Great Stoytelling, As Always
10 November 2022
There is something so hypnotic for me when it comes to Werner Herzog and his creations, there is something almost animalistic, yet so sophisticated, poetic in all of his movies and documentaries. Werner's films (or book) make me leave everything I do to listen to him, to watch, learn. No different experience I had with this one tonight: so humane, gentle and poetic yet devastating film where humans and nature go in parallel with each of their steps and history. Beautiful, touching, compassionate but artistic, never pathetic - everything you would expect from this great filmmaker and creator. Highly recommendable.

Faith, Love and Hope
24 October 2021
Watched the movie last night with a friend and she was crying all the time, I had eyed filled with tears almost for the whole movie. Does that recommend a film? Yes, it does. Its a film about a Soul of the Man, not just of st. Nektarios but about all of our Faith, Love and Hope. How to cope when you have been wronged, how to love and make peace in your heart with those people? Watch the movie, it has answers. I highly recommend the film, not just because of the narrative and the story but for the sound and music, photography, the light and shadow. Very good and knowledgeable film-making, actors are really good and convincing in their roles, too.

Unoriginal Negativity
30 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not a good show. Lighting may be is solid, photography also, sound editing is decent but there is so much of awful swearing, such bad language and unnecessary nudity.

Nikola's character should be of a tough, hardened person with "a history" - we see none of it, we feel none of it, the intimidation, maybe even threatening character he should have been. Bogdan shines here and there, and we know he is capable, but that is rare because he seems restrained, all of the actors do. Sargin is not acting bad, Ceca also. But there are so many parts where there is just silence and pointless staring yet the characters are so under-developed, with no depth and plot to support that! Oh wait, there IS no plot, except for everyone is cheating on everyone, and so much swearing and cursing. Awful. When you do not know what to do and how to write - throw in some nudity, and more nudity, and let everyone curse, and swear.

Everybody is an antagonist. Everyone is negative, whether the primitive, poor, redneck and "patriots" and churchgoers who end up being morbid murderers or everybody else who care of nothing but getting or being laid, drowned in lies, cheating, alcohol and drugs. And awful swearing. Come on. We do not talk like that. May be the ones who wrote and created this miserable show. Pathetic and misleading. So negative and unoriginal. I do not support and do not recommend.

Dark Mess (Exposition and Crying)
29 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Now, I really was happy when 27/6 came because I am not a 'series-man' and 3 seasons is just about enough for me. And right away: 'Dark' lost it, what was magical and intriguing (to wait for the 3rd part, to begin with) is simply lost. (Inherited) Plot was already complex but now it became unnecessary complicated to the point that you don't really know what you are watching anymore. Years, centuries, worlds...a mess. Or a knot, of you wish. It's not clever, it's lost. The actors are really good, the young ones shine (Jonas and Martha, predominantly) and their acting progress is visible but - they are crying all the time! In every scene, they cry! I guess director thought 'Tears look good on you' but it lost its point halfway through. Ok once, twice but crying in every possible scene together...come on. That is just manipulative. You are tossing our emotions around like buttons. I did not enjoy the 3rd part melodrama, did not like the slowness of the pace because this worth of script/plot was good for one or two episodes, but then we would not see all the crying and endless exposition that still does not lead anywhere. Sorry, 'Dark' failed.
