Fear the Walking Dead: Children of Wrath (2017)
Good stuff
I think FTWD is miles ahead of the original WD. The characters here are more believable and less comic bookish. My only complaint here is I thought the Jeremiah Otto character is not as multi-layered as it should have been. The *twist* ending here, if I can call it that, is fairly predictable. Old Man Otto is the politically incorrect character and he's gotta go...So the script is tilted to make his character's actions more morally reprehensible than that of Walker....On a side note, I did like the Stand By Me remake at the end unlike one of the reviewers...
Final Draft (2007)
Worth a look
I think a lot of the bad reviews here were written by people expecting a straight horror flick. I know their rebuttal will be that they were expecting a 'good movie' but to each his own. This is more of a psychological drama. There is a palpable state of tension throughout as we really don't know where the the main character's hallucinations are going to take him. It kept me watching so I gave it a higher mark than most.
HellBent (2016)
Low budget short
Plot involves three "escorts" who fight over the possession of a magical box which promises both them and their clients pleasure. The movie looks to be made on a micro-budget but it is watchable and the actresses are attractive. Could have used more gruesome scenes but I liked how each of the women had the same motivation but different ends to achieving it.
Preacher (2016)
First season = great...second = zzzzz
Loved the first season of what I thought would be a long-running gem of a series. Lucy Griffiths steals whatever scene she's in. Dominic Cooper as the Preacher is likable as well. But the second season is simply horrible...it is quirky for its own sake and there is very little drama/suspense to the narrative. We have the Saint of Killers tracking down the Preacher and little else to keep our interest.
