The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Fantastic
At first this seems like a cookie cutter horror movie with a slightly odd thread holding it together like an anthology, although it is not one. While it didn't manage to infuse me with too much fear, the acting is well-above par, and the script is that gem of gems: something you most likely have not seen before.
Evil Dead (2013)
Prett darn good.
Don't be fooled by the fact that this is a remake. It bares little resemblance to the original film. It's dark, gory and lacks any real black humor. Even in this day and age where we're all so callous and jaded that nothing makes us blink, you might find a scare here and there in this brutal straight-forward horror film. This movie is definitely worth your time so long as you don't expect the inclusion of cheesy one-liners and goofy dismembered body parts scampering about.
Dead Air (2009)
Watchable
There's not much original to be seen here, but it isn't all bad. The acting is workmanlike. Most people are unlikely to be scared, and I personally think they could have improved the movie by making nearly all of it take place within the confines of the building they were broadcasting from.
Also, the setup at the beginning of the movie is very unnecessary and could have been better achieved by hearsay, caller's on the radio, etc. That being said, it is a watchable movie, but be prepared for a cliché, we didn't really try too much, ending.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Shocked
I was convinced I wouldn't finish the movie. Typically, anything that does this well at the box office bores me to death. I cried 3 times, and I can't wait for the sequel. She felt like a warrior Jesus/Joan of Arc suffering for our sins. Thank you, Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and all the other people involved who brought a rare good day into my life by making this work of art.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Finally!!
Looking for some zombie action, but afraid of what garbage they're gonna try to pass off on you this time? Look no further this series is quality!! I would have never guessed that something made for the small screen could hook me in like this series did.
Finally something has hit the screen to top Romero's Dawn of the Dead. The Walking Dead nearly has it all; production value (the zombies look fantastic), quality acting, interesting characters, action, and just the right amount of gore . If you have any interest in horror movies, zombies, or just an interesting story with good character development; you can't go wrong with this one. The only downside is I can't really say it ever put a scare in me, but perhaps nothing on the screen can anymore.
