Dragonball Evolution (2009)
Bad
I knew it would be bad so I didn't have any expectations, you could say I watched it just for the heck of it...and I still regret it so much. Dear God, it was like watching Power Rangers shooting magic! Everything was bad: the acting was bad, the special effects were bad, the storyline was bad, for goodness sake, it was so bad I couldn't even laugh at it! Even if you try to watch it as completely unrelated to the manga/anime, it's still utter crap.
I realize that recreating a story from 80s isn't easy but I just can't understand why they had to make it even more corny...and if you're trying to make it more realistic, you should stick to it to the end.
Mind Game (2004)
A very interesting experience
I think 'Mind Game' is one of those movies that you either really like or really hate, but never in the middle. I spent first 20 minutes itching to turn it off since the animation style didn't seem all that pleasant, but then things just kept happening and before I knew it I was really immersed in it.
'Mind Game' has everything: irony, action, humour , even romance; and it touches practically every aspect of human life, going from relationships to domestic problems. All that covered in psychedelic imagery leaves a great impression.
You might experience various emotions watching this movie but one thing for sure, you won't feel like you've wasted your time when it's over.
Hotaru no haka (1988)
Probably the most beautiful movie I've ever seen
'Grave of the Fireflies' is an absolutely wonderful animation that is a must to see. It leaves a tremendous emotional impact and a lot to think about.
The war-ridden world is beautifully depicted through the eyes of children. Their innocence and naivety collides with the cruelty of reality showing how insignificant a human life is during war.
It is true that this story is very upsetting and might bring you to tears many times but that shouldn't discourage you from watching it. In fact, that's why it's so good. I can't think of another movie that left such an impact on me.
Pâfekuto burû (1997)
Definitely not the best of Satoshi Kon
I must say I was disappointed in this one and expected a bit more from Satoshi Kon.
It started as a celebrity-wannabe drama, developed into personality crisis drama and only then into something you could call a thriller. The beginning was really dragging on, many characters seemed stereotypical (sure, it's always the nerd and the fat woman behind everything) and the main character appeared superficial. The ending was also very disappointing: just as things started to get really good it turned into an average scene where a maniac is chasing an innocent girl, moreover, the last episode was just corny.
However, this anime did have some excellent parts. The scenes where reality gets mixed up with dreams and Mima's role in the movie were marvelous. I ended up utterly confused and on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next.
All in all, 'Perfect Blue' doesn't have much to surprise you with but it might be a good way to kill your boredom.
Death Note: Desu nôto (2006)
interesting only once
I have to admit that this anime hooks you from the very first episodes and it is most definitely interesting to watch to the very end (maybe except a few episodes). However, the more you think about it the more ridiculous it gets. Characters are pretty typical for an anime (even if the main character is a bad guy, he's still a typical anime bad guy)... a bunch of weirdos for fan-girls to feast on.
The more I think over the plot the less sense it makes. A lot of things simply seem unnecessary and unreasonable. Actually, it's hard to find anything that makes sense in this show and some parts simply seem funny.
Basically, it is interesting to watch but I'd suggest doing it only once otherwise you might start hating it.
