Steve Jobs (2015)
Brilliant Jobs? More like an asshole. But that's OK.
If you're hoping this will be a biopic, it isn't. It doesn't even begin at any beginning of Jobs, but throws us directly into his first launches and sends us behind the scenes of their failures and fast forward to the first release of the iMac. And it ends with the foreshadowing of the iPod. So if you wanted to know how it all began, it doesn't exactly do that.
In fact the movie revolves around the launching of products, being behind the scenes before the curtain goes up, and gives us an idea of his character. His behavior, his condescending remarks and his displeasure of having a daughter name Lisa. What the movie does so well is show us an asshole Jobs, but try their best to justify his behavior so the audience doesn't feel like he's a total bad guy. Which he isn't.
But it doesn't change the fact that he is an asshole, even brilliant gifted man that have change the world can and have been assholes. That shouldn't take anything away from the man that is Jobs, but all his followers that worshiped him can't understand that simple fact.
I'm not quite sure what the movie wanted to say or its true intention, it is entertaining to watch him argue with those around him and be extremely arrogant of his ideas while belittling others. I think Wozniak said it best "you're not a coder, you're not an engineer, just what do you do?"
Hunger (2008)
Slow, visual, graphical and a little boring.
I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I first pop it in my DVD player. It takes over 40 mins to see some action pick up. Well, actually, they do have some action moments, but they are brief. It's rather slow, and it revolves around 2 males in a very gross cell with poop smear all over the walls for the most part.
Towards the end the story focuses on the main story point, a man going on strike by not eating, hence the title. This man, which I believe should have been the main focus from the start wasn't. You see him here and there throughout the movie but you don't see him as a main character, let alone the lead, or in this case, the whole reason behind the strike and the movie.
It isn't until the scene of him speaking with a Priest in the meeting room that his plan is heard, and the climax of the movie. Sadly, it's wayyy towards the end. Even after that, it's just graphical with how his body changes due to lack of food. The first 2 males in the cell that you spent 40 something mins looking at, are not seen or heard of again, which makes me wonder, why did the movie revolve around them for the most part instead of the main character, the one going on strike?
The movie seems to lack direction, and at the end you are left with a sense of 'wtf did I just saw? @___@'. Watch if you want to, if I were you I would just skip it and watch something better.
Law Abiding Citizen (2009)
An amazing watch, worth it. If you're into police action, and vengeance, this is the movie for you.
Many wonder if Gerald lost his spark since his break through role in '300' seeing as he takes more comedy roles and not serious ones. But this movie proves to be different. He is serious and like most of the reviews they are right on target. Jamie's role is serious and very well played, showing to the World that he has a very promising career as in actor in Hollywood. Butler wants to bring down the justice system in a biblical manner. xD Or so he said in the movie.
The actors are amazing, the graphics are top notch. You are on the edge of your seat to find twists and turns, only to discover that Butler dug tunnels into every cell in prison, solitary cells, to do his evil deeds. The ending had a bittersweet tune to it, when you see Butler locked in in his cell trap while a bomb is trigger by him. It's moving to see him look at the bracelet his daughter made him saying simply 'daddy' seeing he only had 25 seconds to live. He cave in and found that staring at the bracelet to be the best way to go.
The fire flames in slow motion surrounding him before the cell explodes makes you feel a lil sorry for him, making it one of the best death scenes in movie history. Very memorable indeed.
Watch this movie, you'll truly enjoy it.
Quantum Apocalypse (2010)
It really is that bad. Waste your time watching something pointless with decent action and graphics instead.
After reading all the reviews I must sadly agree. I'm as much as a movie goer as the next person, but the story is ridiculous. Not a funny ridiculous, but a sad ridiculous. I found myself pausing lots of times due to lack of interest.
The movie Twister from the 90s had wayyy better graphics than this movie. Dx I do like the element of how the environment seem in ruins, so I give them some props for that. Seems like a very low budget movie. Even some low budget films are great, but the actors are terrible, they could at least make up for the movie's loss. Crappy actors and effects, with a whack out story line is just a disaster of a movie. Don't waste your time watching it.
On the lighter side, the 'mentally challenge' actor did a great job playing handicapped. I also found it humorous that the weight of the World, in this case literally, was in the hands of an old PC filled with data from his hard drive of the mentally challenge character.
Even more shocking and hilarious, that after all of that data and geniuses, this 2 college students, and everything the World could come up with, is just a stupid missile that got shot at this 'thing' in space and like that, it was over. I mean, really? Hahaha. I quickly delete it off my hard-drive, and my iPod, what a waste of an hour and a half. I found myself shaking my head wondering if I would have enjoyed it more if I was on drugs. @___@
