Road House (2024)
A movie worth watching
Everyone complains when they remake a movie, then those same people complain that it's not exactly the same. When you watch this, don't go in trying to compare. Go in, like a fresh movie. The lead is enjoying himself, the villain plays a perfect spoiled brat and Connor is pretty much being Connor. The fight scenes are great. I stoped at 8/10 simply because dialogue was short, character building was short and it could've had more thought put into it. However, I wanted to be entertained and I was. If looking for a good time action flick on a Friday night, this is a good pick. People forget that action flicks are not looking for Oscars.
Gretel & Hansel (2020)
What a waste of potential.
The lead has talent, the old witch was very creepy. She's great for the role (borg queen). How the character development was built and then just near the end; it seemed like nobody cares about anybody anymore and ya'll can just go piss off. That was pretty much the denouement. It got very very boring and I was waiting to be scared or even have my anxiety or blood pressure go up a point, but nope. Just like the characters in the story, I all of a sudden stopped caring about anything and wanted everyone to leave and for this to be over.
Crossing Over (2009)
It wasn't great, but you can't find anything bad about it.
Great acting, great plot, touching, moving and eye opening. I don't work in the immigration field and am not in company of many people who have had to deal with it. I can't say if the stories in this movie are exaggerations or are they the every day lives of immigrants trying to enter America. The writer definitively wanted to make a point, this is definitively a powerful one.
Dealing not only with immigration issues for middle eastern families, but also Australian and Japanese; this movie provides insight on the difficulties with immigration. It holds somewhat a comparison to the Tom Hanks movie where he was stuck in an airport terminal for months.
This movie is simply a must see. Well done.
The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008)
Forget saving Molly, somebody save this movie.
Predictable, copied, amateur. This is all I can say about this movie. This is Hollywood's bad attempt to rush teens into a movie theatre. It has the parties, the pretty boy, the rebel girl (Shannon Woodward - who i will admit is so absolutely beautiful), the jealous girl, the geeky girl and our poor little Molly. Put the pieces together folks, you've seen this movie a hundred times, other than the rip off parts at the start and very end (80's movie, I can't remember what it's called cause it as crap too).
I would normally write a better review, but like this film, it just isn't worth my time.
P.S. The girl from two and a half men, at some point will deserve an award for acting if she doesn't already.
I Love You, Man (2009)
Why do I listen to people
I listened to people rant and rave about this movie. I walked into the video store only to see a movie cover with a white background on it and three people in the foreground. Typically these movies have either two girls and a guy on the cover but in this case it's two guys and a girl. It doesn't matter what the title is because it's always the same crap. Some funny jokes at the start of the movie, followed by some epiphany or keen observation we can all relate too in our personal lives that make us go "Ohh yea.... I've seen people do that before". Then there is a love triangle, followed by some white lies when we all the know the audience is saying "Just tell the truth" or "Don't say that". Then some people don't talk to each other anymore cause they're mad but at the end there's this big long speech about how sorry they are and they can't go on without one another.
OK wait, what movie was i talking about? How to lose a guy in 10 days? No wait, Wedding Crashers,... no not that oh it's He;s just not that into you? crap i forgot, knocked up? the gay firefighter Adam sandler movie? No no wait it's Maid of Honor, 27 dresses. OH YEA!!!! I remember it's called I love you man.
Dear Hollywood, please stop recycling your shitty white covered movies.
Obsessed (2009)
It's not as bad as they say.
This movie is simple; if you saw the previews then you pretty much saw the movie. If you saw any other movie about obsessed chick stalkers then you saw this movie. The directors and producers get a big fat "F" for originality and creativity. However credit needs to be given to Idris Elba because he convincingly made me feel bad for his character, great acting. Ali Larder was obviously hot and her usual temptress self, however I must add that she played her role so well that towards the end of the movie I didn't care how hot she was, I too wanted to just get away from she creeped me out so much. Hope I didn't give anything away. P.S. this movie should not be ranked a 4.
