Father in Israel (2009)
Very, Very, Very Real
I loved this movie. I served for a time as a bishop, so I could very closely relate to many of his experiences. I loved the celebration here of goodness. He loves his family, cares of his friends, and cares for the members of his ward in his new calling. I did find myself asking where his counselors were in all his visits, but that is a minor point. I watched it alone the first time, and I can't wait until I can sit down and watch it again with my wife and family. I love how Christian Vuissa doesn't try to overdo it, and stays within the bounds of a real story with no over the top experiences. It is an everyday film, done beautifully. Thanks again Christian.
Charly (2002)
Watched it again, and like it just as much
I love this movie. It was the first movie I ever watched, and went out to purchase specifically because I wanted to support the effort. I'm a temple married mormon, and this story touched so close to home. I can picture myself as Charly, and as Sam, and as the parents. It touches so close to home, which is what makes it so compelling for me. I watched it again tonight for the 5th or 6th time, and enjoyed it just as much as I ever did. I cried as much too. Sam's outburst in the studio asking for a miracle is heartbreaking. I love Heather Beers acting, and the grandma is fantastic, and entire movie just lifts my spirits. Thank you movie makers!
The Errand of Angels (2008)
Loved it
I loved this movie. Admittedly, I served a mission in Italy, so I could relate. It was a realistic, feel good movie. No apologies, I will watch it again, and feel just as great. Erin Chambers was delightful to watch, the scenery was beautiful, and memories of my mission flooded in. Tracting, street contacting, talking to people on the bus, being stood up for appointments, and stuffing myself on food in the members homes. I liked the journal motif, and I liked the writing and traveling on the train. I will watch it again with my wife, and my daughter, and tell stories of my mission, and smile. I am so far very impressed with Christian Vuissa's work.
