Strange low budget thriller with lots of gore and great OST
28 February 2022
I have seen Occhiali neri last night at FEST - International Film Festival, Belgrade . It's a very strange Iittle thriller, very bizarre and very low budget. The plot is extremely silly, with water snakes and other over-the-top decisions, but that's Argento for you. We don't expect logic in his films. Do we? There is warmth in it as well, it's very character driven. It feels rushed in places and acting is so-so, but overall you should definitely see if you're Argento fan. It's his best since Nonhosonno, fast paced and never boring. And yes... it's very gory. The third act reminded me of the begining of Rob Zombie's Halloween 2, because it's basically a long chase scene in the countryside. The OST is great.

This is not a bad movie
1 January 2021
I saw the IMDb rating and thought that Shadow in the Cloud will be bad, but it isn't. It's not a great movie, but it's decent and fun. The dialogue at the beginning was over the top, It felt too aggressive and forced, but the second act and the third act were action packed and Moretz is great in it. Yes, the plot is very, very silly and cartoonish, but get over it - it's just a movie, not the real life. This is not a 4.2 movie, it it is at least 6.

Not good at all
20 May 2020
I thought this could be something special because Samara Weaving is in it, but I was wrong. I really like Weaving, she's my favorite up and coming actress, but this film... Sorry, but it's not good at all. This is a very boring thriller that simply doesn't work. Samara's role was nothing special, and Brian Cox was in it for just a few minutes and did nothing. The lead actor didn't make a strong impression and he's in every scene, and his acting is very bland. And the plot... Well, it really didn't make much sense. Skip this one.

Sexy and disturbing space journey
15 March 2019
I liked it. A lot. It's a low buget film, but very well made. I loved the visuals and directing, as well as adult star Stoya in the lead female part. She is great as a sex robot, a real joy to watch. Her body language is superb, as I was very suprised by her acting skills. An art film set in space and filled with sex.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
14 September 2009
This movie is very, very boring. It's not long (runs only 80+ minutes), but it's extremely slow-paced and uninteresting. The acting is poor, the main character (played by American actor David Thornton) looks like he's bored to death. There's a cameo by the great Cyndi Lauper (Thornton's real life wife). She's in two short scenes, but nothing interesting there - very disappointing. The New York scenes with Branislav Trifunovic are unnecessary for the movie's plot, they are overlong and should have been cut. And one more (very important) thing - Belgrade shown in this movie is not the real Belgrade. Belgrade isn't a perfect city, but it's not a strange dirty place full of weird, crazy people. My hometown is (among other things) a beautiful place and this movie doesn't do it justice. This is a sub par TV movie at the best.

Serbian Zombies
6 March 2009
This movie is a fun, popcorn flick. It's not the best zombie movie ever made, not by a long shot, but I had a great time watching it.

Ken Foree (from the original Romero's Dawn of the Dead) is one of my favorite horror actors. I will watch anything starring Foree, and he does not disappoint here. This is his movie - all the way. And I liked Kristina Klebe very much as well - she's very good with the shotgun.

The other actors are in the movie for the body-count, but this is a zombie movie after all - we need to have some victims, don't we? The death of Yovana (Iskra Brajovic) was the best kill in the movie, Miroslav Lakobrija's special effects are top notch considering the budget.

A must see for all zombie fans out there.

Mission Zero (2007)

Yellow Lamborghini with Uma driving! Hell, Yeah!
25 August 2007
In my book, Kathryn Bigelow is a great director. I like almost all of her films including horror road movie "Near Dark", cool thriller "Blue Steel", action filled "Point Break" and SF master-peace "Strange Days".

Unfortinatly for the last ten years or so, her career is slowing down. I hope that her new film will be return to form - and until then we have "Mission Zero"

"Mission Zero" is a neat action packed short movie, starring the one and only Uma Thurman. The story is simple, but kind of cool: a sexy woman (Thurman) is chased around the city in her yellow Lamborghiniby. The killers are everywhere.

Bigelow delivers good action peace - it is short and kind of pointless, but it's fun times. The fans of Uma and "Kill Bill" will be delighted to see her as an action heroine once more.

Summer Samba (2002 Video)

Crazy little dog playing a piano!
14 August 2007
This is a family movie, short and funny. SUMMER SAMBA is a dog who can play a piano (imagine that), and he's helping local kids. There's song and dance, music numbers and comic moments. I liked the movie. It's not a master-peace, but it's well written and directed. The actors are not that great, but the dog, Summer Samba, steals the show anyway! Btw, Summer Samba (also known as So Nice or its original Portuguese title, "Samba de Verão") is a 1966 bossa nova song by Brazilian composer Marcos Valle, with English-language lyrics by Norman Gimbel; the original Portuguese lyrics came from Paulo Sérgio Valle, brother to the composer. Notable versions include those by Astrud Gilberto and later by Bebel Gilberto, both of which recordings have been used in several television programs and in widely broadcast TV advertisements.

This time the mission WAS impossible
7 May 2006
I didn't like the third mission; I didn't like it at all. The first two were much, much better.

First of all, the script was pedestrian, nothing special there. Kerri Russell was completely wasted in this – she deserves better roles. This is Tom's show – and Tom's show alone. That's fine with me – he IS Ethan Hunt after all – but he was very annoying this time around and his screen presence was definitely lacking. The action scenes were only so-so. And, yes - the love story was very unconvincing. Miss Monaghan looks great (so does Cruise – for his age anyway) but there's no chemistry between them.

Don't watch this on the big screen – If you must see it, rent the DVD.

Jason Snaps Freddy
30 September 2003
I have seen recently 'Freddy vs. Jason' and I was delighted! The film was very, very good, most certainly one of the best horror films of 2003. Don't get me wrong, 'Freddy vs. Jason' isn't for everyone. If you don't like slasher movies- stay away from it. If you don't like horror comedies- stay away from it. But if you like your Nightmare and Friday films, gore galore, gratuitous nudity, cheap thrills- step right in! You'll have a blast! It's without doubt the best Jason movie up to date and it's highly superior to all of the NOES sequels. Robert Englund is the movie's highlight, but like in the first two NOES movies Freddy's presence is limited to some extent: and that's a good thing. Freddy from 'FvJ' is not scary as Freddy from the original Nightmare movie, but he's still able to act ominous. Monica Keena (Lori) is very well equipped for the leading lady in a film of this sort. She's young, blond, big breasted and screams loud. Her scenes with Englund were effective and convincing. She's no Maryl Streep , but for the love of God, this is 'Freddy vs. Jason' movie, it's not 'The Hours'! 8/10

My Little Eye (2002)

Disturbing
10 June 2003
Reality kills!!! `My Little Eye' surprised me because I didn't expect an intelligent horror thriller when I rent it. This movie is everything but your standard teen slasher. Most importantly, the script was good and the director definately knew what he was doing. Acting is very decent and I particularly liked female cast: Laura Regan and Jennifer Sky are very pleasant to the eye and, at the same time, they CAN act. In the first 2/3 of the movie there isn't any blood and mayhem. The build up is unexpectedly long, but it's worth it! All the murders are set in the final act, and that's a good thing, because we get to know our characters. Beware! If you are looking for cheap thrills stay away from this movie! This is a disturbing little movie that will make you think, and you have to have a brain for that. Not for everyone!!!!! EXCELENT! 9,5/10

sucks
23 May 2003
I'm very disappointed! This movie is long and boring. They should have cut it to 100 min. to make it work. The Zion scenes are completely unnecessary and dull. Action set peaces are crafty filmed but, at times, are very monotonous. The story is VERY thin and farfetched and the ending is just awful . And one more thing: Keanu Reeves is a terrible actor! He maybe looks cool, but he just can't act. Plus: Fishburne is to fat for the part, and his character is EXTREMLY annoying this time around. All in all: cheap thrills and no substance, a couple of good action sequences are all you could hope for. 3/10

the pits
11 December 2002
The new 007 adventure is a big disappointment! I like James Bond movies like the next guy, but this one.it's just so off! Brosnan is still O.K., but he's getting too old for the part and it shows. Paradoxically, he's the best asset this movie has! Screenplay is so `been there, done that' that it almost hurts and, unfortunately, the cast doesn't help either. Halle Berry is so sexy that she doesn't feel obligated to act; John Cleese / Samantha Bond comic relief is unfunny; Judi Dench's character is extremely annoying; Madonna is completely vested.I was surprised that the special effects were, mostly, so poor that, at times, I felt like watching an old `V' episode.. The movie is just shockingly bad! The only thing I really liked were the opening credits and few scenes involving sword/knife fighting (Bond vs. Graves; Jinx vs. Miranda Frost) . So, Mr. Bond can't die another day: HE'S ALREADY DEAD!
