The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Beautiful and moving
I can't add anything that nobody else has already said. This episode was incredibly moving, it brought genuine tears to my eyes. It reminds me of the Black Mirror episode, San Junipero. I'm not gay, I'm a straight happily-married man. Yet its multiple themes resonated deeply. If you can't score this episode highly, you're either emotionally immature or, well, I have no other explanation.
Another reviewer scored the episode a 1, but said "I thought this episode was great, but not great for this series". So they scored it a 1 in relation to the other episodes in the series. Seems somewhat harsh to me; they still could have given this episode at least a 7 compared to the usual dross elsewhere!
Time Trap (2017)
Decent, fun film
Not a great film, but a decent one nonetheless. Just don't take it too seriously, expect the odd goof, expect naive characters (heck, they're students).
Original, interesting storyline, good pacing, fun. If you've got a spare 90 minutes, and like sci-fi, it's well worth a watch.
Ignore the reviewers who claim that all the positive reviews are fakes ("One of the Best (or Worst) cases of Rating Manipulations"). Absolute nonsense. I'm a genuine reviewer, and this is a genuine review. It just proves that we're all different.
Black Mirror: San Junipero (2016)
Superb episode!
This is without doubt my favourite episode of Black Mirror (excluding anything after this episode, which I haven't yet seen).
It's a complete contrast to the previous episode ("Shut Up and Dance") which, while good, was nonetheless bleak and depressing (like most Black Mirror episodes).
I loved everything about this episode. I didn't read the synopsis beforehand, although it never gave anything away anyway. Come the end of the story I couldn't stop the tears!
I'm not gay. I'm a heterosexual family man approaching middle-age who grew up in the eighties playing arcade games and listening to - as luck would have it - music including INXS, Simple Minds, and Belinda Carlisle.
Ignore anybody who says this episode panders to the LGBT community, because that's utter nonsense.
I absolutely loved this episode!
Under the Blood-Red Sun (2014)
Very disappointing
This could have been a good film, but halfway through I longed for it to finish.
The acting was OK at times, mediocre at others. I've seen better acting in silly B-movie SF films!
The dialogue was, at times, very poorly written. You could forgive the non-American characters, their broken English was often pretty convincing. But the Americans' dialogue was often pretty abysmal. Dare I even suggest that a certain blond-haired boy was added for a little light-hearted relief, because he's quite possibly one of the most pathetic characters I've ever seen!
I feel bad for writing this review, but I honestly didn't like the film. As I'm writing this, the film has a rating of 8.2 after 44 ratings, which IMHO just doesn't reflect its poor quality.
