3 hours of Great Barrier Reef view
27 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
2 hours out of 3 hours is just about water , aqua marines and CGI effects to make it look appealing. It reminded me of my Great Barrier Reef dive . The movie could have been reduced to 1.5 hours easily. Some flaws In the story;

1. Why would the hero risk life of sea people by calling the medics ? He acted in a very selfish way. In the end we don't k is if land people were unharmed or if they were attacked by sea people .

2. The villain in the end returns back . Perhaps there is one more sequel to the movie.

3. Character of spider was half baked. Could have been developed to give a better story line.

Too many loopholes : things don't add up
12 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers :

I couldn't help but see lot of parts similar to : Seven , Asur , Room , money heist etc

For me , the series went downhill after we come to know J and Abhinash are same person . I found too many loopholes in the story :

1. How come police didn't check Cctv footage of the writers house / hotel where they met for the first time

2 . Too easy for Abhishek to jump into the investigating team

3. We are shown that J bought grocery / stuff . Where did the money come from ? How come Abhinash never noticed this ?

4.Abhinash has a full time job clearly . That should give a lot of time to the kidnapped girls to explore more of the surrounding

5 Abhinash and his wife seem to be without guilt / sadness / remorse after killing the victims . This justification was explained welll in season 1 vs. season 2.

Character Building consumes the whole movie with no real progress on story
12 July 2015
I came across this movie after a lot of research and spending a lot of time. When i read the reviews, the expectations were high. The movie started very well and built up a lot of expectations on what will unfold.

Lot of time had passed and we were still on character building. The movie shows great attention to details on every scene for every character other than the accused I felt. Great cinematography and acting and thats it. I was hoping for a twist or something to happen next as it was thriller genre movie. The movie then just ends leaving everything open ended.

Interstellar (2014)

Bit too overrated
11 November 2014
I am sorry but found this movie to be highly over rated. It was high on visual effects but low on the content in terms of script, story and the future of the world basically.I am sure it will grab few awards in these categories.

There was a similar hype around Avatar but when I saw Avatar, it had something new to offer. Interstellar doesn't offer anything new as such.If you put the movie Gravity and the movie Frequency together in 5D, wormhole angle, you have Intersetllar. In fact I found Frequency to be highly underrated movie.

Acting/Direction is good but wished the script were much more stronger.

My Left Foot (1989)
A Masterpiece
20 November 2011
After a long time I came across a movie that really touches you deep with in. May be since it is a true story based on life of christy brown who rose to fame with his artistic talent despite his physical disability

It is a truly inspirational movie. It is based on a writer/artist christy Brown who is born with cerebral palsy. His whole body is paralyzed except for his

left foot. He is mute and the only means of expressing himself is with his left foot. The movie is all about his journey of how christy's talent slowly comes out of the cocoon and how with help of this family and his therapist his talent gets visibility and gets appreciated by the world.

When your days go bad because you didn't score very well in your exams, when you get sleepless nights coz your appraisal wasn't what you expected, when you complain that you couldn't go for ivy league college and had to settle for a tier II college, you feel you have lost out on everything in this world. After you watch this movie, this takes you to a totally new level of self conscience. It makes you feel that all that grumbling we do over petty issues in life has been futile and you could have used that time/energy in doing something better.

Now let us talk about the star cast. As we all know, Daniel Day is one of the best actors we have. I doubt if anyone could match upto his performance in this role. Brown's moms role is of utmost importance in the sense that christy's mom is very pivotal in encouraging christy to fight with his disability. Brenda Frecker does full justice to her role. Both of these actors were bestowed with Oscar award in the year 1989 for Best actor in leading role and for best actress in a supporting actress respectively. His bunch of siblings and his father also add to making the movie more remarkable. The screenplay and the direction couldn't have been better.

I would recommend you to watch this movie for a simple reason that it tells you that you have lots of opportunities around you. You shouldn't be dejected if you couldn't grab one of them.Life is about endless possibilities and we should take life with an optimism is my take away from the movie.

Must watch movie
16 April 2011
It is one of those unheard movies which definitely deserved a lot more of reception from the accolades aspect.I bumped into this movie accidentally, no one had recommended me or so..... So I didn't have much expectations.. So was just watching.. While watching this movie, Atonement was flashing at the back of my head... I don't know what, but yes I found a strange similarity between these 2 movies...

This movie has a backdrop of world war II. It is based on a novel of same title by John Boyne. The main protagonist of this movie is Bruno a eight year old kid who moves into hinterlands of Germany with his family. His dad holds a high position in German Military group. Bored in this new isolation away from his school and friends Bruno spots a Farm with a lot of farmers and children from his window..He is bored and needs company..He reaches out to the farm and befriends a kid in a farm.... The friendship deepens.. Bruno doesn't realize that the farm is nothing but a concentration camp.....On his last day at the place, he wants to bid goodbye to his Jewish friend in the camp...He goes a step ahead in his attempt to help him..Both are oblivious of the consequences ahead.

Even after the movie was over, I thought about Bruno and his friend in stripped pajama for a while...It is a great watch and it doesn't bore you even for a second.Must watch movie..

An Average Movie
16 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Well I started watching this movie with a lot of anticipations..The story goes like this...There is a happy family living in a small town. The husband(Tom Stall) owns a diner.Once, 2 hit men (shown to be killing people like animals) come to his diner and they violence in the diner..Both of the father & son duo hit men have guns which they take out and start shooting inside the diner at the hero...So our hero not only saves the lives of other workers at diner but also happens to shoot those two hit men..Yes, so now an average family man has become a real town hero of bravery. Media makes him a hero overnight.. Now after this incident, One day again he is visited by 2-3 mysterious looking men... One of the man claims that Tom is Joey Cusak - the man who made him blind on one eye few years back.. Tom and his family get hounded by these 2-3 men now on..

So, there is an element of surprise as well..but don't expect too much..

All in all, a mediocre movie..Could have been made a lot better...Especially the main hero, his acting so damn needs a retake for all the scenes...His wife does a pretty job...

An amazing Movie
16 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Well this movie is all about human emotions. How you would behave at different point of time under different circumstances. The one with power makes the weaker do what he wishes. The movie makes different protagonist powerful at different points in time.

Once a rich colonel, Irani immigrant in US buys an auctioned undervalued house. He aims to sell it at 4 times the price so that he could get back to his normal luxurious life. The previous owner of the house (kathy) has the house as the memory of her father and cant let it go so easily despite the fact that she didn't pay the taxes on time. It's because of this that the govt. seizes the house and auctions it. So with help of a policeman ( whom she lures with her beauty as she is the heroine) she tried to threaten colonel and get back the house.

One thing leads to another. Kathy's actions have chain reactions. Things don't go the way planned for any of the protagonists...It shows emotional outbursts.. It makes you imagine as one of the characters and forces you to imagine and guess next scene in the movie.

Overall, it kept me spellbound totally. You should watch it as well if you are looking for a sublime thriller...

The Fugitive (1993)

A good thriller flick
16 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Well I had seen the Hindi movie " Criminal" starring Manisha Koirala. So, scene by scene, dailogue by dailogue was copied by criminal from this movie till 1st 1 hour. Fugitive is an amazing movie and never lets you get bored even for a minute. All in all, a good thriller movie that has a good pace and keeps your mind busy with unexpected twists.

The movie is about a husband Dr.Richard Kimble ( Ford) who is convicted of his beloved wife's murder.God gives him one more chance when he flees from the bus carrying the criminals that meets with accident. Now his objective is to hunt down the real killer. Now this task is not so easy when you have a detective Gerad( Tomy lee) who has not let his whole team sleep just to get to this guy. Detective wont give up in his search and so wont Kimble in search of his wife's murder..Detective in every attempt misses Kimble by few seconds..

A well directed movie... You can watch it if you are bored and want to see a good thriller flick..

Incendies (2010)

An intriguing movie that moves you completely and
10 April 2011
This movie moves you completely. It is a very intriguing movie that got me glued till the end. Every scene in the movie is important and has linkages to what happened earlier / what will happen later in the course of the movie. The movie depicts background of Palestine at the time the war broke and how it linked many characters in the movie through one woman.

It is a first movie of Denis Villeneuve i have seen but it made sure that I would research and see more of his work.Lubna Azabal is totally into the character that she plays. She doesn't have verbose dailogues. Yet her fantastic facial expressions and her emotions speak volume about what she goes through in different phase of her life. Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin and Maxim Gaudette also do justice to their roles in the sense how their perspective on their mother changes and how the respect towards her only grows more and more as they come closer and closer to the what happened to their mother. All in all a great movie to watch. However this movie is not for a mass audience. If you like and intellectual movie with a strong serious storyline then you can definitely go for it. I give it 8/10.
