, bloody hell but loved Phoebe's tribute
I hated that Haley died because I liked her. I thought the season one flirtation with Elijah was cute but I always thought Haley and Jackson made a much better couple and she did love him as did the Mikaelsons as well.
It was great how they made a tribute to her because she deserved better. I really liked seeing Klaus and Haley bond and how he realized that he took for granted the opportunities he missed because, well, he's Klaus. I always thought Haley and Klaus made a good team, maybe not a couple but a good team and I will miss her.
But, let's not forget that Hope started this and it's sad that she's going through pain but maybe her mother would still be alive if she hadn't thrown a hissy fit like a spoiled brat and do something Klaus like by putting her mother in danger..
The season one flirtation with Haley and Elijah was cute but I didn't like them as a couple especially after Jackson died because I thought Haley and Jackson made a much better couple and Haley did love him and he didn't deserve to die the way he did.
I don't know why it is that it is always up to Elijah to "save" all of them all the time. As much as I like the characters, Klaus can sometimes grate on my nerves when he goes with his rage all the time and when he bit Antoinette, I do not get why everyone wanted Elijah to remember his family again after he clearly stated that he didn't want to last season and could be free of all of it. Hell, even Haley wanted to distance herself from him and had a new love interest that even Hope loved or seemed to. I did not see the point of forcing his memories back on him other than to make him suffer. Antoinette seemed so good for him and I think if she had known what her mother was doing with Haley, she would have urged Elijah to help her but instead we get this Klaus and Hope Mikaelson rage fit situation that they both caused.
It's sad that Hope is sad, but she caused this situation in the first place, but once again, the Mikaelsons do not want to own up to it. Cole doesn't want to get involved with the family drama and it was nice seeing Cole again. Finn grew to hate his siblings except for Freya and yet this always and forever crap just goes on and on and on. I guess it never occurred to Klaus or any of them to approach Elijah in a different way, explain things to him in a way that was different than Klaus showing up at his bar, try to get Antoinette to leave him by breaking his heart after finding someone who was a good match for him.
Maybe it is just me, but I was kind of mad at this episode because it's a never ending cycle of abuse by Klaus usually and now because Hope put her mom in this situation in the first place, Klaus threatening Elijah's new life and love it once again ended in disaster and Elijah once again loses any kind of normalcy to be stuck to his family.
It's one thing to love family and always be there for them and another to forsake your entire life when a situation arises that could have been avoided in the first place if it were not for the actions of said family. It pissed me off that Elijah and Antoinette won't be together because she was more of a gentle natured vampire that Elijah could have been happy with.
A Wrinkle in Time (2018)
I felt bad for the actors in this, poor reimagining of a great story
One thing about the vast majority of movies and are either not well made or just plain bad usually is of no fault of the actors involved. The actors all did a great job and I refuse to fault them for this movie doing so badly. I think all of them did a great job and that needs to be said. However, when the story does not come together and the script is bad, and when, in this case, the book does not follow certain thing crucial to the story, then it seems that often times it can look like a bad performance on their part which is very unfair. I also wonder how much is on the editing room floor.
I do think it's great when a story adapted from a book can be reimagined using more modern day situations and events that are more relatable if it's possible and this one should have been one of those. For instance, Calvin's dad being very demanding. We do not actually "see" his dad in the novel, we see his mother who is a worn out, bitter woman who is a bit abusive.
But, the book seems to be missing some characters such as Meg and Charles Wallace twin brothers. Other things that were changed were things like who Meg was. She was a "trouble maker" meaning that she was assertive in a "rage against the machines" type of way. In this version, Meg seems more like a push over who cowers at things instead of "fighting back." I have read A Wrinkle in Time" twice and Meg's dad was not gone for so long. Basically, the movie was missing half it's characters or a lot of them anyway.
Things happened very fast whereas the book and the previous 2003 version, the TV Movie, showed a longer passage of time. It felt very rushed, had little character development on a lot of the characters, had frayed ends in the story to the point where it just became annoying and unwatchable. I had a hard time following it and it felt like it was saying nothing with a whole lot. It will be interesting to see if an uncut version comes out, but it is still missing two important characters, the twin brothers, in the story.. It was oversimplified and should have been a longer movie.
So, I would not recommend this movie to anyone who has read any of Madeleine L'Engle's books about the Murray?O'Keefe family aka the Kairos series.
Supernatural: Exodus (2018)
Sam and Dean are getting on my nerves
I know that I'm supposed to like Sam and Dean and they are good and Lucifer is bad, but in this episode I think they're jerks. Supernatural is a show where the there is a big blur where the good guy/bad guy part is. We have seen Sam, Dean, Castiel, Crowley, John, the British Men of Letters, Angels, Demons and all sorts go from one to the other at times so I gotta ask here, who are the "good" guys supposed to be?
I do not know the real Lucifer or any angel or demon, but the way Sam did Lucifer in this episode was messed up. Sam, of all people, the one who's always talking about people's good sides and how everything deserves a chance and he goes and screws him over? Why? He had to have known that Lucifer was not about to allow Sam or Dean to get the best of him.
I can't believe that brought back Richard, Gabriel, just to kill him off again, that sucked. Then Cas didn't seem cool with the "Sam took care of it (Lucifer)" which I did think was a bad move on so many levels.
Now, I am not Team Lucifer here, and yes he has done some messed up things, but he did bring Sam back to life, saved their butts, was helping and was betrayed by Sam and Dean, which I kind of don't blame here, but we have Jack to think about here and when he finds out Sam killed his dad, I don't think he is going to take it well.
So, stupid, idiotic, messed up and total d*ck move on the part of the Winchesters.
Killer Contact (2013)
Seriously?
I don't know what this was about. My jaw dropped during some parts of it and I don't know really what to say because it was RIDICULES! I didn't mind the "tech guru" because he seemed like he at least had some idea of what he was doing, but when they started "naming people" such as "the front man," "the role player..." I was like "you have got to be kidding" and for a short time thought it might be a mockumentary or something The Onion would come up with. There are a lot of paranormal reality shows on and a few of them I quite enjoy because it is talking about an experience that happened to them and you can see the actual people and hear their story, Paranormal Witness is good one. However, when the one guy, "the antagonizer" started yelling at air, I thought it might be a student promo film of some sorts because yelling at air seemed a bit asinine. Then when the "role player" (?) started to act like one of the victims, I nearly fell out of my seating laughing because it was so STUPID. All of the fancy names they wanted to give themselves, for whatever reason, just make the show more of a joke that no one can take it seriously or even attempt to. I have watched Ghost Adventures and thought they were real cheesy with some of the stuff they do, but this is nothing but cheese through and through. I don't know if they were actors or what because it is hard to take this as a real show based in reality when the ones doing the show are so idiotic in what they do, such as screaming and daring the spirit to come out of hiding as if they will pop up and say "Oh, hi, I will be there in a minute, want a sandwich while you wait?" I mean, come on, even I can act better than that. Oh, and the "role player" acting like one of the victims is a terrible insult to the victims of Jack the Ripper. If I would have been told about this show, I would have thought someone was messing with me but you can't make this crap up.
This show seems so fake that I would not be surprised if on the next episode they come out and say "GOTCHA!" Do yourself a favor, if you are interested in the paranormal or supernatural, don't watch this show. I would call it two guys that seem to know something about what they are doing and two guys and a chick who are complete imbeciles.
Ominous (2009)
Not too bad for a lower budget
I have seen just about every horror movie I can get my hands on, but I would not classify this as a horror so much as a suspense/thriller. For a low budget movie, I thought it was pretty good and I think it would have been better with some money put into it. The movie is not gory, volatile or anything like that. It was subtle and not exactly straight forward and yes, the movie did drag at times, but it makes sense at the end of the movie. The sound production could have been better and a couple of the actors seemed nervous more than bad acting and there was some good acting. Some may not like it, but some may. I still think for a low budget movie, it was worth a watch. The plot is not exactly what you think it is.
