Quarantine (2008)
Excellent Movie! If you don't think so, you are wrong
For all of you out there that think this movie is bad, or disappointing, or are offended that it was based on another movie: YOU ARE IDIOTS! This is not an opinion, it is a fact. Please jump off a cliff, and spare the rest of us from your useless selves. This is a great movie. It's 28 Days Later meets Blair Witch Project, and it draws you in like a black hole, calm and sunny at the outer edge, becoming faster and darker as you are sucked into the depths of mayhem. It follows a perfect parabolic path into chaos. Highly recommended for anyone that is looking for a straight-up scare-fest. Like "The Ring" it is SUPERIOR to the original movie it was based upon.
Riget (1994)
Utterly amazing. Terrifying, surreal, and then...hilarious
You'll never see such an amazing spectacle. At approximately 4+ hours if rented (the whole mini series), it leaves you wanting even more. The film is shot in an over-exposed reddish-brown, and is filled with everything. Surreal terror, brilliant humor, incredible characters. It reminded me something of a cross between David Lynch's Twin Peaks series and Kubrick's version of Stephen King's "The Shining". Just incredible. Take a nice, long evening and watch it start to finish for the best effect, you won't be disappointed!
Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo (1966)
Transcends all westerns - the epitome of an all-time great film
Not only is this film by far the greatest western ever made (Shane, et.al. don't even come close), it is one of the greatest films ever made. The larger-than-life characters fill the screens endless, gorgeous panorama. The movie is brilliant. Sublime. Exquisitely surreal. The entire civil war sequence comes out of nowhere and raises the movie to another level. The script is filled with memorable lines. Each one perfect for the time and place and the person delivering it. And what can you say about Clint, Lee, and Eli? Perfection, that's all.
To Sergio Leone: Thank You for this masterpiece!
Tuco: "When you're hanging at the end of that rope, you can feel the devil bite your ass! I want a bigger share of the reward money!"
Blondie: "Well, my friend, you may be at the end of the rope, but I do the cutting. And if we cut down on my percentage, it's liable to effect my aim."
The Ring (2002)
Fantastic scare-fest thriller!
Best scary movie in a long time. Better than 'Sixth Sense'. Better than 'The Others'. Some people contend that the original Japanese version, 'Ringu' is better. WRONG! Ringu had its moments, but didn't instill any real fear. Samara vs. Sadako? Samara would work her over, big time....and Naomi Watts (wow!).
