Capturing the beauty, pain, and wonder of life in under 40 minutes
29 August 2019
Every frame of this film is a gift. The music and imagery collaborate to leave viewers examine the totality of existing. Life, death, childhood, aging, love, heartache, grief, despair, joy, creativity, wonder - this film effortlessly dances through it all.

The emotional dexterity on display is masterful. The Avant-gardener left me feeling all of the things. But beyond evoking the emotions, it had me reflecting on them. It is easy to get lost in our own heads, especially in this chaotic moment of history. But truly great art snaps us out of it and gives us an opportunity to reassess and re-engage with our own most primordial selves.

The Avant-gardener is truly great art - a poem I didn't know I needed to read.
