The Prince (2021)
Honestly the biggest crime is that it's just not funny
If you are looking for a hilarious take on royalty I highly recommend The Windsors; it's hilarious (without taking cheap shots at kids). Aside from the legitimate issue of making fun of a child this show is simply not funny.
Disjointed (2017)
What is with the laugh track? I can't watch this show and I really, really wanted to like it
I am a huge Kathy Bates fan but I could not make it past 5 minutes of this show. Who does a show with a canned laugh track anymore? It was so annoying and distracting I had to turn it off. Sadly this is one show I will not be able to enjoy and I was really looking forward to her humorous starring role.
Designing Woman (1957)
I agree with the above comments
All the elements were there, but it just didn't gel into the magic one would expect. I found the excessive use of voice-over narration in the first half of the movie irritating. Movies are supposed to tell us a story, but not literally! After all, that was one of Ed Wood's favorite techniques. The movie is worth a screening for the beautiful costumes of the female leads alone, but I won't be looking out for the DVD release anytime soon.
Mr. Wong, Detective (1938)
This movie is a campy hoot!
I have the Mr. Wong series on DVD and find it quite enjoyable. You must immerse yourself in the ambience of sitting in a darkened movie theater circa 1939 watching a double bill of "B" movies to enjoy. By modern detective story standards it is creaky, but you don't watch it for the plot. I agree the sheer political incorrectness of the very British Boris Karloff playing a Chinese detective takes some getting used to, but he lends the role an air of dignity that a less talented actor would not be capable of expressing. Grant Withers is most famous for eloping with a seventeen year old Loretta Young before her rise to stardom. The later films in the series feature a cheeky Marjorie Reynolds and gives her ample room to display her comedic talents. All in all, suspend your modern frame of reference and enjoy!
