Road House (2024)
Give it a Chance
I grew up with the original Roadhouse and love it still to this day. So when I heard they were remaking it, I rolled my eyes and said "Oh brother! Here we go again". But I always give remakes a chance and keep my expectations low. And although this film doesn't have the same humor and colorful characters (Conor McGregor being the exception) as the original, it still delivers when it comes to the fight scenes, Jake Gyllenhaal looking the part as a former UFC fighter and the somewhat believable plot. I also liked that they set it in the Florida Keys and there's lots of action in and around the water. But Conor McGregor pretty much steals the show and I wouldn't be surprised if we see him in many more action flicks in the coming years.
Anyway, you should definitely give it a chance cuz, despite being slightly inferior to the original, it's still a fun ride.
20/20 (1978)
From 60 Minutes to Dateline but Not as Good
I miss the days of old when 20/20 did an hour long 60 Minutes investigative journalism style that covers several diverse stories. Now they do a single story that's two hours long about murder or kidnappings like Dateline does. They must've saw how good NBC's ratings were and decided to completely copy their format. Although the stories are competently researched & reported, they just aren't as well paced or hold my interest as well as those on Dateline. They also don't have a great narrator/reporter like Keith Morrison to give it that extra flair. But, if they could make it just an hour or get a better narrator, I might watch a little more.
Top Gear America (2020)
Haters gonna Hate
This show isn't quite as polished as the original or even the last American version but it's still entertaining & fun to watch and will likely get better as the series goes on. It's also not near as bad as all the curmudgeons here would have you believe. Not sure what they were expecting but I feel like some of these ppl are never satisfied by anything.
Anyway, the cast is very likable, the challenges are fun and the cars are interesting and cool. So it's definitely worth checking out.
The Twilight Zone (2019)
Don't listen to the haters
Most of these negative comments are by guys are either uber nerds (who are never satisfied) or ultra Cons who hate anything that reminds them our society is far from perfect. And as far as the coarse language goes... who cares? That's how ppl talk in REAL life. This isn't the Disney Channel. It's CBS PPV.
Anyway, this show is fun, spooky and entertaining all at the same time. There are also lots of familiar faces & a supporting cast throughout who bring alot to each unique & well written story. So I say give this show a chance. You might just be surprised at how good it is.
Late Night with Seth Meyers (2014)
Smartest Talk Show On TV
Ignore all the 1 star reviews. They are ppl who have an agenda, who are overly sensitive & are only here to badmouth one of the smartest & funniest talk shows on television. And Seth Meyers is a highly intelligent host who has mastered the art of satire and quick wit. His writers/performers are all terrific as well. Especially when it comes to politics & showing how inept this administration truly is. The guest interviews are great as well.
Can't recommend it highly enough.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Haters Gonna Hate
Not the best SW film but also not near as bad as all the haters are claiming. As a standalone film, I thought the story was pretty decent, the actors were all really good (even the guy playing Han who did a convincing job) & the action scenes were exciting. Not as rewatchable as some of the others but definitely worth checking out.
Now as far as all the negative reviews here go.....
I grew up with Star Wars in the 70's and 80's and know full well how magical those first 3 movies were. But comparing these new films (with all new actors & almost all new characters) is not only totally unfair to the new films but also very unrealistic. Name me one sequel (non-James bond) made 40 yrs later that is just as good as the original films? Betcha can't. And newsflash to all the haters crying about how the Disney films have killed Star Wars.... Everything sucks when you go into it with a negative attitude (which most of you do). You just have to have an open mind. Plus, none of these new films are ever gonna be as good as you think they should be, anyway, so quit your whining & get over it already. These films are entertaining, fun and keeping the franchise alive so try to show a little more appreciation & be glad that they're still making them. .
The View (1997)
Great show
5 beautiful and intelligent women talking about politics and entertainment in an honest & insightful way while taking playful (sometimes heated) jabs at each other? What's not to like?
And don't listen to the 1 star reviews. They are just ticked off Trump voters who don't like to hear anything negative about Don the Con.
