Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
Horrendous
Reese Witherspoon is actually a credible and believable actress, with films like FREEWAY and FEAR. However, Sweet Home is a ridiculous, predictable and unoriginal movie. With its ordinary love triangle and un-laughable script, I found myself falling asleep. All characters seemed manufactured and fabricated. The plot, her being a white trash turned hot shot designer, her fiance's high social status and her ex-hubby's country attitude deemed all too cliche. One word: boring.
The Sweetest Thing (2002)
Men Can't Cope with this....
Sweetest Thing is the greatest humorous movie ever made that gives women the upper hand. It irritates me to view all the other comments dissing this movie. Don't women put up with the male egotistical and sexist films like American Pie, Porky's, How to Be a Player, the list is ENDLESS! However, when a movie is made and the tables are turned, the male species of the universe have infinite remarks about the film's lack of concept, or its incapability to have substance! As if! Now men have a brain? Nevertheless, I never heard any complaints with American Pie 2's same-sex radio scene. You call that substance? And to top it off, Sweetest Thing's vulgarity is minimal in contrast to masculine, women subjugated films that appear everywhere! This movie epitomizes women liberation. That we too can play the game.......And win. Eat it up boys, this one goes down in the black book.
Freeway (1996)
Witherspoon's best.....
With uppety, cheerful flicks like Legally Blonde and Alabama, Freeway enraptures Reese's capablity of a 3 dimensional actress, full throttle. "Vanessa" the 15 year old she plays is so real and vulgure and captivating, the audience cannot help to hate and love her. Freeway is to me one of the best movies of the 90's, with a clever script and a marvelous cast, Freeway resembles cult faves like Pulp Fiction. It doesn't sugar-coat. Awesome movie.
Love & Sex (2000)
Hip and Real Look at Love
With somewhat of a depressing and pessimistic outlook, Kate (Famke Janssen) has experienced all types of men. However when she meets Adam Levy (Jon Favreau) all bets are off. Love & Sex takes you on a bumpy and up close ride at love, heartache and the wonderful and sometimes painful art of making up.
Very Bad Things (1998)
A Very Good Thing
Perhaps one of the most underrated films of 1998, or maybe of all time. Spending mere weeks at the box office, Very Bad Things is a cult classic, somewhat Pulp Fiction meets Breakfast Club. All characters are unique and versatile with each other. Especially Slater as sadistic and egotistical and virtually insane Robert Boyd. Favreau levels out the film with his dry humor and meek personality. Daniel Stern and Jeremy Piven add twisted brotherly comedy. All in all Very Bad Things, was a relatively Good Thing.
Bound by Honor (1993)
RIVETING
A dynamic and powerful film that will make you laugh, cry and scream; if you let it. Blood in BLood out follows the lives of three young boys who are binded by blood. Growing up together in the barrio of LA seems lightly breezy and carefree unitl one day all three of their lives are devastated. Each of them end up in their own predicament and searching for answers, and a feeling of accpetance. Together or not, without hope and little faith, still, the same blood runs through them all.
