White Air (2007)
Quite possibly the worst movie ever...
***possible spoilers herein***
Okay folks, here's the real skinny on this movie...if you want the truth about this film, or what is really a waste of celluloid, pay closest attention to the negative reviews here and write off anything positive since the positives are probably written by people who have some interest in this film or want to steal money and time from you sneakily through the Internet, or who want to kind of make this a joke...because it really is...
It's very clearly a low budget film and I suspect most of the budget went to Tom Sizemore, and have to ask, what the hell was a talented guy like Sizemore doing in this piece of garbage of a film.
He has started to do lesser flicks, though he is A-list in ability and pure chops, so I suspect he either owed somebody something or was friends or somehow got conned into this, since his paycheck is probably as substantial for much lesser TV bit parts.
In a nutshell, I found this movie unwatchable.
The story sounded unoriginal but I had some free time alone on a Saturday night and so I watched this for maybe a half hour and now feel I should write the directors and so on and ask that they give me this half hour of my life back.
The girl playing Christie or however they spell it was the only real bright spot in this turd and the only real one who seemed with some talent and ability to appear believable for me. "Alex," was half believable and played the lead with this chip on his shoulder and the thing came off as horribly amateurish and boring.
The script was totally predictable. You could tell during the "competition" that the "crowd" consisted of about ten people who they consistently came back to in shots to show the clamoring "crowd," and really, it's not that difficult to find extras who will work for free just to do this.
The snowboarding was played with creatively to make it look like a live motion photoshop edit...and I found the half hour I spent/wasted watching this to be more boring than using the bathroom, clipping my fingernails or sweeping out the garage.
I cannot believe I actually did this.
I cannot believe I actually sat and watched this and some of the acting was pretty horrid, which makes it unbelievable, the story is rather maudlin with even parts that are supposed to be more light-hearted, cold and lifeless instead and the only redeeming qualities I even found were the pretty blond who played this Christie character, and then I was enthused to look up the large breasted brunette from the hot tub scene later on Google, because I like women...but I found little to laud in this time I spent watching.
Believe the negative and careful of the positive because you either have stuff that is written by people who worked on this and want to puff it up, or you have guys who think Wrestling is all real and not a show and the best entertainment available to mankind, i.e. not the sharpest tools in the shed, but tools nonetheless...
Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup (2009)
Summary: Possible Spoilers included...I'd say definitely...
*** This comment may contain spoilers ***
The writer/director/editor of this film has the narrator state at the end...something along the lines, and I'm paraphrasing since a friend had the copy I saw and I cannot go back and watch or read them...but the simple idea that "at this point in the film, you're either either thinking this is totally incredulous or this is all quite very possible."
I have to say, as someone who has been on the scene of many plane crashes and is a pilot to boot, I find it quite plausible that something else happened with possibly the two planes that hit the Pentagon and "crashed" into the ground even at the speed involved in Pennsylvania. As they note in the movie, there is no historical precedence for the absence of wreckage into the ground ever prior to that day on 9-11. And I can tell you as a pilot since we all study plane crashes, so as to not repeat the mistakes...this is actually a fact.
Just typing this here makes me kind of paranoid, because people in power...they are capable of the most heinous crimes against humanity.
I for one don't doubt for a single second, that men like former VP of the US Dick Cheney would happily expend a few thousand countrymen to further an agenda and line his pockets with gold. Bush didn't seem so smart, but the rest of his family including Grandfather Prescott Bush or however it's spelled, it's historically known that he was part of a group of fascists who offered Major General Smedley Butler $30 million US dollars to lead a fascist coup in 1934 against the then President of the United States.
The Congressmen he took this to actually believed him according to the film and web references and the President apparently made a deal with the fascist group to keep himself in power and alive.
I believe power can be this corrupting and even today, we see in America, an orchestrated effort to stop progress forward by President Obama, that has actually been proved to be orchestrated by the GOP and loud-mouthed operatives, tasked with coming out to town hall meetings, in the October 2009 Rolling stone magazine.
If you're a fan of Fox news, everything the left says is a conspiracy theory and the right-wingers in America are given a pass. Because they would rather jump the gun and sensationalize everything, the truth often never comes out and that's okay with them because Rupert Murdoch actually can save money by playing the same garbage over and over and over and other big corporate owned media outlets have followed this example so we almost never see the truth about anything.
Example after example after example is given here to show how it quite possibly was an inside job and if it were able to ever be tracked down and proved by the real patriots in America...like I don't believe very many men and women out of the CIA or the FBI would give corporate America a total pass on this, just like general after general after general retired from our military so they could speak out against the Bush administration, without having to deal with the consequences of making these statements while still in their own seats of power...that tells you something.
Not in most of our lifetimes had we seen this, but what these men in 1934 were doing was treason, something we normally string people up for...or imprison for the remainder of their natural lives.
Somebody weakened us and our intelligence operations by naming Valerie Plame as a covert operative in the last administration and it wasn't all about Scooter Libby...I mean who wants to spy for a nation which sells out its own agents for spite? Who? But this was treason and somebody other than Libby, was never brought to justice.
This is great film and I predict hard to find, but you can order it online and the purchase price even if it were a hundred bucks...it would be well worth the price. Nothing is more priceless than the truth today and Americans are next to clueless as to everything in the world today.
Even another documentary my pal had...something like "Outfoxed" which is old news and obviously about Fox news, showed what a bunch of liars and fabricators of the the truth the whole organization is...You cannot believe anything coming out of Newscorp.
Here they showed Bill O'Lielly as the left likes to call Mr Sextoy (Google the case against him by an intern he paid off for sexual harassment...makes Clinton look like nothing)reading viewer mail that said something like "show a little respect and quit telling everyone who disagrees with you to shut-up!" to which good old Bill the yarn spinner and liar extraordinaire (however it's spelled) claimed "I've only done that one time in six years" and then they played him doing it like fifty times, once even at a public event. This guy has zero class. I cannot wait until the day, somebody puts this classless piece of trash's head through a wall.I cannot wait. That day is coming...and people like him and Rush Limbaugh and all the rest of the GOP owned operatives will curse the day they were born. Hallelujah!
This movie is great food for thought and very worth your time...ten stars all the way.
Impact (2009)
Not as inaccurate as some reviewers would make you believe
After reading some other spoilers here, I was skeptical and I caught a couple of blown lines, like at the end when Alex tells Sergei, "We're not leaving anyone behind..." that was the greatest line screwup of the whole film since the mission commander just took an accelerated gravity fall over a cliff never to be seen again so sorry Alex, but yes you are leaving someone behind...nice marine line though...Semper Fi!!! Hoo-Ah!
Still the screen writer said in the extras, he actually went to some actual astro-physicists to check the plausibility.
Now here we have all these great scientific minds in reviewing her and I ask, have you ever fired a high powered rifle into the sand on a beach or your back yard or through an oak tree or an handgun unto a clay block to examine expansion damage?
Same principle as your brown matter and the only brown matter any of you pseudo-scientists have come in close contact with in this life is while wiping your butt each daily dump.
I can assure you, that a lead or a depleted uranium round will in fact stop at some point in the sand and not blow a hole to the earth's core, so take that smart guys!
It's called suspension of disbelief and the term was coined a couple, few hundred years back and still hold true for movie enjoyment.
And since we're all just having fun, Did you notice the rack on Natasha Henstridge. My god is she fine. I would have googled some bikini pictures of her a long time ago had I noticed that rocking body, but I don't watch television regularly...just movies and this isn't so bad and is actually kind of fun in spots.
To all the "experts" here, you can tell us all how dense brown matter actually is after you wash it off your hands next time okay? A lot of space science is speculative and it changes constantly unlike some other areas of science. Theories come and go on a daily basis.
Let's not pretend they are carved in stone.
The Family That Preys (2008)
Great film...which is rated way below here why???
For some reason, I think that people, their sickening racial prejudices or whatever have influenced a lot of the votes on Tyler Perry's work.
I've worked in independent film and am a writer and honestly, just discovered his work and have watched four or five of his films this week and I really think some jealousy for a young talented black man is going on because none of these films have reached the level of the garbage that usually elicits these number through these pages.
Not all his stuff is meant to be taken seriously, but this work for example is and has a great ensemble cast and it worked beautifully.
I don't understand the vote, but this was well done, technically perfect, and tender and ruthless and quite perfect in this film maker's views.
Bravo Tyler...keep 'em coming.
One thing that made me avoid these is they always emblazoned everything Tyler, but he deserves some credit...and the likes of Bates and Woodward, these guys are academy award winning and level actresses. They don't just work with anybody.
He wrote it. He produced it. He directed it. He played a bit part. What do you want to give the man no credit as if he had nothing to do with the film?
His stage plays have done over $75 million in sales across America and didn't need some gimmick like Cats, and this is a self made man basically. He wasn't born with some silver spoon in his mouth and eventually, as he does more drama, he's going to get an Academy Award in his life time at this rate.
