shallow, subjective, useless
19 April 2014
i've seen the same sort of thing come out of the right. makes many claims and assumptions; provides no proof of anything. mindless dribble that will only pour fuel on the fire. tailored toward the unthinking masses yet highly unlikely to spur them to action. jumps around from one thing to the next. no continuity.

i wouldn't say that it flat out tells lies, but it doesn't make it easy for a thinking person to believe any of it, despite how much they might want to believe it. we the people must be better than this if we are truly to overcome the powerful influences of money. then again, sometimes it is easier to just start bashing and throwing things.

the irony is that the same people who would be offended/angered by this film would probably eat up the same type of garbage which supports their own way of thinking. in either case, nobody is really looking to find out the truth and nobody cares about doing what is right, except in their own eyes.

...and that is precisely why humanity is doomed.

Grudge Match (2013)

leave your preconceptions out of it
27 February 2014
the vast majority of bad reviews for this film are likely the result of reviewers inability to view this film objectively. the fact is that this film has very little to do with either 'Rocky' or 'Raging Bull'. it pays homage to those films, nothing more.

lots of people think Stallone can't act, and De niro can't do funny. neither is 100% true and this movie is proof. is it great? no. but everybody involved did good work and it shows. the only way you couldn't feel happy and satisfied after watching this film is if you are die hard for the classics, in which case i say, 'lighten up'.

people find 'Grudge Match' to be an insult to the classics. it isn't. actually attempting to make a Balboa vs. LaMotta film would have been, though.

a train wreck wreck
14 February 2013
worse than the Quintinshill rail disaster of 1915 wherein a train crashed into the wreckage of 2 other trains that had just collided, thereby starting a fire which set a 4th and 5th train ablaze.

Tony Young may as well have thrown his career into the lava pools of Mordor. his inability to produce or direct is surpassed only by his laughably inept and ineffectual attempts at acting. if not for the name of the film, only his close friends would have seen it, just like the rest of his calamities.

an insult to naturist communities everywhere.

hard-earned dishwashing money during the week wasted in an utterly dismal attempt at film making on the weekends.

the only bright spot is, ironically, a short, dark segment with Wendy McColm. sadly, even she could not hope to bloom in the wake of this travesty.
