The Gorgon (1964)
The Greek Gorgon in central Europe, how?
Aaah Prudence Hyman, she of the perfect name. Gorgeous in every guise.
This film is wonderfully atmospheric, and has a fantastic cast (look out for the scene in which two Doctor Who's meet). Christopher Lee arrives far too late, but by that point we've seen some extraordinary feats of human endurance in the face of demonic terror - who could walk miles then write a letter as their body turns to stone ! This is not classic Hammer, sadly lacking in tatas, and with a deeply improbably premise, but still a worthy entry in the Terror Tuesday catalogue, atmosphere, good actors, an air of suspense, and a satisfying denouement.
Death Ship (1980)
The teeth were terrifying, but watch it for the shower scene !
This has the most gratuitous shower "blood-booby" scene imaginable - everything that Terror Tuesday should be.
Over twenty years on, it was as atmospheric as I recalled from watching it as a teenager on the late Saturday night horror shows, and whilst a tad predictable after years of horror-enjoyment, some of the scenes such as the frozen locker of bodies and the 'interrogation room' still gave me jitters.
This film is so different to much contemporary horror, creating an atmosphere of tension instead of showering us in blood. I love the gore, but atmosphere is a prerequisite, and this film showcases how well it can be done. Not to mention the blood covered tatas !
Colin (2008)
Surely the most tedious film of the decade
I can't believe we sat through this - thanks TGG, not ! If you want to waste 97 minutes of your life, watch this film. Nothing happens, and though we begged for Colin to die, the director refused to put us out of our misery.
This film would have been interesting as a 3 minute short, every second after that was a waste of time.
The comparisons to Romero are farcical, those films capture the attention, there is nothing in Colin to do, other than the vain hope that someone will drive a screwdriver into his eyeball.
I can't believe that people gave this film reviews of 10, what exactly were they smoking? Or do they work for the distribution company? Then again, perhaps they were one of the zombie 'extras', who took their mindless attitude from the film set onto the IMDb review boards.
